Yahoo05-05-2025
Caitlin Clark is the face of the WNBA. Her games receive national attention. The cost to see her play in person continues to rise. And she ceases to amaze crowds, dazzling with highlight reel plays on a nightly basis.
Sunday afternoon, Clark and her Indiana Fever teammates took center stage in the WNBA world, taking on the Women's Brazilian National Team. This preseason exhibition brought Clark back to her college-home, Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

After sitting out the Fever's preseason game with a leg injury on Saturday, Clark was in the starting lineup against Brazil. She would finish with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field, including four made 3-pointers. Clark would add six rebounds, five assists, and one block in 19 minutes and her leg did not appear to bother her at any point of the game.
Clark and the Fever dominated Brazil 108-44, but no moment was bigger than Clark draining a 36-foot, 3-pointer from the logo. It was a magical moment that sent the approximately 15,000 fans in attendance into a frenzy.
Following the game, Clark revealed her "magic shoes" that helped lead to the special moment.
'These are my Bruce Lee Kobe's that I've worn literally every big game of my career at Iowa. So, I was like ahh, I have to break them out...There was no other option. I had to choose these. They're kind of like my magic shoes,' Clark said.

The Nike Kobe 5 Protro dropped in the "Bruce Lee" colorway in November 2020 for $180 in adult sizes. The fan-favorite and hooper-approved basketball shoes now have an average resale price of $582 on StockX, a secondary, online marketplace.

Clark graced the court in her black and yellow sneakers, giving Sunday's game a magical feel, becoming the first ever WNBA game inside Iowa's arena.
Clark was the center of attention, as she was mobbed by her own teammates during her postgame interview. Clark also took the time to sign autographs for fans, as well as Brazil players, after the game.
Clark and the Fever will tip-off their regular season on May 17, at home, against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.

WNBA Star Sophie Cunningham Has Strong Feelings About Las Vegas

WNBA Star Sophie Cunningham Has Strong Feelings About Las Vegas originally appeared on The Spun. The city of Las Vegas has been in the news lately over reports of the city's recent economic struggles. As someone who has to travel to Sin City for games and other sporting events, WNBA star Sophie Cunningham had some thoughts on the state of the city. On the latest episode of her "Show Me Something" podcast, Cunningham stated point-blank that she does not like Las Vegas and dreads people asking her to go there with them. "I don't like Vegas," Cunningham said. "When people are like, 'Oh, Vegas!' I'm like, ah s---." After her podcast co-host complained that the city just seemed sad to him, Cunningham remarked that Vegas has a certain "smell" that compels her to wash all of her cloths after leaving. Ultimately, Cunningham simply doesn't like the experience. "Every time that I'm there, there's just that smell Vegas has, and I have to wash everything. It's just like that smell," she said. "Everyone that lives in Vegas, like off the strip and in the suburbs, everyone says it's awesome. But I just never experienced that so I'm just like eh. But everyone loves it." The reports on the situation with Las Vegas don't paint a pretty picture. Despite adding several professional sports franchises to the city over the past 10 years after decades without having any, all indications are that tourism is way down and that people are starting to feel priced out of the city. Some have argued that the hotels and resorts are simply charging too much upfront, whether it's from the resort fees or the higher floor for making basic bets inside the casinos, the general sentiment is that it's more expensive than ever to have even a little fun. Identifying the problem is bound to be easier than the solution though. Tyrese Haliburton can wear a right shoe again. The Indiana Pacers guard posted a picture of himself wearing both shoes on social media Thursday, August 14. That's one small step in his recovery from a right Achilles tear suffered in the first quarter of Game 7 of the NBA Finals on June 22. He had surgery the following day and had been in a walking boot since. He used a scooter to navigate to Fever games and propose to girlfriend Jade Jones, and he was on crutches to attend a WWE event. Insider takeaways: What you need to know about Pacers' 2025-26 schedule Mark your calendars: Here's Indiana Pacers' 2025-26 schedule for NBA regular season Getting back on his own two feet is great, but it hardly means a return to the court is imminent. The Pacers have already said he won't play in the 2025-26 season, which begins October 23 at home against the NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
