URC: Kick off times for semi-finals
The Bulls and Sharks kept the South African flag flying in a drama-filled knockout round of the URC this past weekend, and they will now face off in an all-South African semi-final in Pretoria this Saturday. To qualify for the final four, the the Bulls had to deliver under pressure in a competitive encounter against Edinburgh in Pretoria on Saturday to register a 42-33 victory. Meanwhile, there was drama in Durban, where the Sharks and Munster drew 24-24 after 80 minutes, which forced the match into extra time, and then a penalty shootout, which the hosts won 6-4. Log-leaders Leinster will face the Glasgow Warriors in the first semi-final, at 15:45 (SA time) at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin this Saturday after they defeated the Scarlets 33-21 in the other quarter-final. The Bulls and Sharks will then clash from 18:15 at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria for a place in the Grand Final. Both home teams will be regarded as favourites going into the penultimate round of the competition, and both the Bulls and Sharks will certainly be determined to produce vastly improved performances. 'We didn't play particularly well in the first 20-30 minutes of the game, but then we got on top,' Sharks coach John Plumtree commented after the quarter-final. 'We had a couple of bad moments when they got to 21-10 and then we just clawed our way back in [to the game]. 'And going down to the kickers like that, I was just so proud of them.' Meanwhile, Bulls coach Jake White said that at least the team was consistently showing a fighting spirit. 'People think the team placed seventh must lose to the team that finishes second,' he said. 'But look at Leinster – they lost to Scarlets and us during the league phase and only just got through their quarter-final. 'We were down but got a [winning] result. Whereas the last time we played them [Edinburgh], we didn't.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Nonku Williams leaves 'The Real Housewives of Durban'
In a shocking and unexpected announcement, Nonku Williams, the longest-serving housewife in Africa, has exited ' The Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD) .' The reality star rose to fame through the show after joining its first season, quickly becoming a household name with a loyal fan base. After entertaining fans for five seasons on the Showmax hit The Real Housewives of Durban, Nonku Williams has officially left the show. She announced her exit in an emotional and detailed post on her Instagram account. The reality star shared that she is stepping away from the franchise to prioritise her mental health, well-being, and personal growth. She also revealed that she won't be attending the reunion, disappointing many viewers who were expecting her to show up. They wanted her to take accountability for her actions this season and address questions about her character. Nonku has stirred controversy this season, with many viewers expressing disappointment in her behaviour. While some still believe she's reality TV gold, bringing the sass and drama that helped make the show a success, it seems she didn't win many hearts this time. The mother of two revealed that after watching herself on TV, she has realised that the woman she sees is not someone she recognises or respects. 'After much reflection, I've made the difficult decision not to return to the show and to distance myself from the reunion. It's not an easy choice, but it's one I must make. Watching myself on screen, I'm confronted with a reality that's hard to accept. The woman I see isn't someone I recognise or respect.' Reflecting on her journey with the show, she shared that the toxic cycle of women being pitted against each other, constant negativity, conflict, and drama no longer aligns with who she wants to be. She said it's time to choose peace and personal growth. 'I've played a role in shaping this narrative, but I'm also a product of the show's dynamics. The relentless pursuit of drama, the pitting of women against each other, the gossip, and the put-downs – it's a toxic cycle that wears me down,' she wrote. Nonku further opened up about her decision to walk away from the show, sharing: 'As I look to the future, I'm reminded of my responsibilities – to myself, my children, my faith, and the community. I want to make a difference, to leave a positive mark on the world. But this show, with its destructive tendencies, isn't the platform for that. I've come to realise that I have a responsibility to myself to prioritise my well-being, to protect my mental health, and to surround myself with positivity.' She further said that she chooses this to be a better role model for her kids and to positively impact her community. 'To those who've supported me throughout this journey, I'm grateful. I acknowledge my part in the chaos, but I also recognise the show's role in shaping our narratives. I'm choosing to break free from this cycle, to seek a path that uplifts and inspires. She further said, 'I'm choosing to use my platform to spread love, kindness, and positivity. I'm choosing to be a role model for my children and for others who may be watching. I'm choosing to prioritise my well-being and to take care of myself,' she said. ARE YOU GOING TO MISS NONKU ON RHODURBAN? Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1 . THEORY: Real reason why Orlando Pirates didn't win the league
Orlando Pirates came short in their push for the Betway Premiership title. There were a few factors, but one isn't talked about enough. When Thabiso Sesane was cut down with a serious injury, nobody knew how profound an effect that event would have on Pirates' title charge. On paper, central defence is arguably the team's deepest resource with Tapelo Xoki, Olisa Ndah and Nkosinathi Sibisi as options. However, Ndah has battled injuries and both Xoki and Sibisi have suffered dips in form. The late-season emergence of an outstandingly gifted teenager, Mbekezeli Mbokazi, has been a huge boost, but none of the club's existing centre-halves have Sesane's unique skill set. The 25-year-old was quietly and effectively becoming the marshal of Pirates' back four. It's hoped that he'll be fit in time for the early stages of the 2025-2026 campaign. What did Makgopa and Mabasa do to offend Hugo Broos? Thabiso Sesane at the Orlando Stadium. Image: @orlandopiratesfc/X One X user said: 'Do not touch King Hotto,' presumably suggesting that the club would be foolish to release the versatile 34-year-old Deon Hotto. The Namibian is still a dependable player and popular among fans and teammates, and managers, comfortable in several positions and tactical systems. Since joining from Wits in 2020, club stalwart Hotto has notched up over 200 appearances, collecting six trophies. To say he's an underrated performer is a massive understatement. Broos explains why he likes Orlando Pirates star Selepe Is Sesane the best central defender in South Africa when fit? Let us know by leaving a comment below or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211.
