FIAT Launches Morocco-Made TRIS Electric Three-Wheeler for MEA Markets
Doha – FIAT Professional has unveiled its first-ever three-wheeled electric vehicle, the TRIS, manufactured in Morocco. The innovative vehicle aims to revolutionize last-mile delivery services across Africa and Middle East (MEA) markets with sustainable B2B micromobility solutions.
According to a press release by Stellantis on May 21, the fully electric TRIS offers a 90 km range and will be available in three configurations: chassis-cabin, flatbed, and pick-up. The vehicle was designed at Centro Stile in Italy and created as an affordable ultra-light commercial vehicle.
'TRIS is more than just a new vehicle—it's a breakthrough in how we think about urban mobility,' said Olivier Francois, FIAT CEO and Stellantis Global Chief Marketing Officer. 'With its debut in the Middle East and Africa, TRIS is set to transform last-mile mobility and open new doors to economic empowerment and social inclusion.'
The name 'TRIS' references the vehicle's three wheels, modular design, and signature three-light LED arrangement. Its simple pronunciation works across multiple languages for global appeal.
Samir Cherfan, Chief Operating Officer of Stellantis for the Middle East and Africa region, stressed the vehicle's importance for the region. 'As the MEA region's urban population grows by 3% annually, micromobility offers a scalable and sustainable solution to growing congestion and transport deficits,' he stated.
The TRIS features a compact size of just 3.17 meters in length with a tight 3.05-meter turning radius for navigating narrow city streets. It offers approximately 2.25 square meters of load space capable of accommodating a standard euro pallet. The vehicle has a Gross Vehicle Weight of 1,025 kg and a maximum payload capacity of 540 kg.
Powered by a 48-volt electric motor delivering 9 kW peak power and 45 Nm maximum torque, the TRIS reaches a top speed of 45 km/h. Its 6.9 kWh lithium battery provides a 90 km range, sufficient for daily professional use in urban and suburban settings.
Charging is designed to be user-friendly with an integrated smart charging system. The TRIS can be charged from 0 to 80% in 3.5 hours and fully recharged in 4 hours and 40 minutes using a standard domestic plug.
The vehicle is fitted with a 5.7-inch digital cluster displaying essential driving information, USB-C and 12V power sockets, and LED lighting with FIAT's new signature pixel design. It meets European homologation standards with three-point seat belts, front LED lighting, a reverse buzzer, and a washer tank.
FIAT Professional is positioning the TRIS as a flexible solution with leasing and lease-to-own options to empower entrepreneurs and economy workers. The vehicle is expected to serve a wide range of professional applications, from urban logistics to mobile businesses and essential transportation services. Morocco breaks avocado export records, surpassing 100,000 tons
In a season marked by increased volumes and shifting trade dynamics, Morocco has emerged as a rising power in the global avocado market, surpassing the 100,000-ton export mark for the first time, according to the platform EastFruit. Despite a price decline caused by global oversupply, mainly from Latin American countries, Moroccan producers celebrated a second consecutive year of record-breaking exports, supported by excellent fruit quality, notably in size, and stable climatic conditions. Facing a saturated European market and mounting price competition, Morocco's performance highlights the maturity of its national avocado sector and its growing influence in the international trade scene. Global avocado markets are undergoing significant changes as increased supplies from Peru and other Latin American countries exert downward pressure on prices in key markets. Despite strong demand, especially in Europe and North America, factors such as quality, logistics, and ease of market access have become critical in shaping trade flows and prices.

France Thanks Morocco Over Arrest of Man Behind Crypto-Related Kidnappings
Rabat – France thanked Morocco today, stressing the country's importance as a strategic ally in security following the arrest of a suspect behind a series of recent crypto-related kidnappings in France. French Minister of Justice Gerald Darmanin conveyed his country's gratitude in a statement on X, where he 'sincerely thanks Morocco for this arrest.' He said this 'demonstrates the excellent judicial cooperation between our two countries, particularly in the fight against organized crime.' Earlier today, a joint operation by national judicial police in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST) enabled security services to arrest a French-Moroccan national. A statement from the police indicated that the suspect is thought to be involved in crimes related to kidnapping with extortion, ransom demands targeting cryptocurrency users, as well as money laundering operations as part of an international crime network operating in France. The arrest took place in Tangier, falling within Moroccan security services' efforts to tackle insecurity. Police arrested the suspect after receiving a formal complaint from French security services detailing the alleged criminal acts the suspect committed in the European country. DGSN stressed in a statement today that the security operation is part of ongoing and intensive efforts by the national police to combat transnational organized crime and to deny criminals a safe haven or a legitimate operating base in Morocco. Many countries, including France, have highlighted Morocco's assistance on the security front. In April, French Interior Minister Bruno Retalleau described Morocco as a 'precious partner' in security matters. 'We are witnessing a renewed energy in our bilateral relationship, one that extends across multiple fields, including security,' Retailleau said during his visit to Morocco in April. He also pointed to joint cooperation between Moroccan and French authorities, including the arrest of several major drug traffickers wanted by French authorities.

Franco Mastantuono: The Argentine Wonderkid Pitching PSG against Real Madrid
River Plate's midfielder Franco Mastantuono has become one of South America's most closely watched prospects, drawing interest from European giants Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. Real Madrid's chief scout, Juni Calafat, travelled to Buenos Aires this week for discussions with River Plate executives and Mastantuono's entourage, with Los Blancos prepared to activate his $45 million release clause. Madrid's plan would allow the Argentine to remain at River Plate until the end of the year, as they did in 2023 with the Arda Güler transfer saga. The 17-year-old midfielder, who has scored 7 goals and 4 assists in 19 appearances this season, has also received his first call-up to the Argentina squad for World Cup qualifying fixtures in June. Meanwhile, reliable sports journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG is also pushing to secure Mastantuono's signature. PSG believes it can leverage its recent European success to convince the young midfielder who has expressed a preference for the French club. Mastantuono was born in Azul, Buenos Aires Province. He signed his first professional contract with River Plate in August 2023, which included a €45 million release clause. River Plate's youth manager Martín Pellegrino has praised Mastantuono's left-footed versatility: 'He can operate as a forward, an 'enganche' or a playmaker.' Assistant coach Pablo Fernández also said: 'His prowess in one-on-one situations and dead-ball scenarios. Mastantuono cites Julián Álvarez, Phil Foden, and Neymar as inspirations for his dynamic, free-flowing style.' As both Real Madrid and PSG seek his signature, Mastantuono seems destined to follow in the footsteps of Julian Alvarez, Diego Maradona, Carlos Tevez, and Sergio Agüero, potentially securing a high-profile move to Europe in January 2026.
