The defending champion Liberty are mired in a midseason slump without any reason to believe they will turn things around, let alone cover a double-digit point spread.
The Liberty are 12.5-point road favorites against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday with a total of 169.5 points.
The Liberty just lost outright with the exact same matchup on Friday, as the Sun won for just the fifth time in 26 games this season.
The Liberty are still without injured star Breanna Stewart and her absence has overlapped with four straight losses.
Simply, this team just lacks the necessary firepower to be laying double digits. Plus, their defense ranks fourth worst in the league over their past four games.
Meanwhile, Connecticut has the league's worst record and is by no means a good team.
Nevertheless, its 5-21 mark is a bit misleading. Marina Mabrey, arguably their best player, missed nine games (1-8 record) so I will ignore that stretch.
Plus, Connecticut's young players have evolved throughout the season and are playing much better than they did to begin the year. Specifically, rookies Aneesah Morrow and Saniya Rivers both started on Friday and played key roles.
Breanna Stewart, the Liberty's injured star, won't play against the Sun on Aug. 3, 2025.

The Sun have a quality coach, that is one main reason they are 13-13 ATS despite such a bad overall record.
The Liberty will be motivated to bounce back from an embarrassing loss but this still feels like too high of a spread.
I have a 58-48-1 ATS record in this Post sports section and my next play is the Sun +12.5 points.

Just bet $5 on games like Yankees-Rangers or Reds-Cubs and get the bonus bets if your initial wager settles as a win. Click here or on any of our links on this page to start the easy registration process. Every MLB team will be in action tonight across the league, so you will have plenty of choices with your initial $5 bet. The Yankees and Rangers play the second game of a three-game set this evening after Texas came away with a thrilling win in extra innings on Monday. The Reds will try to win a second game against the Cubs after a close 3-2 win in yesterday's series opener. The WNBA also provides five games to bet on tonight: Wings-Liberty, Mystics-Sky, Sun-Mercury, Fever-Sparks and Lynx-Storm. Bet on any of these games for your chance at $150 in bonus bets. Now is a good time to get started, as you will have an opportunity to lock in these bonus bets in time for the first full slate of NFL preseason games set to take place this week. Make sure to look at a wide range of betting options before placing your initial wager. There is no odds requirement with this initial wager, so prioritize the likelihood that your bet will settle as a win, rather than the odds and potential payout. Ben Shelton vs. Alex de Minaur odds, prediction: ATP Toronto picks, best bets

Gambling content 21+. The New York Post may receive an affiliate commission if you sign up through our links. Read our editorial standards for more information. Ben Shelton and Alex de Minaur are like oil and vinegar. While Shelton's game is built on his powerful serve, athleticism, and an improving all-around game, de Minaur earns his keep through his relentlessness, speed, and shot-making. They are a perfect metaphor for what makes tennis such a wonderful sport. They couldn't be more different as players, but here they are meeting for the first time in their careers, ranked No. 7 and No. 8 in the world. Shelton, who is the slightly higher-ranked competitor, is actually the underdog on Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the Canadian Masters in Toronto. The odds are pretty tight by tennis standards – de Minaur is -175 to win the match – and are likely influenced by the amount of time Shelton has spent on the court compared to his Aussie counterpart. Shelton has won in three sets in back-to-back matches, spending exactly five hours on court between the two contests. De Minaur, who is coming off a title at ATP Washington, benefited from a walkover in the Round of 32 before dispatching Frances Tiafoe in his previous match. Alex de Minaur in action at the Canadian Masters. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect De Minaur is always a dangerous player because of his tireless work ethic, but it becomes even trickier to beat him when he's got a full tank. The good news for Shelton is that his game is predicated on keeping things moving and using his serve to win quick, cheap points. That should mute de Minaur's edge in fitness quite a bit. Injuries to key players dampen excitement for WNBA's inaugural Rivals Week

NEW YORK — The WNBA hoped to create some buzz with its inaugural Rivals Week , which is slated to begin on Saturday. Unfortunately, injuries to key players like Napheesa Collier, Breanna Stewart, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese has dampened some of the excitement. The week was set to tip-off with a primetime matchup between Clark's Fever and Reese's Sky on Saturday night. Clark is definitely out while still recovering from a groin strain that's sidelined her already for a few weeks. Reese has missed four of the past five games with a back injury.
