Where Alabama commit Jett Thomalla sits in 2025 Elite 11 Finals Day 1 rankings
This past Tuesday, the Alabama Crimson Tide landed a commitment from 2026 quarterback prospect Jett Thomalla, who flipped to the program from Iowa State.
A four-star prospect, Thomalla is one of the nation's top 2026 quarterbacks, and as a result, is one of the numerous names who is also out in Los Angeles, California this week participating in the 2025 Elite 11 Finals.
An event that Alabama is certainly familiar with as well, Thomalla is apparently impressing against some of the best high school quarterbacks in the country, as the Crimson Tide's newest commitment currently sits in the No. 9 spot in the official Elite 11 Finals Day 1 rankings.
A multi-day event lasting from June 17-19, Thomalla is looking to become the third consecutive Alabama commit to win Elite 11 MVP, joining Keelon Russell (2024) and Julian Sayin (2023). Sayin won the Elite 11 MVP while he was an Alabama commit, and later transferred to Ohio State.
Other Alabama commits to win Elite 11 MVP include Tua Tagovailoa (2016), Blake Barnett (2014), and Brodie Croyle (2000).

Mark Kaboly confident T.J. Watt, Steelers extension gets done based on past contracts

Mark Kaboly confident T.J. Watt, Steelers extension gets done based on past contracts Everyone has an opinion on the Steelers–T.J. Watt contract drama — and that includes Mark Kaboly, who's convinced a deal gets done. On Wednesday, Kaboly took to social media to argue why the Steelers are more likely than not to extend Watt long-term: 'Why do the Steelers feel like a T.J. Watt deal will happen? When the Steelers identify a player they WANT to keep, they keep. Off top of my head, the extensions that got done before the final year to significant players: Maurkice Pouncey, Ben Roethlisberger, Cam Heyward, Cam Heyward, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Diontae Johnson, Pat Freiermuth, Chris Boswell, Antonio Brown, Ramon Foster, Troy Polamalu, Hines Ward, and Heath Miller. Mike Wallace and Le'Veon Bell were outliers.' Kaboly hit the nail right on the head. While Watt is likely on the tail end of his career, he is the heart and soul of the Steelers defense — and it seems like it's only a matter of when, not if, the future Hall of Fame defender signs a new extension with Pittsburgh. 2026 5-star CB predicted to land with Texas A&M over Oregon

2026 5-star CB predicted to land with Texas A&M over Oregon Texas A&M is on the precipice of landing one of the top athletes in the 2026 recruiting class, as five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington is set to make his decision between Oregon and the Aggies on Thursday morning/afternoon. Texas A&M has been the frontrunner for quite some time, but things have gotten interesting over the past month. After official visits to USC, Alabama, and Oregon, Texas A&M defensive back coaches Ishmael Aristide and Jordan Peterson have worked overtime to sell the program's vision, feeling that Arrington is on the path to becoming a star cornerback over the next four years, and is a perfect fit in the SEC due to his versatility as a standout receiver on offense. On Tuesday, Arrington spoke to On3's Josh Newberg about his upcoming decision, noting that both coaching staffs have a plan in place focused on developing his star potential. However, according to On3 Oregon reporter Justin Hopkins, the Aggies are still the favorites to land Arrington's commitment on Thursday. Again, credit to Coach Mike Elko, Aristide, and Peterson for laying the groundwork early, which should pay off in less than 24 hours. Arrington showed off his skills in ten games during his 2024 junior season. Arrington recorded 26 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception while reeling in 57 receptions for 527 yards and five touchdowns on offense. According to On3, Arrington is currently the 9th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the No. 1-ranked athlete, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in California. Arrington will announce his commitment on July 5. Contact/Follow us @AggiesWire on X and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Texas A&M news, notes and opinions. 2026 4-star LB out of Carthage (TX) has announced his commitment date

Last weekend, Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and his staff hosted 15 elite prospects in the 2026 recruiting class. Over the past five days, the Aggies landed commitments from three-star athlete Kaeden Johnson, four-star offensive lineman Samuel Roseborough, and on Tuesday, four-star running back KJ Edwards chose the Aggies over Texas in one of the more shocking moves of the summer. All three prospects visited last weekend, resulting in commitments, so it's fair to say that Elko and his staff have built an impressive foundation that led to three of the program's early 2026 commits, led by four-star wide receiver Aaron Gregory, shutting down their recruitment over the last two weeks. Ahead of 2026 five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington's commitment on Thursday, one of the top linebacker prospects in the cycle, four-star DaQuives Beck, took his official visit to Texas A&M last weekend, and has announced his commitment date, which will take place on Tuesday, July 1. After receiving an early prediction to land with Texas A&M, it's also notable that Beck is teammates with KJ Edwards at Carthage High School, and will choose between Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and the Aggies. During his junior season at Carthage (TX) High School, Beck was named Defensive MVP of the Texas 4A D-II state championship, recording 10 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and one sack in an impressive performance. Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle According to 247Sports, Beck is currently positioned as the 159th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 9th-ranked linebacker, and the 23rd-ranked prospect in Texas.
