Moreover, the ministry also confirmed the start of electricity connection in Al-Mutlaa Residential City (N1 District - parts of Block One; in cooperation with the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW). KUWAIT CITY, July 31: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah chaired the 21st meeting of the ministerial committee responsible for following up on bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between Kuwait and the People's Republic of China. The session was held at Bayan Palace on Thursday. The meeting reviewed the progress of key development initiatives outlined in the Kuwait-China cooperation framework, including the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, expansion of the electric power system, renewable energy development, construction of eco-friendly recycling systems, housing initiatives, and environmental infrastructure for wastewater treatment plants. Discussions also covered free and economic zones, as well as strategies to combat desertification and promote sustainable agriculture. Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and committee rapporteur Ambassador Sameeh Johar Hayat delivered a comprehensive briefing on the implementation of MoUs. He highlighted the ongoing high-level communications with Chinese counterparts, underscoring Kuwait's commitment to deepening strategic and economic ties with China. Ambassador Hayat also revealed that four Chinese delegations representing major state-owned enterprises are scheduled to visit Kuwait next month to explore cooperation and investment opportunities in infrastructure, logistics, and other development sectors. KUWAIT CITY, July 21: The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has obtained approval from the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) to issue a tender for linking the external sites of the ministry with the National Data Control Center (NDCC), say sources from the ministry. Sources indicated that this tender is included in the contracts of the ministry for the current fiscal year and are scheduled to be implemented by the Planning, Training and Information Systems Sector. Sources revealed that the tender is for linking the external branches with the data center in the main ministry building and the NDCC in order to allow the exchange of information and provision of electronic services. MEW secures SAB approval for KD169mn GCCIA power import
KUWAIT CITY, July 17: The total amount for which the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy obtained conditional approval from the State Audit Bureau (SAB) to contract for the import of electricity from the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) reached KD169.126 million over nine months -- from April to December. According to reliable sources, the ministry got approval for the import in April, amounting to KD2.641 million, two approvals in May the first for KD1.756 million and the second for KD3.348 million, in addition to an approval from June until December for KD161.381 million. Sources indicated that the energy import is through the coordinated efforts of the ministry and GCCIA to support the grid, maintain the stability of the electrical system during summer, and avoid resorting to scheduled power outages as much as possible, given the increased loads resulting from high temperatures and increased consumption rates in summer. Sources disclosed that the ministry utilized the GCCIA as one of the solutions to address the energy crisis until production rates increase and new projects are implemented shortly. Sources said these projects include the installation of gas turbine units operating on a combined cycle system to increase power production at Al-Subiya power station by 900 megawatts, indicating the ministry is racing against time to complete the fourth phase that includes the tender, award, contracting, and implementation procedures.
