Noche UFC heads to Mexico for first time as UFC 320 set for Guadalajara
Noche UFC is back – and it's headed to Mexico.
The celebratory Mexican Independence Day pay-per-view comes this year in the form of UFC 320. The event will take place Sept. 13 at Arena Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico, the promotion announced during Saturday's UFC on ESPN 64 broadcast.
UFC 320 marks the third annual Noche UFC event. The previous two took place in Las Vegas. UFC Fight Night 227 was the inaugural Noche event in 2023. It took place at T-Mobile Arena and was headlined by Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Shevchenko 2.
In 2024, the promotion took Noche UFC to another level. In what remains the only combat sports event held at Sphere in Las Vegas, the promotion put together UFC 306, an all-time spectacle that was headlined by Sean O'Malley vs. Merab Dvalishvili.
No fights were announced on the broadcast for UFC 320. The promotion only has announced fights officially through the end of May.

UFC Cuts Ties With Hakeem Dawodu In Latest Roster Sweep
There are three things that will lead to a release in the UFC: losing, consistently missing weight, and inactivity. Hakeem Dawodu had a touch of all three issues over the last few years, and that's likely why Dana White and the UFC chose to part ways with the veteran. The 33-year-old hasn't fought since he lost a unanimous decision to Cub Swanson in August 2023. The loss to Swanson was his third in four fights. Dawodu missed weight by 3.5 pounds in September 2022 ahead of his unanimous decision loss to Julian Erosa. Between the losses to Swanson and Erosa, Dawodu withdrew from a scheduled fight with Lucas Almeida in June 2023. Overall, it hasn't been an especially strong last few years, and despite Dawodu's talent and relative youth, the promotion elected to remove him from the roster. Dawodu's best years as a mixed martial artist took place when he was a part of the World Series of Fighting promotion. From 2014–2017, Dawodu compiled a record of 7-0-1 with WSOF. That run and the folding of WSOF led Dawodu and others like Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson, Marlon Moraes, and Justin Gaethje to sign with the UFC. Dawodu didn't have immediate success with the UFC. In fact, he lost his first fight with the promotion via submission, and it took just 39 seconds for Danny Henry to submit him. However, Dawodu bounced back and won his next five fights in the UFC. Dawodu wouldn't take another loss until he dropped a unanimous decision in June 2021. In February 2022, Dawodu rebounded with a win over Michael Trizano for what will likely be his last victory with the promotion. In addition to Dawodu's lack of activity and recent victories, he also rarely won fights by stoppage. His lone stoppage win in the UFC was a head-kick KO of Yoshinori Horie in July 2019. From the looks of Dawodu's Instagram account, he appears to be training, but it is unclear if he is still interested in competing. As it is, Dawodu, Kron Gracie and Connor Matthews were separated from the promotion. Looking ahead to Saturday, UFC 316 takes place in Inglewood, California at the Intuit Dome. UFC Cuts Ties With Royce Gracie's Nephew, Kron Gracie
Let's face it. It's tough being the grand son of a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu pioneer and the nephew of a UFC legend. Those are tough shoes to fill if you're attempting to establish a career in combat sports. Kron Gracie has found that out firsthand. On Thursday, per Full Contact MTWF on X, Gracie was one of three fighters removed from the UFC's active roster. Quite honestly, the move from Dana White and Co. should come as no surprise. The 36-year-old whose grandfather is Hélio Gracie and whose uncle is Royce Gracie trains with Nate and Nick Diaz had an esteemed run as a BJJ practitioner, but his MMA career–at least in the UFC–has been less than stellar. Gracie's release comes on the heels of his third straight loss in the Octagon. The last defeat was a brutal TKO stoppage at the hands of Bryce Mitchell in December 2024 at UFC 310. Gracie hadn't just lost three fights in a row in the UFC, he's also been inactive. He fought once in December 2024. Before that, he fought in May 2023, and prior to that fight he was last in the Octagon in October 2019 when he lost a Fight-of-the-Night performance against Cub Swanson. Gracie's lone win in the UFC's Octagon in four fights came in his promotional debut. In February 2019, Gracie scored a first-round submission victory over Alex Caceres. At the time, it appeared the UFC could potentially have a contender on their hands in the featherweight division. Unfortunately, he fought just three times over the next five years and never won another fight with the promotion. While he hasn't announced his retirement from MMA, Gracie is on the wrong side of 35, and he has a modest 5-3 record in the sport. There's no doubt he can likely compete in BJJ tournaments and even train fighters in the martial art his family made a mainstream system in combat sports. But his chances of becoming a legitimate contender for a title on a higher level of MMA are done. The other two fighters the UFC separated from on Thursday were Hakeem Dawodu and Connor Matthews. UFC 316 takes place on Sunday with Merab Dvalishvili defending his title against Sean O'Malley in a rematch of their first battle in September 2024. Here is a look at the complete card.
