2025, in the history of Tamil cinema, will not only be remembered for its blockbusters but also its spectacular failures. It was a year that began with unprecedented expectations but ended up witnessing the downfall of many industry legends. From Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan to Shankar, Suriya, and AR Murugadoss, many celebrated stars and directors faced the wrath of the Rajinikanth's 'Coolie', despite being a money-spinner, was at the receiving end of criticism, mostly aimed at director Lokesh Kanagaraj for his writing. Or the lack of SPECTACULAR STUMBLE: GAME CHANGER THAT DIDN'TShankar, one of India's most celebrated filmmakers, witnessed an epic fall with Ram Charan-starrer 'Game Changer'. The film, which tackles corruption - a recurring topic in his films - was criticised for its poor writing and redundant tropes.
