Lamborghini reveals new race-ready Temerario GT3

Like the chassis, the bodywork has been engineered for rapid disassembly and reassembly, minimising time spent in the pits. The front and rear ends, for example, are each constructed from a single piece of composite material while the engine cover and bonnet have also been designed for rapid removal. Even the front lights are fitted with a quick-connect system to allow for fast replacement in the event of on-track contact.
Another thoughtful tweak is the GT3 car's four-part aerodynamic undertray: the centre section can be swapped while the vehicle sits on its built-in air jacks. The refuelling system has also been redesigned to allow a faster flow rate, while the fuel tank has been reconfigured to accommodate a new sensor offering more accurate readings.
With the hybrid system removed to comply with regulations, the Temerario GT3 is powered by a 4.0 l twin-turbocharged V8 engine delivering 410kW (subject to balance of performance adjustments). The race spec motor features a flat-plane crankshaft, titanium conrods, a custom Capristo exhaust system and a redesigned airbox tailored for the GT3 spec turbochargers.
Lamborghini says it has also recalibrated the engine for a broader, more usable rev range. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a new six-speed transverse gearbox.

Red Bull reprimanded after Verstappen throws out the towel

Formula One stewards reprimanded Red Bull on Friday for a bizarre incident involving Max Verstappen throwing a face towel out of his car and onto the track during Hungarian Grand Prix practice. The four-time world champion was summoned after the second session at the Hungaroring as stewards reviewed the video evidence. 'Shortly after Car 1 was released from its garage, the driver of Car 1 (Verstappen) was observed to have thrown a towel out of the cockpit,' they said in a statement. 'The driver explained that while in the garage, the face towel had slipped from his lap to the side of the seat and the team was unaware that it remained in the cockpit. 'When the driver realised it was there, he moved to the far right of the track and attempted to throw it as far away from the car and the track as possible.' The towel landed on the asphalt, however, and remained there to the end of the session. The stewards accepted that the towel was more dangerous in than out, with the potential to become lodged in the footwell and interfere with Verstappen's ability to control the car fully. They also ruled that Red Bull had therefore released the car in an unsafe condition, though less serious than leaving a hard object in the cockpit.

Verstappen ends speculation, confirms Red Bull stay for next season

Four-times Formula One world champion Max Verstappen has ended speculation about a move to Mercedes next season by confirming for the first time on Thursday that he will race on with Red Bull. "I think it's time to stop all the rumours. For me, it was always quite clear that I was staying," the Dutch driver told reporters ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix. "And that was the general feeling in the team because we are always in discussion about what we could do with the car and when you're not staying you stop talking about these kind of things. And I never did." Formula One starts a new engine era next year in a major shake-up that could change the pecking order, with Mercedes expected to lead the way while Red Bull are making their own power unit after a split with Honda. Reigning champion Verstappen has known break clauses in his contract but they have not been triggered, with the 27-year-old third in the standings at the mid-point and with two wins from 13 races. It was widely accepted in Formula One that Verstappen would be staying, with the rumour-mill already turning to a possible exit from Red Bull in 2027 with performance clauses again applying next year. Verstappen otherwise has a Red Bull contract that runs through 2028. The sacking of Christian Horner this month as Red Bull team boss was also widely seen as another step by the energy drink company to convince the sport's most sought-after driver to stay with them. "Some people just like to stir the pot, some people just like to create drama. But, for me, it's always been quite clear," said Verstappen. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff said last week that retaining his current lineup of George Russell and Italian Kimi Antonelli was a priority. Russell told reporters separately at the Hungaroring that he was sure to be racing for Mercedes next year but nothing would be signed until after the August break, which follows the Hungarian race. While Russell's current deal expires at the end of the year, he has been under a management contract with Mercedes since he was 16 – meaning his employers are effectively negotiating with themselves. "Conversations have started but we are now heading into the summer break," said Russell. "Toto and I have spoken a lot this week but we haven't spoken once about the contract because we're both trying to solve the car's performance and get the team in the right place. "And I personally want to go into the summer break and enjoy the only two weeks off I have in the year and I don't want to be thinking about contracts," he added. "There isn't really a major time pressure now from my side, nor from Mercedes' side."

Hungary for more: Oscar Piastri returns to Hungaroring as F1 leader

Oscar Piastri has got used to winning since his first in Hungary last year and returns as Formula One leader looking to take a tidy advantage over McLaren teammate Lando Norris into the August break. The 24-year-old has won six of 13 grands prix so far this season, already more than any Australian driver has ever managed in a single year, and leads his British rival by 16 points with 11 races remaining. 'I'm really excited to go back. It's always a fun weekend. It's a great city, a cool track as well,' said Piastri after winning a rain-delayed race in Belgium last Sunday in McLaren's sixth one-two of the season. 'I'm sure Thursday will be nice to go back to where I had my first win. But as soon as we get on track, you forget about that immediately.' Hungary — hot and twisty and with a layout more like an overgrown go-kart track that makes overtaking tricky — puts a premium on qualifying. Norris took pole last time in Hungary but lost out to Piastri at the start, recovered the lead when the Australian suffered a slower pit stop and was then ordered by the team to hand back the place. The Briton eventually complied but it rankled at the time and he will be looking to win on Sunday without any such controversy. With McLaren dominant, and historically the most successful team in Hungary, the stage is set for another duel between the teammates. Who joins them on the podium remains an open question but this could be the moment Lewis Hamilton has been waiting for with Ferrari, while teammate Charles Leclerc has had five podiums already this season. Hamilton has an unrivalled record at the Hungaroring with eight wins and was third last year, admittedly in a Mercedes, behind the McLarens. He also has nine poles at the circuit outside Budapest. 'In the last few races, we've made progress in terms of competitiveness, and in Belgium, thanks to a lot of hard work back in Maranello, we introduced an upgrade package that further improved our performance,' said team boss Fred Vasseur. 'It will be interesting to see how the updated SF-25 performs on a completely different track, twisty, with plenty of medium and low-speed corners. Charles and Lewis are both in good form, and the team is also performing well.' George Russell set the fastest lap last year for Mercedes but his team have made some wrong turns in development and have work to do, with Italian rookie Kimi Antonelli also keen to get back in the points. 'After a tough weekend in Belgium, we are looking to put in a more competitive showing,' said team boss Toto Wolff. 'Our performances in recent races have not been up to our standards, and we have work planned to both understand why that has been and get on top of it this weekend.' Four-times world champion Max Verstappen, winner in Hungary in 2022 and 2023, will be starting his 200th race for Red Bull. The race is the 40th Hungarian Grand Prix and Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso, who took his first win at the circuit with Renault in 2003, has raced in more than half of them, this being his record 22nd.
