Avatar Fire and Ash trailer out: Jake Sully faces adversity as new enemies rise in James Cameron's magnum opus

Mint28-07-2025
The much-awaited trailer of 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' has finally been unveiled. The film, directed by James Cameron, is the third film of the Avatar franchise.
The trailer opens with a breathtaking shot of a Na'vi soaring through the sky on an Ikran, gliding between Pandora's iconic floating mountains. The scene then transitions to serene, immersive underwater visuals that echo the spiritual journeys seen in the earlier films.
Viewers are introduced to the Wind Traders, an airborne Na'vi clan that relies heavily on flight for travel and survival. Tension begins to build as it becomes clear that Jake Sully (played by Sam Worthington) is somehow separated from his family.
Determined, he ventures alone across Pandora's volatile volcanic landscapes in a desperate effort to reach them.
The trailer also offers a first look at the Ash People—a fierce Na'vi faction led by the formidable Varang—who emerge as adversaries to Jake, Neytiri (played by Zoe Saldana), and their children.
Hints of an impending civil conflict within the Na'vi surface, with Varang positioned in stark opposition to Jake and his family, setting the stage for a deeply personal and tribal struggle.

Terminator-like focus, nuclear-level destruction...: Top filmmaker issues chilling warning about AI, says humans will go extinct if...

Representational Image/AI-generated. AI threat: The rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has triggered alarms among people from all walks of life, including top scientists, technologists, futurists, and even renowned AI scientists whose worked helped develop AI into what it has become today. Now, veteran filmmaker James Cameron has also flagged an extinction-level threat for humanity, stating that AI can cause 'Terminator-like' devastation, and more destruction than any nuclear weapon if human control is not ensured. What did James Cameron say? In an interview with Rolling Stone to talk about his upcoming movie 'Ghosts of Hiroshima', James Cameron, pointed out the dangers posed by use of AI in military systems, as these autonomous machines are capable of cold, calculated decisions, that go beyond human understanding. The Canadian filmmaker, who created sci-fi blockbusters like Avatar, Aliens, and the Terminator franchise, warned that the risk of lethal mistakes with AI will remain, even if a human is in control of the system, and urged world leaders and governments to implement laws which ensure that AI never gets out of human control. Why Cameron called AI one of three big threats for humanity? James Cameron called AI as one of the three major threats faced by humanity today– climate change, advanced nuclear weapons, and super-intelligent AI. The veteran film director said all three of these threats have peaked simultaneously, creating a never-before seen existential-level threat for the humankind. Cameron cited Stanford University survey, according to to which about 36% AI researchers believe that AI can trigger a 'nuclear level catastrophe', noting that AI integration into nuclear weapons is inevitable, as was revealed at an AI conference at the University of Chicago. According to Cameron, a powerful technology like AI needs to be handled with extreme caution, because a minor error could result in an extinction-level event, especially if AI is misused in nuclear weapons. 'People should take inspiration from films and understand the dangers of such a powerful technology,' he said.

James Cameron Gives His Reason For Dedicating His Filmmaking Career to Avatar Franchise: 'People Sometimes Just Want...'

James Cameron has returned to his director's chair for the third Avatar film, Fire and Ash. As the makers and the cast members prepare for the big release, the filmmaker opened up about the reason why he dedicated his filmmaking career to the hit action/sci-fi franchise. While sitting down for a conversation with Rolling Stone, the director revealed that getting into the industry wasn't only about the money but also about the hope of doing good for the world. Previously, in an interview with Empire, Cameron opened up about his plans to develop Avatar's fourth and fifth installments, too, once the upcoming film is released. James Cameron reflects on only directing Avatar movies While in an interview with the media portal, James Cameron opened up about being dedicated to developing only Avatar films throughout his filmmaking career. The director revealed, 'I've justified making 'Avatar' movies to myself for the last 20 years, not based on how much money we made, but on the basis that hopefully it can do some good.' He further added, 'It can help connect us. It can help connect us to our lost aspect of ourself that connects with nature and respects nature and all those things.' Elsewhere in the talks, the director claimed that while the movies are not the answer to human problems, people sometimes just look for entertainment. Cameron explained, 'I think 'Avatar' is a Trojan horse strategy that gets you into a piece of entertainment but then works on your brain and your heart a little bit in a way.' James Cameron's movies outside Avatar franchise As for James Cameron directorials outside of the Avatar franchise, he stepped behind the camera for the classic Leonardo DiCaprio film, Titanic. The movie went on to be nominated for the Oscars, and the cast and the crew won 11 Academy Awards. Additionally, Cameron announced last week that he will be directing the Ghosts of Hiroshima, which will be based on the novel of the same name by Charles Pellegrino. The film will talk about the disastrous nuclear attack and the aftermath. James Cameron is also developing a movie based on Joe Abercrombie's fantasy novel, The Devils. Further details about the upcoming films will be rolled out soon.
