During the drive, the team thoroughly checked various documents such as fitness certificates, permits, insurance, PUC (pollution under control) and tax certificates. The team also conducted an intensive check for other violations, including overloading, overcharging passengers, and the absence of a speed governor.
The buses were seized from Patel Pratima, Madhumilan Chauraha, Ring Road, and Musakhedi. Some were found picking up passengers in the middle of the road, while others were parked for cleaning and repairs, causing public inconvenience.
The team also took the opportunity to encourage citizens to get high-security registration plates for their vehicles. The administration has appealed to bus operators to run their services only from designated stops, warning that action would continue against violators.

‘We want to disrupt the luxury car segment'

How has been the drive so far, especially on the EV front? We are standing for technology and safety. Those two factors have been very well-received by our customers. As we look at our next chapter, we realise there are a couple of trends that are shaping the country. One, luxury brands across categories are actually moving at a very fast pace. Secondly, the penetration of new energy vehicles in the luxury segment is much higher than it is in mass brands. That also presents an opportunity as that segment has not really been disrupted yet. It's been headed by a couple of OEMs all along. We believe that much like in the mass segment, we have been able to create some level of disruption in the luxury space in such a short time. So, what are your plans for the luxe space? The first one is the Cyberster (launched on July 25 at Rs 75 lakh apiece), which is a roadster and is a sports car. The second is the M9, our first luxury MPV and it's the longest and the widest in the segment. Both these cars are going to stay true to our brand promise. These two vehicles will have technologies that you have never seen before and are going to have safety features that you have never seen before. And it is going to create experiences that you have never experienced before. You have seen a runaway success with the Windsor, primarily because of its pricing. Why the switch to luxury now? The overall luxe car space is about 50,000 units per annum. We are playing in a fairly niche segment, and that is the segment we want to disrupt. Given your relationship/partnership with the Chinese firm Saic Motor, how good or bad is your rare earth materials position? We are as impacted or not impacted as anybody else. It impacts not just EVs, but ICE products as well. And it is very important to ensure that as an industry, we work alongside the government and our national body SIAM to have this addressed. Our production is unlikely to be impacted in the immediate future, but we are watching the situation very carefully. Because at this point of time, we have a longer lead time of three-four months of cycle. What about your partnership with Saic? Is it not an advantage? I don't think it is a question of advantage or disadvantage. For one, it is a very serious issue. Because it impacts many components, both in ICE and EVs. If someone thinks this is only impacting EVs that is not true. Very importantly the SIAM is working very closely with the government to ensure that this issue does not impact production of all vehicles.

Govt mulls life tax exemption for tourism caravan vehicles in AP

Vijayawada: The state govt is likely to give life tax exemption for tourism caravan vehicles to encourage their registration exclusively in Andhra Pradesh under the new 'caravan tourism policy' which is expected to be unveiled soon. Apparently, the life tax exemption would be provided to the first 10 or 20 caravans. According to the tourism department officials, the base variant of a caravan vehicle is pegged at around Rs 1 crore, while the cost of high-end models run into multiple crores depending on their specifications and bespoke customisations opted by the operators. "As per the existing life tax rates, i.e., five percent in AP, a caravan owner needs to pay Rs 5 lakh as life tax while registering the vehicle with the transport department. Accordingly, the tourism department believes the caravan operators can save an average of Rs 10 lakh on life tax, following their exemption, collected during the vehicle registration with the transport department," a senior tourism department official said. The official said that the decision aims to encourage more number of operators to register new caravan vehicles in state. "Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched a caravan vehicle at the tourism conclave organised recently by the tourism department. However, the caravan flagged off by the chief minister on a trial basis, belonging to the Hyderabad-based Luxe Caravans, was a Telangana-registered vehicle," the official mentioned. After rolling out the new policy, the govt aims to see caravans registered with the AP transport department plying on AP roads rather than those registered in the neighbouring states, he added. Meet T-14 Armata Tank, super powerful war weapon offered by Russia to India, its features are..., Trump to...

New Delhi: US President Donald Trump is not happy with India and Russia's friendship and is threatening both countries with tariffs. Amidst this, the two countries are discussing a crucial defence deal that might further enrage Trump. What has Russia offered to India? Russia has offered to sell the next-generation T-14 Armata tanks to India to replace its ageing T-72 tanks with new tanks. Russia's offer includes domestic manufacturing in India under the Make in India programme. Armata tanks are made by the Russian company Uralvagonzavod, and the T-14 Armata is its most advanced tank. Uralvagonzavod has offered to design and develop this tank according to India's needs for its Next Generation Battle Tank (NGMBT) programme. For this, the Russian company has shown interest in partnering with Indian defence companies. What is the crux of the proposal? The proposal includes possible collaboration with India's Combat Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE) or other public sector defence units. The proposal is strategically prepared according to India's 'Make-I' procurement category, which aims to increase India's indigenous production. Under this plan, the Government of India provides up to 70% of the funding for developing prototypes, which emphasises domestic manufacturing and technology transfer. Will India buy the advanced T-14 Armata tank? Uralvagonzavod had signed a technology transfer agreement with India for T-90S tanks, which are now manufactured in India as T-90 Bhishma. India uses more than 83 per cent domestic technology in the T-90S tank, including complete localisation of the tank's engine. Russian officials have also expressed their intention to work with India for the local production of the T-14 Armata tank project. Company officials have suggested that the T-14 Armata would be an ideal successor to replace the Indian Army's huge but ageing fleet of T-72 tanks. Why is T-14 Armata considered one of the most advanced tanks in the world? The T-14 Armata is considered one of the most advanced tanks in the world. It has many remotely operated functions, an armoured capsule for the crew, a state-of-the-art digital control system and an active protection system (APS) called 'Afghanit'. This system is capable of destroying the enemy's anti-tank missiles on the way. Three operators can sit inside this tank and destroy the enemy's anti-tank missiles and RPGs in the air. It has a millimetre-wave radar, which provides 360-degree protection. Guided missiles can also be fired from this tank up to 8–10 kilometres. The maximum speed of this tank is 75 to 80 kilometres per hour, and its range is 500 kilometres. The weight of this tank is 55 tonnes, and its cost is around Rs 30 to 42 crore. If it is manufactured in India, its cost will be reduced by at least Rs 10 crore.
