Championship club face BACKLASH after former star - who was sacked as a TV pundit for racist remarks - is included in new Walk of Fame
The new feature was unveiled at Pride Park ahead of Saturday's Championship game against Coventry.
It is designed to enhance the Rams heritage on display and supplement statues and images already around the site commemorating legends of the past including Brian Clough, Dave Mackay and Steve Bloomer.
Fans were invited to nominate players and the first 12 inductees were unveiled on Friday with their pictures on the exterior wall of the East Stand. The plan is to add more on a yearly basis.
But not all fans were impressed to see Eranio's picture in the first swathe.
The Italian winger, a firm favourite with Derby fans during four years at Pride Park from 1997, was sacked by Swiss TV channel RSI after comments about Real Madrid centre half Antonio Rudiger, who was then at Roma, during a 4-4 draw against Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.
'Black players, when they're in a defensive line, often make certain errors because they're not concentrating,' said Eranio, whose later attempts at clarification only made the situation worse.
'If I'd had to time to explain I would've said that I meant black players have never had a school of football in tactical terms similar to ours,' Eranio said.
'Rudiger read the situation badly because black players are not accustomed to paying attention to certain details. If they were as detail oriented as us, then they'd dominate the sport, because they have it all when it comes to strength and technique.'
John 'Jack' Kirby was a goalkeeper born in 1909 who made 191 appearances in nine years at Derby before the Second World War.
In 1934, the team toured Germany and he stood firm as the only player to resist pressure to perform a Nazi salute before each of the four matches played in four different cities.
Instead, he made a point of turning away from the flags his teammates were saluting.
Kirby died in 1960 at the age of 50 and earlier this year his grave was restored thanks to fundraising led by Derby fan, local historian, teacher and author Kal Singh Dhindsa, who has been campaigning to see Kirby's courage honoured at Pride Park.
'Kirby was a symbol of defiance against the Nazis and fascists,' said Dhindsa. 'His inclusion would have been a source of immense pride and an excellent opportunity to educate all.

'Instead, Derby County have opened the floodgates to embolden more fans to think in the way Eranio expressed himself.
'That doesn't sit right with me and, personally, I would be quite embarrassed to see Kirby up there if he was added at a later date in the company of Eranio.'
Dhindsa has been subjected to personal abuse after voicing his feelings on social media.
'There are many fans who feel the same way as me but are too afraid to call it out,' said Dhindsa. 'There are other fans who will only see a great footballer and have only that stuck in their mind.
'Then you have the ugly side of football who not only think Eranio was a great footballer but totally agree with his past comments. Nothing will change their opinion, especially if someone like myself has raised these concerns. I've heard a lot from these types in the last day or so.
'Deflecting attention at every opportunity to support Eranio and his views, happy to point the finger at me, call me names, question my allegiance and integrity to my Club and my Country.'
The ugly side of football reared its head at Anfield on the opening night of the new Premier League season when Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo was a target for racist abuse.
Dhindsa added: 'What troubles me the most is that this is not the first time I've had to question how the club deals with certain sections of our fan base. It shouldn't need me to point things like this out for them and make them act accordingly.'

