Dad of 'lifelong fan' who fell to death at Oasis gig pays heartbreaking tribute
The father of an Oasis fan who plunged to death at their Wembley Stadium gig has paid a heartbreaking tribute to his "lovely, lovely" son.
Lee Claydon, from Bournemouth in Dorset, was pronounced dead on Saturday after sustaining "injuries consistent with a fall". The 45-year-old is thought to have fallen from the upper tier balcony of the stadium during the concert. Lee leaves behind his son, dad, partner, brothers, sisters, nephews and niece.
His father Clive Claydon, 75, has now revealed that his son was a "lifelong" fan of the band, and had been excited to see them live along with his brother Aaron, and his niece and nephew. It comes after a mum left a 16-month-old baby home alone to die when she went on holiday.
Clive told The Sun: 'He was a lifelong Oasis fan and he was so looking forward to going. Out of all the thousands of people there why's it got to be my son?"
He said Lee lived with his partner and son Harry in Bournemouth, and was "lovely, lovely bloke" who "no one could say a bad thing about ever."
At the weekend, shocked gig-goers described witnessing the horror moment the dad fell from the balcony during the lively concert. Writing on social media, one parent said her teenage son "saw him falling" but couldn't see the landing, while another woman said she saw the man fall into their block, calling the incident "awful".
Claire Collier posted: "It happened about [five] mins before the end of the gig, it was awful... thinking of his family and friends and everyone that witnessed it."
Vincent Muylle, who was also at the gig, described the mood inside the venue as "euphoric" until the "very shocking" fall occurred. "He fell, right in front of us," he recounted. Petrina Whiley also spoke of the collective disbelief among those who were in the block the following day, saying: "I think we are all in a state of shock at what happened last night."
A GoFundMe page has been set up in the hope that any donations, big or small, will go a long way towards helping his family throughout this awful period. A message on the page reads: "Lee was a loving family man who was a role model to his son Harry and was loved so much by all his family. Lee would have done anything for any of us and he was taken from us far too soon and we will miss him so very much
"Lee loved all outdoor activities, one of his favourite hobbies was fishing. He also loved music and his guitar. He also really enjoyed going to watch and support the boys and his nephew at their football games. Amanda and the boys have our full support at this very sad time which is why we would love to be able to help them financially as well as emotionally.
"Please help us raise as much funds as we can to take one worry off Amanda and family right now as they are going through any family's worst nightmare."
A statement released by the band following the incident said: "We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved."

The Sun exclusively revealed how the pair - who met in 2019 while playing brothers in the ITV soap - walked down the aisle in a £100k ceremony. 3 Max and Kris pulled out all the stops for their wedding this week 3 They hosted a Max Ball for the beginning of their evening 3 Girls Aloud icon Nadine Coyle performed at Kris' Kiki Klub for the afters The lads celebrated their nuptials with a lavish multi-day wedding at the exclusive Wilderness Reserve in Suffolk where costs start at a whopping £65,000. But after an incredible day that saw the couple exchange vows and then enter their wedding reception in an explosion of rainbow smoke, they sat down for an elaborate meal with their 100 plus guests. Celebrities in attendance included Code of Silence breakout star Kieron Moore and Love Island's Callum Jones. A full band played while the guests tucked into their meals outdoors with huge chandeliers keeping them all illuminated. Handwritten and personalised notes to each guest were laid out along with some wedding favours including Jo Malone goodies and Charbonnel et Walker truffles. But it was after the meal finished that things got started with the couple hosting their own version of The Met Ball - The Max Ball - with its own swanky red carpet. And as the sun went down, Kris' Kiki Klub took over with an incredible night club atmosphere with an A-list girlbander taking to the stage. The couple surprised their guests with a performance from Girls Aloud icon Nadine Coyle. A source said: 'Everyone went mad when the music began and she walked out on stage. 'They knew Max and Kris were going all out for the wedding but to get pop royalty like Nadine Coyle to perform was next level. The Sun exclusively revealed how the pair's relationship developed in 2020 after they both appeared on Emmerdale playing brothers Luke and Lee Posner. Real-life soap couples Soaps are renowned for their sweet and scandalous romances – but it's not just in scripted storylines where love is blossoming. A number of our favourite small-screen actors have fallen for co-stars and soapland rivals when the cameras have stopped rolling. Max Parker and Kris Mochrie Despite playing brothers Luke and Lee Posner on Emmerdale, the pair never actually shared any scenes together. But the pair still fell in love after meeting on set. Max and Kris got together in 2020, moving in together later than same year and got engaged in 2022. In a sweet Instagram post, the couple confirmed they're planning a 2025 wedding. Beth Cordingly and Ian Kelsey Beth, who plays Ruby Fox-Miligan, announced her love for her co-star Ian Kelsey, who played Dean Glover, shortly after she joined Emmerdale at the beginning of 2024. 