Bucs' Calijah Kancey returns to Pitt during the offseason
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their players have been very busy this offseason. From Pro Bowls to NFL Honors, they have been all over and visible in a variety of ways. For some players, though, this offseason has been nothing but focusing on building towards a successful 2025 season, and that includes Calijah Kancey.
The former Bucs first-round pick in 2023, Kancey is coming off a 2024 season that saw him come out of the gates slow due to injury. However, he ended the season on a tear, finishing with 7.5 sacks, up from his 4.5 during his rookie season, and he achieved that with fewer games played.
Kancey posted on social media that he was back at Pittsburgh, where he attended college and worked out in the team's facility. This was a common practice of future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald.
Kancey will be pivotal to the Bucs success in 2025. Todd Bowles has shown that he can develop defensive linemen over the length of his career and the former Pitt Panther is proving to be no different.

We hit 87 in our Raiders countdown to kickoff. Who wore it best and who's wearing it now
We hit 87 in our Raiders countdown to kickoff. Who wore it best and who's wearing it now We've reached 87 days until the Raiders season opener at Foxboro against the Patriots, With our countdown at 87 days we take a look at who currently dons the number in Silver & Black and who has brought it the most distinction. No. 87 Who's wearing it now: TE Michael Mayer The Raiders traded up in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft to select Mayer at 35 overall. After a slow start, the Raiders were a bad team and found themselves in position to draft Brock Bowers, so they did. Instantly Mayer went from the guy they wanted bad enough to trade up to the top of the second round, to playing second fiddle to Bowers. Which, to be honest, if you are going to take a backseat to anyone, he's the guy who you can't really feel too bad about. Mayer enters his third season with 460 yards and two touchdowns on 48 catches. After missing six games last season to 'personal reasons' he returned and has settled into his role as the Raiders' number two tight end. He and Bowers have the potential to make for one of the better one-two punches at tight end in the league. Who wore it best: TE Dave Casper A Hall of Famer. One of the greatest tight ends in NFL history. The man of whom the legendary 'Ghost to the Post' play is named after. He went to five straight Pro Bowls from 1976-1980 with four straight All Pro nods in there as well. And the Raiders won two Super Bowls during that time. In 1977 -- a year the Raiders did not win the Super Bowl -- Casper had five touchdowns in two playoff games.

Former Falcons QB Legend Had High Praise For Michael Penix Jr
Former Falcons QB Legend Had High Praise For Michael Penix Jr originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Atlanta Falcons legend Mike Vick made a surprise appearance in Flowery Branch during Atlanta's OTAs this past week and had high praise for Michael Penix Jr., who is set to start his first full season in the NFL and be a significant contributing face of the franchise in Atlanta. Advertisement 'I'm excited for Mike. I think this is going to be an amazing season for him,' said Vick. "Just watching him practice it looks like everything has slowed down. He made good reads, moved well in the pocket.' Atlanta Falcons QB Mike Vick scrambles against the Tennessee Titans. Photo by Dale Zanine Imagn Images Copyright (c) 2006 Dale Zanine Vick would also say, 'With some complimentary players around him like Bijan and Drake and Kyle, these guys are really going to do some special things this year." If anyone knows how to be a dynamic or generational talent on the football field, it's Mike Vick. During his time in Atlanta, Vick made three Pro Bowls while leading the Falcons to two playoff appearances and one NFC Championship appearance during their 2004-2005 season. Over the course of six seasons, Vick threw for 11,505 yards and 71 touchdowns while rushing for 3,859 total yards and 21 touchdowns. Advertisement Penix Jr. played in five games last year and started the final three of the season after Kirk Cousins was benched. During that time, Penix completed 58% of his passes and threw for 3 touchdowns. As last season wound down, Penix Jr. was starting to develop chemistry with wide receiver Drake London. It will be interesting to see how it all comes together in Atlanta if the optimism from late last season transfers over into something special in Atlanta during the 2025 season. As for Mike Vick, he will be stepping away from sports media and has accepted the head coaching position at Norfolk State University in his home state of Virginia. We hit 88 in our Raiders countdown to kickoff. Who wore it best and who's wearing it now
We hit 88 in our Raiders countdown to kickoff. Who wore it best and who's wearing it now Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads. Let's bring this puppy down to 88 days until the Raiders season opener at Foxboro against the Patriots, That is to say our countdown hits 88 days so let's look at who has brought it in Silver & Black wearing that number. No. 88 Who's wearing it now: TE Justin Shorter Shorter was originally a fifth round pick by the Bills in the 2023 NFL Draft. His rookie season was lost to injury and then he was released in the final roster cuts prior to the start of last season. Two days later, the Raiders signed him to their practice squad. He was signed to the active roster in November, but has yet to record his first NFL catch. Worth noting is, Shorter was a college wide receiver and in the first minicamp practice this week, he was working with the wide receivers, not the tight ends. So, it seems possible the Raiders could have some other plans for him. Or they're just experimenting to see where he would best fit onto this roster. Who wore it best: TE Raymond Chester Chester had two stints with the Raiders. He began his career as a first round pick in 1970, making Pro Bowls in each of his first three seasons. At that time he was wearing the number 87. After four seasons in Oakland, he five seasons with the Baltimore Colts. Then he returned to Oakland in 1978 and the final four seasons of his career in Silver & Black. This time wearing the number 88. During that time, he made another Pro Bowl and following the 1980 season, he had 12 catches for 202 yards and a touchdown, helping the Raiders win their second Super Bowl.
