Stray dog menace: Meghalaya HC satisfied with govt steps
Submitting their report before a bench of Chief Justice IP Mukerji and Justice W Diengdoh, the govt detailed their steps, which included setting up of awareness camps, drives to vaccinate stray dogs against rabies, sterilisation and castration, and providing shelters to segregate the dogs from people.
The court also took note that the committees, under rule 4 of the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules, 2001, had been constituted for South Garo Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district to implement the rules. The committees for the other 10 districts were formed earlier, which had been submitted by the additional advocate general T Yangi B before the court during the previous hearing of the petition last month.
The petitioner, through the petition filed last year, sought the court to pass orders, directing the state to take appropriate measures to control the menace caused by stray dogs. The next hearing for the case will be held on Aug 28.

CM Yogi blames Cong for Partition, lauds PM for push to heal ‘old wounds'

Dharmasthala burials case: It's an international conspiracy, says BJP
Bengaluru: Opposition BJP Thursday claimed the investigation into alleged mass murders in Dharmasthala was part of another attempt to defame and demean Hindu religious institutions and alleged a network of "urban Naxals and foreign nationals" was behind the conspiracy. During a half-hour debate in the assembly on the case, BJP members said vested interests were attempting to hurt Hindu sentiments.
