Lindsay Lohan hopes Freakier Friday helps people forget

Lindsay Lohan hopes Freakier Friday helps cinemagoers to "forget about what's going on" in the world.
The 39-year-old actress has reunited with Jamie Lee Curtis for the new fantasy-comedy film, which is a sequel to 2003's Freaky Friday, and Lohan hopes the movie will help to lift spirits.
Lohan - who starred alongside Jamie in the original film - told the BBC of her hopes for the sequel.
"Fans love the movie and there's such a strong loyalty. It made people so happy and I like to make movies that make people feel joy," she said.
"There's so much going on in the world now that it's nice to make something that allows people to forget about what's going on."
Curtis recently admitted she developed a close bond with Lohan after they starred together in Freaky Friday more than two decades ago.
"I felt tremendous maternal care for Lindsay after the first movie and continued to feel that," she told the Guardian newspaper.
"She and I have remained friends and now we're sort of colleagues. I feel less maternal towards her because she's a mommy now herself and doesn't need my maternal care, and has, obviously, a mom – Dina's a terrific grandma."
Curtis insists that Lohan doesn't need any life advice from her.
"I'm bossy, very bossy, but I try to mind my own business. She doesn't need my advice. She's a fully functioning, smart woman, creative person. Privately, she's asked me questions, but nothing that's more than an older friend you might ask," she said.
Lohan has been through lots of high-profile ups and downs in her life, but she recently claimed that she's now "wiser" and more "settled" than ever before.
"I'm at ease in my life because I've lived, I feel like, such a long life at such a young age. I feel wiser now and very settled. I've become such a positive person," she told People.

Jamie Lee Curtis gives blunt response to Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson's romance

Jamie Lee Curtis is defending Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson's love story. The 'Freakier Friday' star, 66, shared a blunt message to the public about the 'Naked Gun' actors' rumored romance in a new interview with 'VT.' 'With all due respect to pop culture, if love has found its way into that relationship, God bless them both,' Curtis said, adding, 'Leave them the f*** alone. And let them like each other.' 'Both of them have had hardship, and they're both beautiful human beings,' Curtis continued of the stars as she got choked up. 'If they actually have found an intimate love with each other, we should all go to bed tonight feeling better.' Curtis also called Anderson, 58, 'a beautiful person' and noted that the 'Baywatch' alum 'was fantastic' in their 2024 film 'The Last Showgirl.' 'And he also suffered an unimaginable loss so young, and has had a really hard go of it,' Curtis added of Neeson, 73, who became a widower in 2009 after his wife Natasha Richardson died in a ski accident. 'So if, in fact, these people have hard launched, then wish them the best and leave them alone,' Curtis concluded. Neeson and Anderson struck up chemistry while filming 'The Naked Gun' reboot. 'It's a budding romance in the early stages,' a source told People last week. 'It's sincere, and it's clear they're smitten with each other.' While Neeson and Anderson haven't outright confirmed they're dating, they have gushed over each other during the film's press tour. 'I think I have a friend forever in Liam. And we definitely have a connection that is very sincere, very loving and he's a good guy,' Anderson told Entertainment Weekly earlier this month. Neeson told People in October that he was 'madly in love' with Anderson. 'I can't compliment her enough, I'll be honest with you,' the 'Taken' actor said. 'No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She's funny and so easy to work with.' The stars have also packed on the PDA in recent weeks. Anderson planted a kiss on Neeson's cheek at the London premiere of 'The Naked Gun' last month, and then they pretended to make out during an appearance on 'Today' later in July. Neeson was previously married to Richardson from 1994 until her death in 2009. They welcomed two sons together, Micheál, 30, and Daniel, 28, the latter of whom showed approval of his dad's new romance on a recent episode of 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.' Anderson, for her part, has had five marriages with four different men, including Mötley Crüe rocker Tommy Lee, who is the father of her sons Brandon Thomas Lee, 29, and Dylan Jagger Lee, 27. Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis cop backlash for seemingly snubbing fans at Sydney premiere

