Strictly Come Dancing confirm 12th contestant who may have an edge on competition

Fans are ecstatic about hearing the official line-up for the upcoming series of Strictly. Strictly Come Dancing has confirmed its 12th contestant for the 2025 series, who may have an edge on the competition due to one lucky aspect of his personal life. Neighbours star Stefan Dennis, who is best known for his role as Paul Robinson on the Australian soap, was revealed as the latest star on This Morning on Thursday (August 14)- and his wife is a professional dancer. ‌ Stefan expressed his anticipation for the show, saying to presenters Emma Willis and Craig Doyle: "I'm [feeling] pretty good. I'm very excited to be doing something that's completely and utterly out of my comfort zone. But also because of that, quite a bit petrified." ‌ The 66-year-old went on to admit that he's not naturally gifted in the dance department, but his wife, Gail, a professional dancer, has been trying to help him get into the groove ahead of the series. ‌ "It's so ironic because my gorgeous wife, wherever she is, somewhere out there, Gail, is a professional dancer," he said, reports the Daily Star. "She's been trying to teach me in the most frustrating way for her for sure, because I just keep burying my head in the sand, going, 'This is not happening.'" He added: "She's been giving me some good tips, but that doesn't mean I'm any good." In a statement about joining the BBC dance competition, Stefan said: "This is an opportunity for me to once again learn to step out of my comfort zone in the world of television. Looking forward to the sparkle and reaching for the sky." Stefan first graced our screens on Neighbours in 1985 and has since appeared in over 6,000 episodes during the show's 40-year run. ‌ Before his stint on the beloved soap, Stefan had a lengthy career in Australian television, with roles in shows such as Prisoner, The Henderson Kids, The Sullivans, Young Doctors and Sons and Daughters, among others. He has also made appearances in UK shows like The Bill, Dream Team, River City and Casualty, and starred in the West End musical Blood Brothers. This news follows the announcement that Vicky Pattison will be the 11th celebrity to join the line-up, as revealed earlier on This Morning. ‌ The TV presenter, author, podcast and radio host won the hearts of the nation when she was crowned Queen of the Jungle on I'm A Celebrity in 2015. On her participation in Strictly, Vicky expressed: "'I'm absolutely buzzing to be part of this year's Strictly Come Dancing line up... but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't terrified. "I am a not a natural dancer! However, it's such an amazing opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone and to challenge myself in a completely new way and I just really hope I don't make too much of a fool of myself!"

BBC hit by complaints over EastEnders' ‘inappropriate sex scene'

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) ONE scene in a recent episode of EastEnders ruffled some viewers' feathers and they rushed to BBC to complain. In June, EastEnders showed how the loveable Alfie Moon continued to struggle with erectile dysfunction — a common side effect for men such as him who have had treatment for prostate cancer. 5 EastEnders viewers complained about a scene in an episode from June Credit: BBC 5 They complained to the BBC about Kat trying to seduce her husband, Alfie Credit: BBC 5 But the BBC decided the scene did not violate any standards Credit: BBC The episode in question showed Alfie rebuff his wife Kat Slater's advances after she shows up wearing sexy lingerie and attempts to seduce him, unaware of his erectile dysfunction. When Alfie rejects her advances, Kat becomes upset after worrying about their sex life. And to make matters worse, she finds porn on a laptop at home and presumes it belonged to her husband. Kat did not know that, in fact, that it was their son, Tommy, who had been the one watching porn. Despite getting rave reviews for the educational story line about Alfie's prostate cancer, some people were not happy with the scene and complained to the Beeb. The BBC published its latest list of complaints and it showed a grievance for "inappropriate sexual content" during the June 10 episode. The public broadcaster reviewed the complaint and decided it was "not upheld," and the content was not inappropriate. Alfie actor, Shane Richie, opened up to The Sun about the positive impact his prostate cancer storyline had on people. Shane, 61, has played Alfie Moon on EastEnders for over two decades after he first joined the BBC One soap in 2002. One in eight men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime, according to Prostate UK, who along with Macmillan Cancer Support, worked with Shane and the EastEnders writing team on the storyline. Shane said in June: 'I was going to events, men my age were coming up to me, but mostly women, wives saying 'thank you so much for covering that storyline, because my husband, my brother... they don't want to go to the doctors.' 'One guy in particular, and I don't personally take credit for saving his life, but that storyline did. EastEnders' Shane Richie reveals new trauma for Alfie Moon amid prostate cancer storyline 'He got checked. His daughter was a big EastEnders fan, and just quite casually said, come on, we love Alfie, you should go and get checked and he did just to appease his daughter. One in eight men will get prostate cancer The risk of developing prostate cancer depends on many factors, here are some of the facts about the disease and how many men it affects. One in eight men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime It is the fourth most common cancer worldwide, and the most common in men There are 55,000 new cases every year in the UK, and 1.4million globally Around 12,000 people lose their lives to prostate cancer annually in the UK and almost 400,000 around the world Prostate cancer accounts for 28 per cent of all new cancer cases in men in the UK, and 14 per cent of all new cancer cases in men and women combined Prostate cancer survival has tripled in the last 50 years in the UK More than three-quarters (78 per cent) of patients survive for 10 or more years About 490,000 men are living with and after prostate cancer in the UK It is most common in men aged 75 to 79 Since the early 1990s, cases have increased by 53 per cent in the UK Mortality rates are up 16 per cent since the early 1970s in the UK Incidence rates are projected to rise by 15 per cent in the UK between 2023 to 2025 and 2038 to 2040 Mortality rates are expected to fall five per cent in the UK over the same years Source: Prostate Cancer UK, World Cancer Research Fund International and Cancer Research UK 'He found out he had prostate cancer but it was at the early stages, had it left in any longer it could have been fatal. So if we just save one life, that's the power of soaps.' Shane took an extended break from Eastenders over the summer where he spent a month touring with best mates, Bradley Walsh, Brian Conley and Joe Pasquale. 5 Kat felt rejected by Alfie Credit: BBC

