Katherine Heigl reveals Grey's Anatomy scene she'll never watch with her children

Independent29-03-2025
Katherine Heigl has revealed she has never watched Grey's Anatomy with her children as she's worried they'll ridicule her for some of the show's more bizarre scenes.
The actor, 46, who played Izzie Stevens from seasons one to six of the medical drama, has three children; daughters Naleigh, 15, Adalaide, 12, and a son Joshua, eight, who she shares with her husband Josh Kelley.
Despite Grey's Anatomy celebrating its 20th anniversary this week, Heigl admitted she still cringes at a ghostly sex scene she filmed with her co-star Jeffrey Dean Morgan in season five of the show.
'We have not watched Grey's. Partly because I was like, 'How do I explain that [to my children]?'' she told Entertainment Weekly the moment from the 2005 episode 'In the Midnight Hour'.
'I'm like, 'You can watch it, but I don't want to sit next to you. I will be so embarrassed,'' Hiegl said in reference to her eldest daughter.
'She will make me embarrassed. She will make fun of me,' the actor explained. 'It's better not to give her that ammunition. Do you know what I'm saying?'
Heigl said she saw the ghost sex scene, which saw her character consummate her relationship with Morgan's ghost as 'wish fulfillment' for Izzie and Denny to finally 'get to be together'.
The star added that filming the scenes was 'awkward' because of the concept that Izzie couldn't actually see Denny during the intimate moment.
'She could never acknowledge me,' Morgan said. 'I remember I was yelling at her while everybody else was giving her doctor information. And it was throwing everybody off.'
Heigel added: 'There's one particular scene that I will not watch with my children ever. I don't care how old they are. I don't care if they're 60, I'm not watching this with them.
'And it was a scene where you're in the room, but I'm trying to be like, 'You are not here, you're not here.' And Alex [Justin Chambers] and Izzie start messing around and he goes down on her. And you're just standing there. And I was just sort of at the time like, 'This is what the money's for, right?''
Morgan reflected: 'She's messing around with a dead guy. But it was fun. We did have fun. There was a lot of laughing, I'll tell you that.'

I was so stressed after my dream £6k honeymoon cruise was cancelled my face COLLAPSED & was left PARALYSED

