Italy, US, Germany..., what is this list in which Giorgia Meloni's country is on top? Where does India stand?
India is now the third-largest car market in the world leaving behind China and the United States. This milestone was reached in 2022 when India overtook Japan. Last year, about 4.2 million cars were sold in India. However, despite being such a big market, only around 6 per cent of Indian households actually own a car. In comparison, countries like Nigeria and China are ahead. In Nigeria, about 18 per cent of families have their own vehicle, while in China, it's around 17 per cent. China holds the title of the world's largest car market, followed by the US. Surprisingly, Italy tops the list when it comes to car ownership. According to a report by Pew Research Centre, nearly 89 per cent of Italian households own a car. Italy is home to several world-famous luxury car brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, and Fiat. After Italy, the US comes next with about 88 per cent of households owning a car. Germany, Europe's biggest economy, ranks third with 85 per cent of families having a car. Germany is also known worldwide for its top-quality carmakers such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Volkswagen. 🚙 Car usage (% of households that own a car): 🇮🇹 Italy: 89% 🇺🇸 USA: 88% 🇩🇪 Germany: 85% 🇫🇷 France: 83% 🇰🇷 South Korea: 83% 🇯🇵 Japan: 81% 🇪🇸 Spain: 79% 🇬🇷 Greece: 76% 🇬🇧 UK: 74% 🇮🇱 Israel: 71% 🇵🇱 Poland: 64% 🇷🇺 Russia: 55% 🇨🇱 Chile: 49% 🇧🇷 Brazil: 47% 🇦🇷 Argentina: 43% 🇹🇷… — World of Statistics (@stats_feed) June 3, 2025 What about Pakistan and Bangladesh? When it comes to car ownership, many countries are still ahead of India. France ranks fourth, with 83% of families owning a car. South Korea is also at 83 per cent, followed by Japan at 81 per cent. In Spain, 79 per cent of households have a car, while Greece has 76 per cent, the UK 74 per cent, Israel 71 per cent, Poland 64 per cent, and Russia 55 per cent. Even in Latin America, the numbers are higher than India. In Chile, 49 per cent of families own a car, in Brazil it's 47 per cent, Argentina 43 per cent, Turkey 42 per cent, and Mexico 35 per cent. South Africa stands at 31 per cent, Ukraine at 29 per cent, and Egypt at 20 per cent—all ahead of India's 6 per cent. Among India's neighbors, the situation is different. In Pakistan, only about 3% of households own a car, and in Bangladesh, the number is even lower—just 2 per cent.

Why Did Rohit Sharma Give Away His Rs 4 Crore Lamborghini Urus To A Fan?
Last Updated: Rohit Sharma's popular blue Lamborghini Urus has a new owner after the Mumbai Indians cricketer handed over his car keys to a cricket fan. Here's why. Why did Rohit Sharma give away his prized possession? A question that crossed the minds of many on social when the Indian cricketer handed over the keys of his very own blue Lamborghini Urus to a cricket fan. Yes, the same blue car Rohit Sharma has been spotted driving on the streets of Mumbai. The rare luxury car and its distinct colour have made fans stop in their tracks and approach the car, knowing fully well that it had Sharma aboard, no less driving it. Did Sharma get bored with his ride, or was he just too generous on the day? Urus is Lamborghini's first SUV in the modern times which was unveiled in 2017. The five-door Italian luxury SUV is available in two models – Performante and SE. The Performante variant produces a whopping 850Nm of torque, thanks to its 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. It can do a 0 to 100 in just 3.3 seconds. While the Urus SE carries the same V8 engine, its hybrid layout helps it achieve a combined 950 Nm of torque. These are not your regular day numbers even when it is under the ownership of Volkswagen group. The ex-showroom price starts from Rs 4.18 crore and can easily breach Rs 5 crore mark depending on which state in India you purchase it from. Promise Fortunately, this particular cricket fan did not have to shell out that humongous amount to acquire the rare, luxury vehicle belonging to the celebrated cricketer. As the IPL 2025 kicked off, Sharma was seen in fantasy cricket contest by Dream 11. In the advertisement, Sharma says: '22 March ko Dream 11 pe team banao, aur meri khudki gaadi jeetne ka mauka pao (Make your Dream 11 team on 22 March and stand a chance to win my very own car)." Stood with his shining car, the number plate read: MH 01 EB 0264. The number matched the car Sharma gave away to the lucky winner, further suggesting that it wasn't just a random parked Urus at a Lamborghini dealership but Rohit Sharma's very own Lambo. Rohit Sharma – 264 The car's number plate carries a special memory in Rohit Sharma's illustrious ODI career. It was 2014, during the fourth ODI being played between India and touring Sri Lanka when Sharma unleashed himself. Batting first, India posted a towering score of 404 for 5. 264 runs out of India's score were plundered by the Indian opener. Sharma struck 264 off just 173 deliveries. His explosive innings consisted of 33 boundaries and 9 maximums. Smacked at the iconic venue of Eden Gardens, the 11-year-old record set by Sharma is yet to be broken. Notably, this was his second double century in ODI, the previous one coming against Australia in Bengaluru where he plundered 209 off 158. Sharma also holds a unique feat in ODI history as the only batter to have scored three ODI double hundreds. His third double ton came against Sri Lanka in 2017 at Mohali. This time he remained unbeaten at 208* (153). Mumbai Indians Rise Coming back to the IPL, when it all looked done and dusted for Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful franchises of the cash-rich league, the Hardik Pandya led side made a stunning recovery. MI find themselves on the fourth spot on the points table of IPL 2025. While Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings have already made it to the Playoffs this year, Mumbai and Delhi Capitals will fight it out to grab a ticket to the next round.