JD Vance's awkward moment after pub owned by Meghan Markle florist refuses to serve him

Workers at a pub in the Cotswolds threatened to walk out after they discovered that American Vice President JD Vance had hoped to dine there during his trip to the UK A pub in the Cotswolds was almost faced with chaos after dinner reservations were made for Vice President JD Vance, according to reports. It's claimed the US vice president was expected to attend a gastro-pub in the area, but had to swiftly change plans. ‌ Vance has been on a family holiday with his wife, Usha Chilukuri, 39, and their three children. His visit to the UK had sparked controversy after locals hit out at him for making their life "hell" due to the multiple car police convoys and buzzing helicopters. ‌ And now, it's been reported that one group of staff took matters into their own hands. It's thought Vance had reservations at the Bull Pub, which entertained former US Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris last week. It comes after Vogue Williams quits drinking after blacking out drunk at lavish showbiz wedding. ‌ But workers were reportedly unimpressed with a planned visit from the Vance clan and threatened to walk out if his reservation was honoured. Speaking to The Daily Mail, Richard Fairhurst, who runs the local Charlbury community blog, said: "It's very widely believed locally [that staff refused to serve Vance] but The Bull are keeping schtum.' The showbiz blog Popbitch also wrote: "The mutinous staff all said they wouldn't come to work if they had to serve Vance and his wife. Facing staff grumbles and a barrage of negative press attention, The Bull refused his patronage." But Vance's camp played down the alleged incident, with a source saying: "The Bull was included as a potential option for lunch, but the family ultimately decided not to go. There was never any indication from the Bull that he or his family were not welcome." ‌ The Bull is owned by florist, Willow Crossley. Her floral designs were featured at the 2018 wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. Vance's UK visit comes as his friendship with The Apprentice star Tom Skinner is also in the public eye of late. The reality TV star's upcoming Strictly Come Dancing appearance has fans of the BBC show outraged. While some of Tom's followers enjoyed his no-nonsense posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, his controversial opinions have also landed him in hot water at times. ‌ He recently confirmed he had enjoyed a BBQ with the US Vice President after he had shown support for convicted felon Donald Trump and the Republican Party. Vance and Skinner had previously interacted on social media before meeting "in the beautiful English countryside" where the VP is holidaying. After hanging out, Tom wrote on X: "Unreal night with JD and his friends and family. He was a proper gent. Lots of laughs and some fantastic food. A brilliant night, one to tell the grandkids about." He also posted a picture of himself posing with Vance after a "couple of beers". He said: "Here is a pic of Me and Vice President @JDVance towards the end of the night after a few beers. "I'm overdressed in my suit, but when the VP invites you to a BBQ, you don't risk turning up in shorts and flip-flops. Cracking night in the beautiful English countryside with JD, his friends and family. Once in a lifetime. Bosh."
