Dua Lipa named most played artist across UK TV and radio for second time

Dua Lipa has been named the most played artist across radio, TV and public places in the UK for a second time by music licensing company Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL).
The singer, 29, known for hits including Dance The Night and Levitating, has ousted Shape Of You singer Ed Sheeran from the top spot, ending his three-year run at number one.
Sheeran, 34, who recently shared details of an eighth studio album, now sits at number three with US pop star Taylor Swift the second most played artist of 2024.
Lipa said: 'It's a real honour to be named the most played artist in the UK for the second time.
'2024 was an incredible year and I'm so grateful to everyone who has supported my music on the radio, TV and in venues around the country. Thanks also to PPL for continuing to support artists and our music.'
Lipa, who has won several Brit Awards and three Grammys, headlined Glastonbury Festival last year shortly following the release of her third studio album Radical Optimism.
She is the youngest person to feature on this year's Sunday Times 40 Under 40 Rich List, making her one of the wealthiest musicians in the UK.
Lipa has racked up seven years of airplay on UK radio and TV, with her music played an average of 400 times per day, according to PPL data.
Her 2018 hit single One Kiss with Calvin Harris remains her most played song of all time, averaging 55 plays per day across UK radio and TV.
She previously appeared at the top of PPL's most played artist chart in 2020, the same year she released the album Future Nostalgia, which contains hits Don't Start Now and Hallucinate.
Her 2024 single Houdini, which went to number two on the UK chart, features on PPL's list of most played tracks of that year, coming in at number six.
Leading the charge at number one, however, is Noah Kahan's Stick Season, which spent seven weeks at the top of the UK singles chart last year.
This is followed with Lose Control by US artist Teddy Swims at number two and Beautiful Things by Benson Boone at number three.
British singer Myles Smith, who was named Brits Rising Star ahead of this year's Brit Awards, features at number five with his song Stargazing.
Peter Leathem, PPL chief executive, said: 'Congratulations once again to Dua Lipa for leading PPL's most played artist chart, and to Noah Kahan for securing the most played track of the year.
'British artists continue to perform well, making up 70% of the top 10 – proving they have staying power across the nation's broadcasters, businesses and public spaces.
'It is also fantastic to see fresh UK talent such as Myles Smith make a big splash in the top five most played tracks, showing there is plenty of promise in UK music going forward.'
PPL licenses the use of recorded music on radio, TV and in public places across the UK, including shops, bars, restaurants, gyms, offices and warehouses, and receives extensive airplay reporting data from such broadcasters and public performance venues.

Charlotte Dawson puts on a VERY busty display in pink mini dress as she gets glammed up alongside a stylish Lauryn Goodman and racy Tallia Storm at Deep Cover London premiere

Charlotte Dawson enjoyed a child free evening as she posed up a storm at the Deep Cover premiere at the Barbican in London on Wednesday evening. The TV personality, 32, put on a very busty display in a baby pink mini dress which she paired with a simple pair of pewter heels. The star, who welcomed her third child in March, accessorised the Bardot ruffle dress with dramatic silver dangly earrings. She was joined by her fiancé Matt Sarsfield who looked stylish in a blazer jacket, white T-shirt and grey chinos. Lauryn Goodman and Tallia Storm also attended the star-studded premiere as they rubbed shoulders with the film's stars Orlando Bloom and Bryce Dallas Howard. She completed her look with a pair of silver star heels and accessorised with gold bangles. Deep Cover is about three hapless improvisational actors who have been hired by the police to assist in the staging of potentially dangerous low-level stings. But their habit of saying 'yes' to everything without breaking character finds all three submerged in London's criminal underworld. Orlando Bloom plays the lead in the Amazon Prime original, starring alongside Bryce Dallas Howard. The singer appeared to forgo underwear for the evening and offered a glimpse of her washboard abs in the gown And Orlando was joined at the premiere by his mother Sonia Copeland Bloom who looked in great spirits as she beamed from ear to ear. The film is based on an original script by Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow - who previously collaborated on Hollywood blockbuster Jurassic World. British improvisational pair Ben Ashenden and Alexander Owen have helped base the script in London, while filmmaker Tom Kingsley - whose previous work includes comedy series Stath Lets Flats - is the director. Back in February Orlando was seen filming in London for the upcoming action comedy. Noel Edmonds launches TV comeback with a little help from a very famous face