Plenty had their warnings. Questions over his temperament persisted. Did Manchester United, with their chequered transfer history, really need to gamble on a forward with such meagre running stats? One who cannot be trusted to keep his head? But Matheus Cunha has already showed, even when failing to find the net as United slumped to another home loss against Arsenal, that it is his unhinged and unpredictable temperament that he is exactly what United need right now. In many ways it was same old United on Sunday. Amorim suffered his 15th defeat in what was his 28th Premier League game as United manager – this is the fastest a manager has reached 15 defeats in the competition, without taking charge of a newly promoted team in that period, since Paul Hart with Portsmouth in 2009. Conceding first and being unable to muster even a suggestion of a response plagued last season's year to forget. United have now fallen 1-0 behind in more league home games than any other ever-present side since the start of last season. Shipping goals from goalkeepers errors or corners remains a staple around these parts, too. Cunha didn't adhere to the well-trodden meek surrender script, however. Every time the Brazilian was on the half turn, he only had one thing in mind. Alejandro Garnacho does it on occasion, when not sulking, Amad Diallo is capable of leaving supporters gasping for air, while peak Marcus Rashford had defenders dazed and confused with regularity. One of the many gaps in the rusting United armour under Amorim has been the lack of someone willing to take the attack to their opponents on enough occasions to make a real difference. With confidence severely lacking, defenders have all too often left Old Trafford having not been on the back foot once all match. Cunha bucked that trend on debut. Four shots and four successful dribbles deserved a goal. Bryan Mbeumo's intent warranted more, too. Anything but overawed fronting this new-look United forward line, Cunha's energy and inability to go into any duel at less than full throttle is the grab-by-the-scruff-of-the-neck everyone needed, even if the result told a different story. In contrast, Arsenal's frontline did not muster a single attack of note all match in the glorious Old Trafford sunshine. They will take victory at a rejuvenated Manchester United, however it comes. But Mikel Arteta, having seen Manchester City and Liverpool plunder four goals each in a swashbuckling manner that few teams will be able to cope with, will head back south with major concerns. None more so than Viktor Gyokeres. Twenty-one touches, nine passes, zero shots before being hauled off. Plenty have had worse starts, but the early signs are not great. Cunha sprung to United's attention at the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign, as he rampaged around Old Trafford like a rockstar on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. United's beleaguered backline had no answer to the velocity of the performance back then and senior figures never forgot what they saw. His all-action showing against Arsenal didn't quite reach the same decibels, but those occasions when he drove right into the heart of one of the best defences in world football ensured many in the Stretford End are beginning to identify a new cult hero. 'It is our feeling that we play better,' Amorim said. 'In the end we lose the game, but I'm really proud of the effort they put in the game. We proved today that we can win any game in the Premier League, we were the better team.' And that increased optimism was down to the performance of one man. Whether through the middle or from out wide, Cunha's power, poise and guile are clearly what the doctor ordered. Even in defeat, United's performance on Sunday gave life to pre-season optimistic hopes that there is something in the works around M16. We might not see the fruits of what Amorim is trying to do for a while, but Old Trafford has not borne witness to such attacking intent, even when remaining scoreless, for some time. And that cannot be overlooked. Any red revolution needs a figurehead. And it appears, even among a packed field of fresh-faced, expensive forwards, Cunha is right at home leading the charge.

Arsenal's Arteta relieved to escape from Old Trafford with a win
MANCHESTER, England, Aug 17 (Reuters) - Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday was far from a masterful performance against the better side but manager Mikel Arteta was delighted to escape from Old Trafford with all three points in their Premier League season-opener. Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori took advantage of a weak challenge from Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir to head home an early corner and then the London side survived an onslaught of United attacks as they dug in to secure the win. "A big, big result coming into the first game of the season against (United) at Old Trafford," Arteta said after facing a side fielding new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. "When you feel that they are building something special and momentum with the new signings and they want to kick off the season in a good way and you are able to come away with the win, I'm very happy I'm part of the team." Arteta said his side, which spent nearly 200 million pounds ($266.30 million) in the close season after three consecutive second-place finishes, did a couple of things well on Sunday. "One, to take the set-piece and then react to especially mistakes," he said. "Some of them are necessary, some of them unusual. But the way every single player reacted to that gives us the opportunity to win the game. If not, it's impossible. And that's about how we compete and how much we want to take it." While United were the better team, Arteta said Arsenal winning while not at their best was a reason for confidence. "When you're not at your standards in certain aspects, which today we weren't, being fair, we can still come away and find a way to win the game," he said. "And the team has to find that resilience throughout the season for 10 months in different contexts to be able to do that. "Of course, we have to improve a lot of things and that will happen very soon. But in terms of managing to get that into a very positive result, that's a great way to do it." Arsenal's main close-season signing, Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres, did not stand out on his Premier League debut and was substituted early in the second half. "But overall, coming away to Manchester United, winning your first game with Arsenal, it's a good start," Arteta said.