A NEWLY-WED'S face collapsed from stress after her dream honeymoon was cancelled at the last minute. Gail Morgan, 50, suffered a Bell's Palsy attack, paralysing the muscles down one side of her face after the £6,000 cruise was postponed just prior to boarding - and then axed completely. 3 3 3 Gail and new husband Pepe Davies, 53, from Wales, had flown out to Miami following their glam wedding only to be told the liner had suffered a "technical issue". They say, subsequently, their treatment by operator Celebrity Cruises has been "disgusting" - and they've only received a third of the value back as vouchers. Gail told The Sun: 'I was inconsolable. I broke down in tears. 'The heartbreak of losing our honeymoon and my 50th birthday trip, a holiday we had looked forward to for years, was overwhelming. 'And still, not a single word of communication from Celebrity Cruises. 'I recently completed my masters in social care, and this was also meant to celebrate my achievement. 'But the very next day, my facial muscles on the right side of my face stiffened up. 'Since then, my face has been stiff. I'm still going through it.' Upon return to the UK, a doctor's assessment confirmed that the 'emotional trauma and psychological stress' were 'direct contributing factors to the onset of Bell's Palsy'. The cruise was due to depart from Port Miami on July 20. Inside Love Island winners Kai and Sanam's lavish honeymoon in Bali Initially, the cruise was delayed by a day, before it was cancelled due to a 'technical issue' affecting the liner's speed. Morgan added: 'We're working class people from a small village in Wales. 'It took us three years to save for this, skipping out on holidays and life's little luxuries. 'This was meant to be a milestone. 'Celebrity Cruises didn't even inform us of the initial delay and then the outright cancellation. 'We were informed by strangers who overheard our conversations. 'When we finally knew that it was cancelled, we couldn't even make emergency calls and had to borrow people's phones because we had British numbers.' Morgan and Davies were issued with a credit voucher each, both totalling £2,619. However, Morgan told The Sun: 'This is not good enough. 'First of all, you can't use the vouchers together, you can only use one voucher per cruise. 'You can't use the vouchers on special offers either, forcing people like us, who are working class, to pay for more expensive cruises. 'On top of that, they said they can't reimburse us for other charges incurred, like the taxi fee to get to the hotel. 'We didn't ask for any of this, and the way they have treated us has been disgusting.' A spokesperson for Celebrity Cruises said: "Celebrity Cruises is in contact with the guest and their travel agent directly on this matter." What is Bell's palsy? What is Bell's palsy? Bell's palsy is the most common cause of facial paralysis, but is still rare, affecting one in about 5,000 people a year. The condition causes temporary muscle weakness or paralysis in one side of the face, and occurs when the nerve that controls facial muscles becomes inflamed or compressed. While it is not known what causes this inflammation, it is thought that herpes or another virus, such as syphilis or Epstein-Barr, could also be responsible. People with diabetes and HIV are thought to be at higher risk of developing Bell's palsy. What are the symptoms? The symptoms of the condition vary from person to person, but develop quickly and reach their peak within 48 hours. According to the NHS, these are the key warning signs: Difficulty closing your eyelid one side of your face, or your mouth drooping on that side Irritation of one eye, such as dryness or increased tear production Earache or pain underneath the ear on the affected side of the face A change to your sense of taste Increased sensitivity to sound in one ear Drooling from your mouth on one side A dry mouth Pain around the jaw A headache Ringing in one or both ears Dizziness Difficulty eating or drinking Impaired speech The NHS advises that if you experience facial weakness or paralysis it can indicate a more serious condition, such as a stroke – so call 999 or visit your nearest A&E department immediately.

Matthew Perry's Friends co-star reveals signs addiction was going 'downhill' on set

Friends star Morgan Fairchild - who is best known for playing Matthew Perry's on-screen mother in the sitcom - has opened up about working with the comedy star amid his addiction Friends star Morgan Fairchild has opened up about working with the late Matthew Perry as he fought addiction, revealing the signs she could tell that he was going "downhill". Morgan, 75, played the role of Matthew's on-screen mother Nora Bing on the hit sitcom Friends, which catapulted Matthew to fame as Chandler Bing. ‌ After battling addiction to alcohol and drugs for many years, Matthew died last October aged 54. He drowned in the spa bath at his Los Angeles after taking ketamine. ‌ Speaking on ITV's Loose Women today, Morgan spoke about working with Matthew on Friends - and the signs that she could tell he had succumbed to addiction. "He was such a joyful, happy person. He was like a fun kid on the set," she said. ‌ "I remember him being a bouncy, fun guy, I was not aware of that early on," she said of his addiction. "Later as things went downhill, I read that he crashed his car into a home or something and I thought, 'Uh oh, this is not going in a good direction.' But because I wasn't there all the time, I didn't really see it." Morgan added that she noticed certain signs when Matthew was battling with addiction on set. "As it slowly went downhill, I heard about it and then was seeing it a bit on the set. Not in his work - he was always on time for me, always knew his lines, he was always great to work with. "But he became a bit more reclusive, you wouldn't see him between scenes as much, he would be in his dressing room. Things like that." Morgan went on to add that she reached out to Matthew in the midst of his addiction as she had experience with friends and family who were addicts. "It's awkward on a set, you're working with people you don't want to be intrusive and people going through those problems, you want to be a support and not irritating them," she said. "You don't want to be a downer for them. ‌ "I wanted to let him know that I was there for him anytime - anytime you want to call, if you want to go to a meeting and you're afraid to go to a meeting, I'll go with you. "He never called unfortunately but I tried to let him know that he had support and somebody who cared aside from his family and the other friends." Morgan Fairchild contributes to ITV's upcoming documentary Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy, sharing her experiences with the Friends star.
