Carnival Cruise Line makes sudden cruise cancellation
While many loyal Carnival cruisers are still reeling from the news that Carnival is turning its loyalty program upside down beginning next summer in favor of a spend-based rewards system, certain passengers sailing soon got even more distressing news.

Following a wave of spring 2026 cruise cancellations caused by changes to the schedule for Carnival cruise ship dry dock maintenance and refurbishment, Carnival is adding one more cruise to the list of those canceled this year.
Although cruise lines will always try to give as much notice as possible when schedule changes and cancellations must be made, sometimes last-minute changes can't be avoided.
Unfortunately, this was this case for the latest Carnival cruise cancellation, as well as an unexpected itinerary change for Princess Cruises' World Cruise that's currently sailing in Africa.
Doug Parker shared details on the unexpected reason behind the last-minute Carnival cruise cancellation, as well as why Princess Cruises' World Cruise was diverted in Africa, on the June 24th edition of Cruise News Today.

Good morning, here's your cruise news for Tuesday, June 24th.
Carnival Cruise Line has canceled the July 6th sailing of Carnival Liberty due to labor issues at a shipyard over in Europe. Yeah, the ship currently in dry dock was moved from Cadiz, Spain to Marseille, France after labor disputes delayed its refurbishment.
Passengers were just notified two weeks before departure of this cancellation. All guests will receive full refunds and a future cruise credit.
Carnival will also cover up to $200 per person for that non-refundable airfare. The ship's next sailing, July 13th out of New Orleans, is supposed to go on as scheduled.

And Carnival Cruise Line is showing off the first completed images of its new private destination, Celebration Key, set to open up next month on Grand Bahama Island.
The 65-acre site features massive freshwater lagoons, a 10-story sun castle with waterslides, and the world's largest swim-up bar. Yeah. You'll also find floating cabanas and a coral-themed splash pad for the kids, while adults have an upscale beach club.
Built over the past three years at a cost of $500 million, Celebration Key will be exclusive to Carnival guests starting on July 19th.

And severe weather is forcing Princess Cruises' Crown Princess to change course, skipping a planned stop in Cape Town, South Africa.
Now the ship is on a 113-night World Cruise, and has encountered strong winds and heavy swells along South Africa's southern coast. The captain says it's unsafe to proceed as planned, with warnings in effect for damaging waves and gale-force winds.
Crown Princess began the voyage in late May and is scheduled to return to New Zealand in September.

And cruise stocks ended the day mostly flat on Monday. Carnival Corporation: 23.94, Royal Caribbean: 273.08, Norwegian: down 1%, 18.58, and Viking: 49.48.

