UP govt clarifies no plans to close schools amid concerns over dropouts and mergers
Patel claimed that 88 lakh children had dropped out of school due to poor educational standards, and raised concern over the recent merger of some schools.

According to Singh, primary schools in the state have 10,493,389 enrolled students, with 417,886 approved teaching positions, of which 338,590 are currently filled.
Upper primary schools have 4,314,803 students, with 162,198 sanctioned teaching posts, and 120,860 teachers in service, the minister said.

Over 13 lakh houses sanctioned for poor in last three years: Uttar Pradesh minister
LUCKNOW : More than 13 lakh houses have been sanctioned over the last three years for the poor, underprivileged, and destitute in Uttar Pradesh , Rural Development Minister Vijay Laxmi Gautam informed the state Assembly on Tuesday. She was replying to a question by Samajwadi Party member Arman Khan during Question Hour on the second day of the Monsoon Session. Gautam said that between 2022-23 and 2024-25, 10,44,876 houses were sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana , while 2,62,594 houses were approved under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana . She said that a survey is underway and has covered 57.73 lakh people so far. The process of allotting houses will begin soon, she added.

No arrest yet in Fatehpur mausoleum case; locals barred from talking to outsiders

On Tuesday, police booked more than 150 people, 10 of them named, for damaging public property and disturbing the peace. The 10 named in the FIR are Dharmendra Singh (Bajrang Dal), Abhishek Shukla (BJP), Ajay Singh (district panchayat member), Devnath Dhakad (BJP), Vinay Tiwari (municipal councillor), Pushpraj Patel, Rithik Pal (BJP), Prasoon Tiwari (BJP), Ashish Trivedi, and Pappu Chauhan (Samajwadi Party). An officer said searches are on to locate those named in the FIR and the 150 unidentified. Police, however, arrested the Congress's city president, Arif alias Gudda, along with his several supporters, for holding a protest, demanding the arrest of the vandals.
