Rod Stewart delights Celtic fans as singer in high spirits at Parkhead
Rod Stewart has been spotted by footballs fans having a whale of a time in the stands of the Scottish Premiership trophy day.
Rod Stewart has been pictured revelling in the stands at Parkhead on trophy day for his beloved Celtic FC.
The Maggie May singer, 80, was joined by his son Alastair Wallace Stewart as they watched St. Mirren take on the Hoops on Saturday.
Rod was in high spirits as he was seen dishing out thumbs up to fellow fans in the crowd while keeping a keen eye on the match.
His appearance comes just days after he backed calls from his fellow fans to adopt Rangers anthem 'Simply The Best' as a new Hoops tune.
A familiar face at Celtic Park, the singer was first introduced to football by his Scottish father Robert Stewart. However, while invoking the love of the game in his son, Robert was unable to get young Rod to support his team Hibernian F.C.
The star has previously flaunted a collection of Celtic themed clothing and memorabilia over the years - going as far as creating a Hoops themed vinyl edition of his latest album.
At the end of his tour in 2023 he revealed a Hoops tattoo. At the time he shared a pic in a tattoo parlour and wrote: "Getting a 'Glasgow Celtic' tattoo in Auckland to celebrate my beloved team 'You're in My Heart'".
His love for the boys in green and white has since passed down to his own son, who was also soaking up the electric atmosphere in Glasgow.
His other children, Aiden and Renee Stewart, are also fans of the team as Rod has previously posted videos of the family dressing up to cheer on the Celts. In one video, Sir Rod was seen to show off his special Celtic logo socks.
In the Instagram post he wrote: " Celtic forever." Renee then went on to post a video of her dad walking around in his special socks, captioning: "You know Celtic is about to play a game when dad has these socks on."
Scottish Premiership trophy day has become Celtic's day with the Parkhead side winning 13 of the last 14 titles.

Tottenham Hotspur have explained their decision to sack manager Ange Postecoglou despite leading them to Europa League glory. The former Celtic boss was axed on Friday evening in a 368-word statement - with Spurs saying it is 'one of the toughest decisions' they have made. While Postecoglou led the club to a European trophy, Tottenham's performance in the English Premier League was deemed unacceptable, finishing 17th - one place above the relegation zone. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Postecoglou had delivered on his promise of 'always' winning in his second season thanks to the 1-0 victory over Manchester United in Bilbao on May 21, etching the Australian's name into the history books as only the third Spurs boss to taste European success and the first in 17 years to lift silverware – provoking an outpouring of affection from a previously split fanbase. Postecoglou even delivered a mic-drop moment during a euphoric open-top bus parade in front of an estimated 220,000 people when he declared 'season three is better than season two', but chairman Daniel Levy had other ideas and has dismissed the man to deliver him a much-craved trophy. A statement from Tottenham read: 'Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties. 'We are extremely grateful to Ange for his commitment and contribution during his two years at the Club. Ange will always be remembered as only the third manager in our history to deliver a European trophy, alongside legendary figures Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw. 'However, the Board has unanimously concluded that it is in the best interests of the Club for a change to take place. Following a positive start in the 2023/24 Premier League (PL) season, we recorded 78 points from the last 66 PL games. This culminated in our worst-ever PL finish last season. At times there were extenuating circumstances - injuries and then a decision to prioritise our European campaign. Whilst winning the Europa League this season ranks as one of the Club's greatest moments, we cannot base our decision on emotions aligned to this triumph. This has been one of the toughest decisions we have had to make and is not a decision that we have taken lightly, nor one we have rushed to conclude. We have made what we believe is the right decision to give us the best chance of success going forward, not the easy decision. Next Spurs manager favourite Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been installed as the bookmakers' favourite to replace Postecoglou, who departs following a rollercoaster ride in his first Premier League role. Postecoglou released a statement via his agency CAA Base, saying: 'When I reflect on my time as manager of Tottenham Hotspur, my overriding emotion is one of pride. The opportunity to lead one of England's historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime.

Ange Postecoglou reacts to Tottenham sacking: ‘We are forever connected'
Ange Postecoglou has said he and Tottenham fans will 'forever' be 'connected', after the club sacked him as coach on Friday. In May, Postecoglou guided Spurs to the Europa League trophy – their first silverware in 17 years – but also their worst-ever Premier League finish, as Tottenham ended up 17th. The north London side lost 22 out of 38 league games amid that campaign, which also saw them exit the FA Cup to Aston Villa in January and suffer a thrashing by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-finals four days earlier. Postecoglou, who joined Tottenham from Celtic in 2023, vowed: 'I always win things in my second year.' And he did, but his stint at Tottenham has come to an end at the culmination of that second year, regardless. 'When I reflect on my time as manager of Tottenham, my overriding emotion is one of pride,' said the Australian, 59, in a statement via his agency CAA Base. 'The opportunity to lead one of England's historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime. Sharing that experience with all those who truly love this club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget. 'That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in a dream. There were many challenges to overcome and plenty of noise that comes with trying to accomplish what many said was not possible. We have also laid foundations that mean this club should not have to wait 17 more years for their next success. I have enormous faith in this group of players and know there is much more potential and growth in them. 'I sincerely want to thank those who are the lifeblood of the club, the supporters. I know there were some difficult times but I always felt that they wanted me to succeed and that gave me all the motivation I needed to push on. 'It's important to acknowledge the hard working people at Spurs who gave me encouragement on a daily basis. And finally, I want to thank those who were with me every day for the last two years. A fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club and the brilliant coaches who never once doubted we could do something special. 'We are forever connected. Audere est Facere [to dare is to do].' Tottenham's own statement read: 'Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties. 'Ange joined us from Celtic in the summer of 2023 and oversaw a period of change on the pitch, returning us to the attacking brand of football that has traditionally been associated with the Club, while writing a new chapter in our history by leading us to Uefa Europa League glory in Bilbao last month – an achievement that will live with us all forever. Next Spurs manager odds: Premier League boss favourite to replace Postecoglou
Three Premier League managers are leading the race to become the next Tottenham Hotspur boss after Ange Postecoglou was sacked. After weeks, if not months of speculation, Postecoglou was axed on Friday evening, two years to the day after he joined the north London club from Celtic. That's despite the Australian masterminding the Europa League final victory against Manchester United in May, ending Spurs' 17-year trophy drought. While that also secured the club's return to the Champions League, Tottenham shockingly finished 17th in the Premier League table, losing 22 of 38 matches. Postecoglou was bullish after the Europa league triumph, telling fans at the trophy parade that: 'All the best TV series, season three is better than season two,' suggesting his job was safe. He did later remark however that: 'Sometimes they kill off the main character,' before season three and that is exactly what Tottenham owner Daniel Levy has done. In terms of who will succeed Postecoglou, the club said in their statement: 'News on the appointment of a new Head Coach will be announced in due course.' 'When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur my overriding emotion is one of pride,' the 59-year-old said after his departure. 'We have also laid foundations that mean this club should not have to wait 7 more years for their next success. I have enormous faith in this group of players and know there is much more potential and growth in them.' Brentford boss Thomas Frank is the overwhelming favourite to get the job according to the bookmakers after his impressive work at west London. The Dane got the Bees promoted to the Premier League for the first time in 2021 and has since established them as a solid mid-table club on a tight budget. Sky Sports report Frank is the 'leading contender' but no talks have taken place between the manager and clubs. More Trending Fulham boss Marco Silva and Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner are frontrunners, the latter having recently guided the Eagles to FA Cup glory, their first ever major trophy.
