Ground Zero Box Office Collection Day 3: Emraan Hashmi's Film Wraps Up First Weekend With Rs 2 Crore
Emraan Hashmi's Ground Zero, directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, earned Rs 5.20 crore in its opening weekend. Emraan also announced Awarapan 2, set for 2026.
Ground Zero, starring Emraan Hashmi, has completed its first weekend at the box office, ending with a total collection of Rs 2 crore. The film, which opened on a relatively modest note, saw a steady performance over its first three days. On Day 3, the film managed to hold its ground, bringing in consistent figures despite the competition from other releases.
Emraan Hashmi's latest film, Ground Zero, hit theatres on April 25, 2025. Marking his debut as a BSF officer, the action-packed thriller is inspired by real-life events.
Ground Zero had a slow start at the box office, earning only Rs 1.15 crore on its opening day. The film faced a slight dip on Day 2, with collections dropping to Rs 1.9 crore. However, positive word-of-mouth in some regions helped boost its performance on Day 3, with the film earning Rs 2.15 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. As a result, the film's total India net collection after its opening weekend stands at Rs 5.20 crore.
Ground Zero has had a challenging run at the box office, facing tough competition from other major releases like Jaat and Kesari Chapter 2, which continue to draw in large audiences. Adding to the competition is the re-release of the cult classic Andaz Apna Apna, which has further split the attention of moviegoers. For Ground Zero to stay in the race and finish with respectable numbers, it will need to build momentum in the coming days.
Directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, making his Hindi theatrical debut, Ground Zero tells the gripping story of a BSF officer leading an operation against terrorists in the tense aftermath of the 2001 Indian Parliament attack. Alongside Emraan Hashmi, the film features Zoya Hussain and Sai Tamhankar in key roles.
Meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi recently shared a major announcement. The actor is all set to return with Awarapan 2, a sequel to his 2007 hit Awarapan. The film is slated for release on April 3, 2026. Speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, Emraan spills the beans on the much-awaited sequel. 'July end is when we'll start the shoot." In the last one year, the action crime film saw a resurgence on social media with fans making reels, expressing their love for the film, its soundtrack and the chemistry between the lead pair. But Emraan asserts that it's not the public demand and affection in these recent months that nudged them to announce the sequel.

Assam teen arrested for death threat to city rapper and demanding one crore extortion
Navi Mumbai: An 18-year-old college student was arrested in Assam for sending a death threat message to city rapper Mohammad Bilal Shaikh, also known as Emiway Bantai, and demanding Rs 1 crore in extortion. The student, Arnav Ramen Kumar Haloi, claimed to be Goldy Brar, an aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and the alleged mastermind of the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala. The threat message was sent on May 25, coinciding with the release of an online teaser for a music video in tribute to Moose Wala. ACP Mayur Bhujbal said that Haloi, a first-year student from Sonitpur district, Assam, was arrested by the NRI coastal police team on June 1, six days after an FIR was registered for the death threat and extortion demand. Haloi previously sent threat messages to two famous singers in Bihar and Punjab, but they did not lodge police complaints, which may have emboldened him to target rapper Shaikh. He does not have a criminal record and claimed he was not associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. This is being verified by obtaining his mobile CDR details. Haloi stated that his intention was to make quick money by sending death threat messages to extort large sums from famous rappers and singers. An FIR was registered at the NRI coastal police station on May 27 by rapper Shaikh's manager, Pooja Kuila, who received the death threat message on May 25. This was just hours before Emiway Bantai released a music video in tribute to Moose Wala, as a teaser was posted online. The threat message was received while Shaikh was recording a song at his Seawoods studio on the morning of May 25. The message, claiming to be from Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, warned that rapper Emiway Bantai would be killed if he failed to pay Rs one crore within 24 hours. The message also mentioned US-based Rohit Godara, another alleged key member of Bishnoi's gang, suspected to be involved in Moose Wala's murder. ACP Bhujbal stated that the message sender's mobile tower location was traced to Sonitpur district in Assam. The NRI coastal police team went to Assam on May 30 and sought the help of local police to find Haloi's residence address, from where he was arrested on May 31. He was produced before Dhekiajuli court in Sonitpur district, Assam, and his transit remand was obtained. Haloi was brought to Navi Mumbai on June 1 and produced before Belapur JMFC court, which remanded him to police custody until Thursday. An extension of his police custody for two days was obtained as the police are retrieving his previous text messages, which he might have deleted after sending threat messages to others as well.
