Design911, the long-established leader in specialist Porsche parts, components, and Porsche performance upgrades, shared its experiences at the famous Goodwood Revival event 2024 via its YouTube channel, which has amassed thousands of subscribers and interactions.
Anthony Malone, Head of Sales Strategies for the Design911 team, hosts the insider look at the festival, a true Porsche enthusiast with a lifelong link to Design911, having originally been introduced to the business as a teenager during a work experience placement.
The Excitement and Buzz of Goodwood Revival for Porsche Professionals and Enthusiasts
Goodwood Revival is a unique highlight in the motor racing calendar. It is a celebration of vintage automotive innovation, modern-day engineering, collectable cars, and classic components, with an eclectic blend of exhibitors, sponsors, performances, and, of course, motorsport.
The draw for Porsche drivers and professionals is all about the speed and nostalgia of the track, hosted at what many consider the spiritual home of motor racing in the UK. The first Revival was held in 1998 on a track that had been opened 50 years earlier.
Today, Goodwood is one of the most celebrated events, attracting enthusiasts, collectors, restorers, and drivers from around the world. It is attended by iconic and modern racing champions, including the much heralded drivers of the day who raced on the Goodwood Motor Circuit between 1948 and 1966.
Defined by its classic dress code and with a ban on modern cars on the track, Goodwood is firmly focused on celebrating the tradition of motor racing. However, it also welcomes countless younger audiences who are passionate about future innovation and who love nothing more than immersing themselves in the heritage and history of this legendary track.
Highlights of the Goodwood Revival Festival 2024 and 2025
For most attendees, Goodwood's festival spirit sets it apart. The classic, vintage theme runs throughout, from the banners and flags to the cars themselves. Numerous parades are held around the track, including a celebration of the 60th anniversary of Meyers Max and the 75th anniversary of the Jaguar XK engine in 2024.
Those more interested in off-track action and entertainment can enter a best-dressed competition, enjoy a huge range of dining options, with bars, restaurants, and specialist eateries dotting the grounds, browse the Revival Car Show, with a diverse selection of pre-1966 cars, or sit back and soak in the spectacle of the displays, including the 100 military vehicles that attended in 2024 to mark the anniversary of the D-Day landings.
Amid this packed itinerary, Design911 is a regular attendee, providing clients, guests, and those with an interest in Porsche with the opportunity to chat with the specialists, share their enthusiasm, and perhaps gain some advice and guidance about vintage Porsche restoration and maintenance projects.
Due to attend the 2025 event, which is scheduled from Friday, September 12th, to Sunday, September 14th, the team will be at the heart of the action. There will be a Sunday lunchtime street party to commemorate the VE Day anniversary, 15 races over the course of the weekend, and the classic car auction for those keen to add to their collections.
Design911's Guided Tour of Goodwood Revival
Anthony Malone, Head of Sales Strategies at Design911 said, ' Curating a snapshot of Goodwood was a brilliant way to showcase the energy and atmosphere of the festival, and why it's such a great opportunity for Porsche fans of all ages to come together at an event that is full of stories, performances and some breath-taking circuits of the track.
It's always a staple in the calendar here at Design911, and we got to touch base with some of the amazing brands we partner with and stock, including Motul UK, PowerLite and Rennsport, companies at the top of their fields in creating engine oils and lubricants, starter motors and alternators, and Porsche 911 Restomods.
During the day, we popped in to see Rennsport's 150thcar, the new STR, and captured a glimpse of their latest creation on camera for anyone who would love to have a quick look at what a handcrafted Porsche 911 looks like up close.
All in all, Goodwood Revival 2024 was a brilliant event, the rain notwithstanding, and we're pleased to have uploaded our short highlights video to our ever-busy YouTube channel to give you a flavour of what to expect if you're planning on attending this year.'