Westfield Bondi Junction rolled out the purple carpet for the Australian premiere of the highly anticipated Freaky Friday sequel, Freakier Friday. Stars of the film, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, attended the glitzy affair at Event Cinemas on Tuesday night to promote the new film, which comes 22 years after the original. However, some fans who lined up for hours were left disappointed after the Hollywood duo skipped the fan area altogether, walking straight past it and straight onto the stage, which was closed off to select guests lucky enough to secure tickets to the screening. After judging a fashion show on stage modelled by influencers such as Tammy Hembrow, Curtis and Lee made their way back down the red carpet and up the escalators, with their diehard fans barely catching a glimpse. 'Waited hours only for them not to come say hi,' one fan wrote on TikTok as they shared a video of Curtis and Lohan seemingly snubbing the fans lined up against the barricades. 'I just wanted to see Lindsay. Westfield staff were like let's give the fans who waited 6-10hrs a free $10 food voucher for today only but also all the stores are closed bc it's 7:30pm.' There is footage on social media of other fans crying after the supposed snub, while others also vented their frustrations from outside the cinema. 'I've been going to red carpet premieres for over 20 years now, mostly in Sydney Australia, and these people like me have been here since 10am in the morning – people have come before me as well,' one fan shared in a TikTok video. 'This is officially the fan section and we were all expected to, hopefully, get a photo with them, hopefully get an autograph but they didn't come out.' 'For whatever reason, they didn't bring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis out to us. So we've been here for all these hours. For me personally from 10am, and I've got nothing.' However, as the event continued upstairs, Curtis and Lohan were more than gracious as they did numerous red carpet interviews before venturing into two packed cinemas to greet the audience seated inside, thanking them for their support. 'Thank you for having us here. This movie is a labour of love for the both of us, and we're just so thrilled that we're ending our press tour here because Australia is a beautiful place,' Lohan told the audience. 'It's the first time my son's here and I'm just so happy to be back here. It's my second time back here with Jamie now.' 'I've been here many times,' Curtis chimed in. 'As you know, you're a bit of a destination resort for us, and it tells me how important this country is to the success of movies. Disney – thank you – made a big, big effort and a big point to say, 'We need to go to Australia.'' 'You know, it's kind of a long flight, but we wanted to come and support the movie here because we understand how important you guys are to it and to its success,' she concluded. Also at the event was US supermodel Tyra Banks, who wanted to support her longtime friend Lohan. The duo starred in the comedy Life-size back in 2000 and have remained each other's biggest cheerleaders ever since. Banks has been living in Sydney since 2023 and has since opened her first flagship ice-cream store Smize & Dream in Darling Harbour.

George Clooney hails Adam Sandler as a ‘beautiful, wonderful actor'

George Clooney has hailed Adam Sandler as a 'beautiful, wonderful actor'. The former ER actor, 63, made the declaration as he spoke to People about working with comic Adam, 58, on their upcoming film Jay Kelly, directed by Noah Baumbach. George gushed: 'I kept telling the cast, 'Don't call him Sand Man. Don't talk to him like he's just some goofy comedian. He's actually a really beautiful, wonderful actor.'' Even though George and Adam have been friends for years, Jay Kelly marks their first time they have acted together – an experience both say deepened their mutual respect and friendship. The comedy-drama sees George star as Jay Kelly, a famous actor who embarks on a whirlwind and unexpectedly profound journey alongside his long-time friend and manager, Ron, played by Adam. According to the film's synopsis, the two men confront questions about their choices, relationships and legacies – a premise that resonated with Adam immediately after hearing it from Baumbach. 'The sell was clear,' Adam said in a joint interview with George for People. He added: 'My character loves George's character so much, and I thought that would be fun to do and easy to do with George. And as a guy who's an actor who'd live a similar life to Jay Kelly, it's a crazy depiction – how accurate a lot of it is.' The friendship between George and Adam extended well beyond the script. Adam said: 'He invited my family everywhere, every place in Italy and England. 'Our trailers were next to each other. His friends and my friends all hung out, shot hoops, threw the baseball around, talked about other movies we like, other comedians that have made us laugh, his upbringing, my upbringing.' Though widely known for his comedic work, Adam added the tone of Jay Kelly proved more intense at times. He said: 'It was heavy.' George also praised Sandler's ability to shift into deeper emotional territory, comparing his performance to that in Uncut Gems, the 2019 thriller directed by Josh and Benny Safdie. He said: 'Because of what his paycheck is, which is doing big goofy comedies, when he does these other, beautiful, Uncut Gems kinds of movies, it reminds people of that. 'He's not just a good comedian.' Jay Kelly will open in select cinemas on 14 November before arriving on Netflix on 5 December.
