Saini's multiple welfare initiatives for Goswamis
The Chief Minister made a significant announcement, stating that the Haryana Government will write to the OBC Commission recommending the inclusion of the Gosain community in the Central OBC list.
He further announced that one prominent 'Chowk' (roundabout) in the state and a large library to be established in Hisar will be named after Goswami Tulsidas Ji. Additionally, the Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs.31 lakh from his discretionary fund for the Dharamshala of the Goswami Samaj Sabha being constructed in Kurukshetra.
DCs to treat all plaints with seriousness
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini directed all Deputy Commissioners to treat every public complaint received under the Samadhan Shivirs, whether minor or major, with utmost seriousness and ensure their prompt resolution. He said that timely redressal would not only provide relief to the public but also strengthen trust in the administration.
The Chief Minister was chairing a meeting with the Deputy Commissioners via video conferencing here today, during which the progress of grievance redressal under the Samadhan Shivirs was reviewed.
Eligibility certificates to Prajapati community
Haryana Chief Minister Saini will distribute 'Eligibility Certificates' (Patrata Pramaan Patra) to eligible families of the Kumhar/Prajapati community at a state-level ceremony to be held in Kurukshetra on August 13.
Giving information, a government spokesperson said along with the Chief Minister, various ministers of the state, Members of Parliament, and senior public representatives will distribute certificates to eligible families at district-level programmes across all districts.
He informed that Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan will distribute eligibility certificates in Karnal district, while Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Sh. Krishan Lal Middha will do so in Jind district.
Haryana sets new benchmark in forensics
Haryana Government has taken numerous steps to upgrade State and Regional FSL infrastructure, the State is fully geared to meet the demands of the New Criminal Laws, emerging as a model of capacity, and scientific precision.
While stating this here today, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Dr. Sumita Misra, said that Haryana's Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has significantly reduced its backlog of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cases. The FSL has cut its pending cases significantly. The lab is now processing cases faster than new ones are being submitted. This impressive progress puts Haryana on a path to having zero pending cases by September 2025, an achievement that is uncommon for forensic labs in the country.

Bill on crowd management tabled in Karnataka Assembly
Agency: Bengaluru, Aug 20 (PTI) The Karnataka government on Wednesday tabled a bill on crowd control that proposes stringent punishment for organising unpermitted events, civil disturbance and 'crowd disaster". The Karnataka Crowd Control (Managing Crowd at Events and Places of Gathering) Bill was introduced in the Assembly over two months after the stampede at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4 that killed 11 people and injured many others. According to the proposed legislation, whoever intends to organise any event or function that would attract a mass gathering or a crowd should obtain permission from the jurisdictional authority. When the crowd is fewer than 7,000, the officer in charge of the police station may grant permission upon application from the organisers after due enquiry, it states. If the crowd is more than 7,000, but fewer than 50,000, the Deputy Superintendent of Police of the jurisdiction may grant permission upon application from the organisers after due enquiry. The bill also states that in case the crowd is more than 50,000, the jurisdictional superintendent of police or the commissioner of police may grant permission upon application from the organisers, after due enquiry. It says that whoever organises or attempts or abets the organisation of any unpermitted event should be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to a minimum of three years and up to seven years or with a fine up to Rs 1 crore or both. 'Whoever disturbs or attempts to disturb or abets to disturb the orderly crowd in any event or function by way of creating false rumours, statements, acts or causing any breach of peace including a threat of collective violence, destruction of property, or other unlawful acts shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with fine of rupees fifty thousand or both," according to the bill. In the event of a crowd disaster, the person or persons responsible for it, leading to loss of property or life, will be 'liable for imprisonment to a minimum of three years and up to seven years for injuries and imprisonment to a minimum of 10 years up to life sentence for fatalities". Whoever disobeys or abets to disobey lawful directions of any police officer, of and above the rank of sub-inspector of police on duty, to disperse from the place of gathering shall be liable to a fine of Rs 50,000, including, community service for a period of one month, the bill proposes. Once the bill is passed, the offences under this Act will be cognisable, non-bailable and triable by a judicial magistrate first class. Crackdown on infiltrators: 723 illegal immigrants held in West Bengal till July; cattle seizures decline
NEW DELHI: As many as 723 illegal infiltrators were apprehended on the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal till July this year, as compared to 1,694 in 2024 and 1,547 in 2023, the home ministry informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. Replying to a question, junior home minister Nityanand Rai said seizures of narcotics have risen to 5,729 kg in the first seven months of 2025 from 3,145 kg in 2024 and 4,988 kg in 2023. However, the seizure of cattle on the Indo-Bangladesh border was down to 2,886 till July 31 this year, from 8,648 and 8,614 in 2024 and 2023 respectively. Seizure of gold is also much lower this year, with a little less than 21 kg recovered till July 31, as compared to 188 kg in 2024 and 166 kg in 2023. The face value of fake Indian currency notes recovered this year (till July) was Rs 7.4 lakh, as compared to Rs 32.4 lakh in 2024 and Rs 15.8 lakh in 2023. Rai told RS that nearly 1,648 km of the 2,217 km international border in West Bengal has been fenced. Of the remaining 569 km, 456 km is feasible for fencing. Land acquisition is yet to be initiated for 149 km by the state govt. Around 181 km of land, for which payment has already been made, is yet to be handed over by the state. The minister said regular reviews were being held between the Govt of India and West Bengal govt to iron out challenges in land acquisition.