AI can make us UK's biggest firm, Rolls-Royce says
Rolls-Royce's plan to power artificial intelligence (AI) with its nuclear reactors could make it the UK's most valuable company, its boss has said. The engineering firm has signed deals to provide small modular reactors (SMRs) to the UK and Czech governments to power AI-driven data centres. AI has boomed in popularity since 2022, but the technology use lots of energy, something which has raised practical and environmental concerns. Rolls-Royce chief executive Tufan Erginbilgic told the BBC it has the "potential" to become the UK's highest-valued company by overtaking the largest firms on the London Stock Exchange thanks to its SMR deals. "There is no private company in the world with the nuclear capability we have. If we are not market leader globally, we did something wrong," he said. Tufan Erginbilgic has overseen a ten-fold increase in Rolls-Royce's share price since taking over in January 2023. However, he has ruled out the idea of Rolls-Royce seeking to list its shares in New York as British chip designer Arm has done and the likes of Shell and AstraZeneca have considered in the search for higher valuations. This is despite the fact that 50% of its shareholders and customers are US-based. "It's not in our plan," said Mr Erginbilgic, a Turkish energy industry veteran. "I don't agree with the idea you can only perform in the US. That's not true and hopefully we have demonstrated that." AI investment Rolls-Royce already supplies the reactors that power dozens of nuclear submarines. Mr Erginbilgic said the company has a massive advantage in the future market of bringing that technology on land in the form of SMRs. SMRs are not only smaller but quicker to build than traditional nuclear plants, with costs likely to come down as units are rolled out. He estimates that the world will need 400 SMRs by 2050. At a cost of up to $3bn (£2.2bn) each, that's another trillion dollar-plus market he wants and expects Rolls-Royce to dominate. The company has signed a deal to develop six SMRs for the Czech Republic and is developing three for the UK. But it remains an unproven technology. Mr Erginbilgic conceded he could not currently point to a working SMR example but said he was confident in its future potential. There are also concerns about the demands on water supplies from the data centre and SMR cooling systems. In response, companies including Google, Microsoft and Meta have signed deals to take energy from SMRs in the US when they are available. Next generation aircraft Rolls-Royce sees SMRs as key to its future, but its biggest business is aircraft engines. Already dominant in supplying engines to wide-bodied aircraft like Boeing 787 and Airbus A350, it plans to break into the next generation of narrow-bodied aircraft like the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. This market is worth $1.6tn - nine times that of the wide-bodied . Rolls-Royce is a bit player in a market that has powerful and successful leaders, and that rival Pratt and Witney lost $8bn trying and failing to break into. The market is dominated by CFM International – a joint venture between US-based GE Aerospace and French company Safran Aerospace Engines. Industry veterans told the BBC that market leaders can and will drop prices to airline customers long enough to see off a new assault on their market dominance. But Mr Erginbilgic said this is not just the biggest business opportunity for Rolls-Royce. Rather, it is "for industrial strategy... the single biggest opportunity for the UK for economic growth". "No other UK opportunity, I challenge, will match that," he said. Share price up ten-fold Although Rolls-Royce sold its car making business to BMW nearly 30 years ago, the name of the company is still synonymous with British engineering excellence. But in the early part of this decade that shine had worn off. The company was heavily indebted, its profit margins were non-existent, and thousands of staff were being laid off. When Mr Erginbilgic took over in January 2023, he likened the company to "a burning platform". "Our cost of capital was 12%, our return was 4% so every time we invested we destroyed value," he said. Two and a half years later, the company expects to make a profit of over £3bn, its debt levels have fallen and shares have risen over 1,000% - a ten-fold rise. So how did that happen? And is Mr Erginbilgic right to think that Rolls-Royce's roll is only just starting? 'Grudging respect' The timing of his appointment was fortunate according to some industry veterans. Rolls-Royce's biggest business – supplying engines to commercial airlines – has rebounded strongly from the Covid pandemic. The company's most successful product – the Trent series of aircraft engines – are at the sweet spot of profitability as the returns on investment in their development over a decade ago begin to pour into company coffers. Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 arguably made it almost inevitable that its defence business would see higher spending from European governments – which has been confirmed by recent announcements. Unions have not always been fans of Mr Erginbilgic's hard-charging approach. In October 2023, one of his first major move was cutting jobs, which drew criticism from Sharon Graham, the boss of the Unite union. "This announcement appears to be about appeasing the markets and its shareholders while ignoring its workers," she said at the time. However, overall global headcount has grown from 43,000 to 45,000 since 2023 and union sources say there is "grudging respect" for Mr Erginbilgic. Those sources give him one third of the credit for the turnaround around in the company's fortunes, with a third credited to market conditions and a third to his predecessor Warren East for "steadying the ship". So does Mr Erginbilgic really believe that Rolls-Royce can be the UK's most valuable company – overtaking the likes of AstraZeneca, HSBC, and Shell? "We are now number five in the FTSE. I believe the growth potential we created in the company right now, in our existing business and our new businesses, actually yes – we have that potential." Rolls-Royce is undoubtedly a company with the wind at its back – and Tufan Ergenbilgic certainly believes he has set the sails just right. Drivers caught behind wheel of unroadworthy vehicles up 52% in a year
The number of motorists caught driving unroadworthy vehicles jumped by 52% last year, new figures show, sparking fears that law-abiding road users are being put at 'serious risk'. A total of 13,109 British drivers were convicted of the offence in 2024, official data obtained by the RAC revealed. This is up from 8,614 during the previous 12 months. The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency statistics, released in response to a freedom of information request, show the number of penalty point endorsements issued for driving vehicles with defective brakes, tyres, steering or other problems. The offence attracts three penalty points which stay on drivers' licences for four years. As the figures only reflect those caught, the RAC believes they represent the 'tip of the iceberg' when it comes to the number of unroadworthy vehicles being used. RAC mobile servicing and repairs team leader Nick Mullender said: 'The steep increase in drivers receiving points on their licences for unroadworthy vehicles is a cause for alarm, as it could indicate more drivers are running the gauntlet and driving unsafe vehicles – although it's also possible more drivers are being caught by the police. 'Whether it's brakes, tyres, steering or something else, every mechanical component in a vehicle plays a critical role in ensuring it can be driven safely and confidently. 'By getting behind the wheel of vehicles that are defective, a minority of drivers are needlessly putting the law-abiding majority at serious risk. 'For every person caught there will doubtless be more who are knowingly in charge of unroadworthy vehicles that could be involved in completely avoidable collisions in the future. 'We strongly urge drivers to keep on top of routine maintenance and get any issues checked by a well-qualified mobile mechanic or reputable garage.' Chief Superintendent Marc Clothier, part of the portfolio for roads policing at the National Police Chiefs' Council, said: 'These figures are shocking. 'If you are driving an unroadworthy vehicle with defects such as tyres or brakes, you are not only putting yourself at risk but you are putting the lives of other road users at risk too. 'Ensuring your vehicle is roadworthy and safe to drive is your responsibility and we would encourage everyone to routinely check their vehicle before getting behind the wheel.'

Vontier (VNT) Stock Trades Up, Here Is Why
What Happened? Shares of electronic equipment provider Vontier (NYSE:VNT) jumped 3.3% in the afternoon session after its subsidiary Teletrac Navman announced it is deploying next-generation AI-enabled Smart Dashcams to boost safety for the Canal & River Trust's fleet. The deployment of these AI-enabled Smart Dashcams is for the Canal & River Trust, a charity responsible for managing waterways in England and Wales. This initiative is designed to enhance safety and driver wellbeing through investments in new technology. The news builds on recent positive momentum for the company, which reported strong second-quarter results in late July, beating analyst estimates and raising its full-year earnings guidance. This solid performance prompted several analysts to upgrade the stock or raise their price targets in early August, contributing to a consensus "Moderate Buy" rating from Wall Street, signaling growing confidence in Vontier's business trajectory. After the initial pop the shares cooled down to $41.82, up 3.6% from previous close. Is now the time to buy Vontier? Access our full analysis report here, it's free. What Is The Market Telling Us Vontier's shares are not very volatile and have only had 5 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today's move indicates the market considers this news meaningful, although it might not be something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business. Vontier is up 16% since the beginning of the year, and at $41.82 per share, has set a new 52-week high. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Vontier's shares at the IPO in September 2020 would now be looking at an investment worth $1,230.
