25 arrested in Hisar on rioting, looting charges
'Five separate FIRs at the City and Civil Lines police stations against 61 accused persons. Of them, 25 were arrested on Thursday. A local court in Hisar granted a two-day police remand to three of the accused — Sanjay Chauhan, Sonu, and Balbir,' said a senior police official.
In one FIR, Sapra Hospital's ICU in-charge, Pankaj Kumar, said that he was on duty on July 30 when, around 3 pm, a 23-year-old woman who had been admitted for poisoning died. Following her death, Sanjay Chauhan, accompanied by 50–60 people including women, allegedly pelted stones at the hospital, causing panic and chaos.
In another complaint, assistant sub-inspector Naveen Kumar said he and head constable Subash were at the hospital after the woman's body had been sent for post-mortem. Around 5 pm, Sanjay Chauhan allegedly instigated the woman's family and others against the police. A mob of 70–80 people reportedly pelted stones on Naveen's car, stole his laptop and official documents, and assaulted him when he tried to intervene.
Based on his complaint, police booked 49 individuals under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 115, 121(1), 126, 132, 190, 191(2), 191(3), 221, 310(2), 324(6), 352, 353(1), and 353(2).
A second FIR names 35 accused under BNS sections 118(1), 352, 353(1), 353(2), 324(6), 191(3), 190, and sections 3(1) and 3(2) of the Haryana Medicare Service Persons and Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act. Police have made 25 arrests in this case.
In a third FIR, Sanjay Chauhan and 30 others were booked for allegedly stopping an ambulance carrying the body of 29-year-old Honey to Maharaja Agrasen Medical College in Agroha for a post-mortem. The mob reportedly snatched the ambulance key, blocked the road, and obstructed police officials.
The cases remain under investigation.

In a social media post, Sai said that the case appears to be one of human trafficking. 'Three daughters of Narayanpur were promised nursing training and jobs. A person from Narayanpur handed them over to two nuns at Durg station, who were taking them to Agra,' he added further.

Delhi HC upholds conviction of three Delhi Police personnel in 2013 sexual harassment case
New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) The Delhi High Court has upheld the conviction of three Delhi Police personnel in a 2013 sexual harassment case including a woman and her minor niece, directing the convicts to surrender before the trial court within five days. The Court ruled that no leniency will be granted given the nature of the offence and the fact that the convicts were law enforcement officers who violated the very law they were meant to uphold. The three convicts, Jaidev, Jagmal, and Suraj Bhan alias Monu were found guilty under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The Court noted that the incident occurred in May 2013 and involved repeated misconduct by the convicts, who were also neighbours of the complainant. The High Court observed that the convicts, despite being public servants, had persistently engaged in inappropriate behaviour, including making vulgar gestures, sexually explicit remarks, and, in one instance, indecent exposure in the presence of the complainant and her niece. The Court rejected claims for leniency based on the age, health conditions, or family responsibilities, citing the seriousness of the offences and their prolonged nature. The judgment showcased that the case did not merit a rehabilitative approach due to the aggravating circumstances, including the convicts' positions in the police force and the repeated nature of the acts. The Court further noted that other FIRs had been registered by the complainant in subsequent years, indicating ongoing harassment and misconduct. Citing Supreme Court precedents, the High Court highlighted that sentencing must be proportionate to the gravity of the crime and serve as a deterrent, especially when the perpetrators hold positions of authority. The Court concluded that a punitive approach was necessary to restore public confidence in the justice system. Tractor driver dies while unloading cement blocks in Udupi; police register case
UDUPI: A tractor driver from Udupi died in a accident while unloading cement blocks on Friday The deceased is Sangappa Kirasur, 54. In a complaint, his son Maruti Kirasur stated that his father was employed by Mandavi Builders and was operating a tractor-trolley to transport cement blocks from the Manipal Industrial Area to various construction sites of the said builders in the Udupi-Manipal region. As usual, on August 1, Sangappa left for work, loaded the vehicle with cement blocks at the Manipal Industrial Area, and drove the tractor. Around 4 pm, while reversing the tractor down the ramp into the basement parking area of a building near the Moodanidambur service bus stand in Udupi taluk, the front of the tractor lifted off the ground. In the process, Sangappa slipped and fell between the tractor and trolley, suffering a severe head injury. Ganesh, the supervisor at the building, informed the complainant that Sangappa was immediately rushed to Adarsha Hospital for treatment. However, upon reaching the hospital, doctors informed the complainant that Sangappa died on the way. According to the complaint, the accident was caused due to Sangappa's negligence, as he operated the tractor-trolley in reverse without following proper safety and precautionary measures. Based on the complaint, Udupi Town Police have registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
