Landslide hits Smokey Mountain amid heavy rains
The landslides in two large landfill happened on Thursday afternoon, according to a report of Super Radyo dzBB's Manny Vargas on Dobol B TV.
'Nagpasya kami na ilikas na sila, puwersahan na. Lahat ng nakatira dyan ay inilikas namin at dito dinala sa covered court evacuation center. May naitala po tayo na 54 families, nandito po sila ngayon,' Barangay 128 Kagawad Chito Carza said.
(We decided to evacuate them through forced evacuation. We evacuated everyone who lived there and brought them to the covered court evacuation center. We have recorded 54 families, they are here now.)
The houses of the affected residents have been cordoned off.

Manila is under a state of calamity due to the impact of Tropical Cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong, as well as the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.
The reported death toll across the country due to the bad weather has increased to 25 as of Friday morning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
A total of 3,849,624 people or 1,065,779 families have been affected in all regions except Eastern Visayas.
Floods, landslides, collapsed structures, and tornadoes were reported in the affected areas.
The region with the most number of affected individuals was Central Luzon with 2,296,607, followed by Bicol Region with 316,804 and Calabarzon with 205,825.
Of the total affected population, 167,257 people or 47,522 families were staying in evacuation centers, while 111,454 people or 27,685 families were taking shelter in other places. —Joviland Rita/ VAL, GMA Integrated News

At least 26,000 individuals affected by typhoons and severe weather in Pangasinan received help from GMA Kapuso Foundation. According to "24 Oras," Wednesday, nearly P10 billion in infrastructure damage nationwide was caused by Typhoons Crising, Dante, and Emong, as well as the Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, with over P1 billion of that damage specifically recorded in Pangasinan. Under Silong Kapuso Project, GMA Kapuso Foundation provided roofing materials to homes that had lost their roofs. UAE sends condolences to PH after bad weather left 34 dead
The United Arab Emirates on Wednesday extended its condolences to the Philippine government after Typhoon Emong, along with two other tropical cyclones and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), drenched Metro Manila and northern and central Luzon this month, killing at least 34 people. Tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong, as well as the Habagat, caused massive flooding and landslides, prompting mass evacuations. 'The UAE has expressed its sincere condolences and solidarity with the Republic of the Philippines over the victims of Typhoon Co-may (formerly Emong), which struck Luzon Island accompanied by heavy rainfall,' the UAE embassy in Manila said. 'The typhoon resulted in numerous deaths and injuries, as well as significant damage to property.' Its Ministry of Foreign Affairs also conveyed its 'sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of the Philippines over this tragedy, along with its wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured.' The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Tuesday that 18 were injured and seven others were missing. More than 1.8 million families were affected by the disaster, and at least 20,000 remain in temporary government shelters. There were 586 road sections and 35 bridges damaged, it added. Iloilo City under state of calamity due to impact of enhanced 'Habagat'
The Iloilo City Council has approved in its regular session on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, a recommendation made by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) to place the city under a state of calamity. The declaration, according to the Iloilo City Government, was made following 'assessments on the impacts of the southwest monsoon (Habagat), enhanced by tropical cyclones Crising, Dante and Emong that recently affected the city.' It was cited that the basis for the recommendation is the 'total exposed population to flooding and storm surge, based on 2024 Philippine Statistics Authority data, which is 240,304.' In addition, it was cited that 'fifteen percent of the forecast affected population, based on science-based projection, is 38,062.' Based on the CDRRMO Situation Report as of July 28, 2025, the population affected due to flooding reached a total of 44,723, while at least 12,158 were affected by storm surge.