Noel Edmonds launches TV comeback with a little help from blobby Noel Edmonds will launch a TV comeback later this month - with a little help from his old pal Mr Blobby. ITV are screening Noel Edmond's Kiwi Adventure in the next few weeks. It will see Noel, 76, back on primetime TV. The series shows how after appearing on British TV for over 50 years Noel Edmonds left the country in 2018 and travelled 11,500 miles to build a brand-new life in New Zealand with his wife Liz. ‌ The series will show him trying to build New Zealand's first energy garden and a fledgling business. Two years ago, they bought land around Ngatimoti, a small rural town and built a hospitality business in the heart of the community, including a vineyard, coffee cart, general store and restaurant & pub, which is about to reopen to the public for its second full season. ‌ On a trailer released today, Noel says: "New Zealand is a great place to come to it's not the easiest place to set up a business. We're haemorrhaging money at the moment, what Liz and I wish to achieve is community." Mr Blobby then appears on screen and he adds with a laugh: "You travel halfway round the world and he turns up!" He also shows his pub is called 'The Bugger Inn' and features a Crinkley Bottom mug from his days hosting Noel's House Party on BBC. In March, rumours of the show leaked out and it draw comparisons with Jeremy Clarkson show Clarkson's Farm, which airs on Prime Video. But Clarkson's Farm is now making money and it remains to be seen if Noel can ensure his business makes a profit as he has to cope with unseasonal bad weather and "feelings of being an outsider". In 2018, Noel went on I'm A Celebrity and picked up a reported £600,000 fee and a feeling he could be one of the leaders of the camp for the rest of the series. But in one of the biggest shocks in reality TV history Noel Edmonds was the first contestant to leave the show that year. Rather than try to make more TV he then headed to New Zealand soon after to begin a new life. Noel started his broadcasting career hosting Top of the Pops in the early 70s and later went on to present nineties hit Noel's House Party with beloved Mr Blobby and Deal Or No Deal.

Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins on ‘ridiculous' feud rumours

There has been speculation that the two co-stars had drifted apart after being on the HBO show, which follows the lives of guests and staff at a luxury resort as dark secrets are revealed and tensions rise over the course of the holiday. The third series sees the positive Chelsea, played by British actress Wood, 31, try to keep her mysterious older boyfriend, Rick, played by 53-year-old US actor Goggins, calm in Thailand. Walton Goggins. (Ian West/PA) Following the 2025 series, Goggins appeared to step away from his fellow co-stars, and unfollow Greater Manchester-born Wood on Instagram. They both addressed the swirling rumours during a joint interview for US publication Variety, which was published on Wednesday. Goggins said: 'There is no feud. I adore, I love this woman (Aimee) madly, and she is so important to me.' He added that 'she's special', and explained he had not addressed the reports before as he did not want to talk about Wood when she was not there. 'I think it's such a comment on where we're at culturally. Why is everyone obsessing over Instagram? That is irrelevant. We don't give a shite about Instagram,' Wood said. Goggins said that when he finished The White Lotus he 'needed to just back away from everyone', as it is his 'process' when filming a project ends. 'It's all so ridiculous,' he said. 'It's just a part of me just saying goodbye to this character so that now Aimee and I will be friends for f****** ever.' Wood previously criticised a Saturday Night Live sketch, with an cast member impersonating her with exaggerated prosthetic teeth, calling it 'mean and unfunny' on Instagram. She told Variety that it 'felt misogynistic. It felt like the punchline was a woman's appearance, which is just not funny. It's not cool'. Goggins shared the same sketch online and praised Jon Hamm for playing a version of his character, before deleting the Instagram post, ahead of hosting SNL> He said he was 'gonna say it (something) to your face', and added: 'I don't use social media in any way, and I'm not a mean guy.' SNL apologised for the April sketch, according to Wood, and the comedian and cast member who impersonated her, Sarah Sherman, sent her flowers to apologise. Wood is also known for Netflix teen show Sex Education, BBC comedy Daddy Issues and the 2022 drama film Living with Bill Nighy. Goggins has been in Western series Justified, post-apocalyptic series Fallout, and drama Sons Of Anarchy. He has had two Emmy nods, while Wood has won a TV Bafta for Sex Education and been given a Rising Star Bafta nomination.