'I am very in love with Ian and very happy. I think it really does work him being an actor too. He has been so fantastic," she gushed. Laura Norton and Mark Jordan Kerry Wyatt and Daz Eden actors Laura and Mark met on the set of Emmerdale in 2014. The couple, who got engaged in 2018, told Loose Women they spent a long time deciding whether they should "just stay as friends." Although it seems they were meant to be and the pair now share two children together. Zoe Henry and Jeff Hordley Emmerdale favourites Zoe and Jeff, who play Rhonda Goskirk and Cain Dingle met at drama college in 1994 and have been together ever since. While working together might be too much for some couples, that's definitely not the case for Zoe and Jeff. Zoe previously told The Sun: "Working on the same show as Jeff also helps because if one of us is having a bad day then the other will completely understand." Lesley Dunlop and Chris Chittell Lesley and Chris are another Dales romantic success story. Unlike some of the other soap stars, the pair who play Brenda Walker and Eric Pollard, are together on and off screen, officially tying the knot in 2016. They also adore working together, but have clear home-work boundaries. "We make a point of not talking about Emmerdale when we're at home, though – that would be just too sad, wouldn't it?" Chris revealed. Sally Carman and Joe Duttine Abi Franklin and Tim Metcalfe actors Sally and Joe got together after meeting on the set of Coronation Street in 2017 and they tied the knot in July 2022. But unlike some of the Emmerdale stars, Sally and Joe prefer that their characters don't interact much. Sally previously admitted it "would be horrendous" to work on a storyline with Joe because "he's too funny." Anthony Cotton and Peter Eccleston Sean Tully may have been unlucky in love on the cobbles, but in real life Antony's met his Prince Charming. The soap star started dating long-term partner Peter in 2005, after they met when he was working as an assistant props buyer on Corrie. Jane Danson and Robert Beck Corrie favourite Jane Danson tied the knot with soap star Robert Beck in 2005. The actress, who plays Leanne Battersby, shares two children, Harry and Sam, with the former Brookside star. During their marriage, Robert has also done a stint in Weatherfield playing criminal Jimmy Dockerson. Caroline Harding and Chris Gascoyne Chris, who played pub landlord Peter Barlow, married soap star Caroline in 2002. Although she is best known as an Emmerdale star, Caroline did visit her husband at work when she did a two-episode stint as doctor on the Manchester soap in 2020. The couple share a daughter called Belle, plus two children, Pip and Freddie from Caroline's previous marriage. Nadine Mulkerrin and Rory Douglas Speed Nadine Mulkerrin, and Rory Doulas Speed are known for their Hollyoaks alter egos Cleo McQueen and Joel Dexter. Sophie Austin and Shayne Ward Former Hollyoaks star Sophie, whose best known for playing villain Lindsay Butterfield, was introduced to singer and ex-Corrie star Shayne through mutual friends. She gave birth to their daughter Willow in December 2016 and they welcomed a son in 2022. Christine and Paddy McGuinness 'struggling to sell £6.5m mansion' they still live in
Paddy McGuinness and Christine McGuinness announced the end of their marriage in 2022, but have continued to live together in the family's Cheshire home whilst co-parenting their three children. Paddy McGuinness and Christine McGuinness are reportedly facing challenges in selling their family mansion. Following earlier reports this year, it's been suggested that Christine is keen to sell the property and start fresh. Paddy, 51, and Christine, 37, who share three children together, went public with their split back in 2022. Despite the seperation, the pair have remained living together in their Cheshire family home while jointly raising their children. However earlier in the year, it emerged that they had listed their seven-bedroom abode for sale at £6.5 million. However it's believed there has been very little interest in the residence, according to reports in the Mirror. The house, boasting a gym among other lavish features, has reportedly been on the market for four months. The Sun explained that even for its location, the price is steep, with a source indicating that the housing market is currently "a bit flat". A source disclosed to the publication: "It's a lovely house with all mod cons in a fantastic location but there's been very little interest. It's the most expensive house in Prestbury on Rightmove but it appears the market's a bit flat right now". When Paddy and Christine announced their divorce after an 11 year marriage in 2022, they voiced their intention to remain living together. They made the decision for their three children, 11 year old twins Leo and Penelope, and eight-year-old Felicity. Their joint statement read at the time: "We'll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together." The former couple have opened up about their decision to stay under the same roof for co-parenting purposes. During her appearance on the Shizzio Show, which aired back in March, Christine divulged details of their unique living situation. Christine revealed that they occupy "separate" areas within the house. She explained: "We separated three years ago and we are completely divorced, and we live in separate parts of the house but we share a family home". Rumours have circulated that Christine is eager to put the property on the market. Reports also suggested that the Real Housewives of Cheshire star was feeling "utterly miserable" with the arrangement of living alongside her ex-husband. An insider confided to the Daily Mail about her inability to continue sharing a home with Paddy. The source disclosed: "Christine is at the end of her tether and can't carry on living with Paddy". At that time, the source also hinted at Christine's wishes to downsize in the future. They remarked: "She is desperate to sell the house, split the proceeds, and buy a smaller property where she can live happily with their three children".