Majestic Princess will only sail from Southampton in summer 2026
A popular Princess cruise ship that is one of the biggest cruise ships in the UK is set to be based in Southampton next year. Princess Cruises' Majestic Princess is a frequent visitor of the city but since being built in 2017, the ship has never been based wholly in Southampton for a full summer season. But that is all set to change next year as from April 2026, the vessel will be offering sailings to the British Isles and France all out of Southampton. Although people tend to point to Carnival Cruise Line anytime there's a report of cruise passengers behaving badly, Royal Caribbean has seen its fair share of altercations, too. And social media loves a April, Carnival Cruise Line received a lot of negative attention when a wild brawl broke out among 24 of its passengers in a Galveston cruise terminal. Now, just days after an even bigger brawl broke out between vacationers at Royal Caribbean's private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, another Carnival cruise passenger clash was caught on video at a Long Beach, Calif. terminal. Although cruise lines make it clear that they won't hesitate to ban passengers for participating in physical altercations, these recent incidents are leading more cruisers to call for cruise lines to take it even further. Some cruisers think cruise lines should maintain a common, industry-wide 'Do Not Sail' list — meaning if you get banned from one cruise line, you're banned from all. Good morning, here's your cruise news for Friday, August 8th. A passenger on Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas was injured on Thursday when part of the Frightening Bolt waterslide broke mid-ride. Yeah, this footage here is scary — from Sunny Side Soul on Facebook — shows the aftermath of water pouring on the deck after the piece of the slide fell down. Now a Royal Caribbean spokesperson told Cruise News Today, 'Our team provided medical care to an adult guest when acrylic glass broke off the water slide as the guest passed through the slide.'It went on to say, 'the guest is being treated for his injuries. The water slide is closed for the remainder of the sailing pending an investigation.' A witness on board told us that no one was in the area below when the piece of the slide fell. The cause of the break has not been confirmed. The Frightening Bolt waterslide is located on deck 15 of Icon and is touted to be the tallest drop slide at sea, part of the Category 6 Waterpark. Another cruise passenger fight breaks out at Carnival terminal And a fight shockingly broke out at the Long Beach Cruise Terminal just before passengers started boarding the Carnival Firenze for a four-night sailing. Video posted to social media from the X account @rororowyaboatz shows the scuffle just before entering the cruise terminal. Now this isn't the first terminal fight. Carnival Jubilee guests got into it this past April after a seven-night western Caribbean cruise, leading to a few arrests. This news follows a fight this past weekend at Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay where a wedding party got into it at the main me ask you, should there be a universal 'Do Not Sail' list like the airlines have for flying? As Storm Floris hit the U.K. with raging winds and heavy rain on Aug. 4, several cruise ships sailing British Isles cruises in the region got caught in angry seas. In Scotland, Storm Floris is being called the 'most damaging summer storm in recent memory' by electricity providers. The storm brought wind gusts of more than 100mph in some parts of northern Scotland, leaving tens of thousands of homes without power and suspending trains while crews worked to clear fallen cruise ships sailing in and around Scotland this week on British Isles cruises, the storm meant missed ports of call and sailing through some rough seas to get to calmer waters and alternate ports. While cruise ship captains will always sail the safest route possible and avoid putting their ships and their passengers in danger, sometimes heavy seas can't be entirely avoided. Although Princess Cruises' Regal Princess canceled two of its scheduled port stops in northern Scotland to stay ahead of Storm Floris, the ship still had to sail through some turbulent waters in order to avoid the worst of the weather. Good morning, here's your cruise news for Tuesday, August 5th. Waves reaching 40 feet and wind gusts up to 90 miles per hour creating rough conditions for some cruise ships. This is all driven by Storm Floris. The weather system is disrupting cruise itineraries this morning across the U.K. and Norwegian coasts. A report to our tip line from a passenger sailing on Regal Princess showed the ship experiencing a steady five- to seven-degree list when winds hit the ship at 90 miles per ship is skipping Invergorden and heading straight to Liverpool tomorrow. Other ships impacted are Holland America's Nieuw Statendam, Norwegian's Dawn, Ambassador's Ambience, and Seabourn Sojourn. Sign up for the Come Cruise With Me newsletter. MSC Cruises cancels future cruise season from New York City And MSC Cruises is scaling back operations in New York. The line confirmed via a letter to guests that MSC Meraviglia will stop sailing from the city after April of '26. We've received over a dozen emails from guests impacted with a letter from the ship saying the vessel will reposition to Europe for the summer and then return to Miami for the winter season, not New York. As of now, no MSC sailings are scheduled from New York for the summer of '27. Guests with canceled bookings are being offered rebooking options or full refunds. The move though does raise questions about MSC's long-term commitment to the Northeast Voyages makes first call to Iceland, Nordic region And Virgin Voyages marked a milestone this week as Scarlet Lady made her first-ever stop in Iceland. It's Virgin's official debut in the Nordic region. Meanwhile, Brilliant Lady, Virgin's fourth ship, is en route to the U.K. and Lisbon for preview events just ahead of her inaugural sailing from New York next month. Her first season will span four U.S. cities with Alaska added to her itinerary next cruise stocks were up on Monday. Carnival Corporation: up 2.2%, 29.72. Royal Caribbean: up slightly, 315.70.
