In a world where retirement often signals rest, a
79-year-old woman
in Indore is rewriting the rules with grit, grace, and idli-sambhar. A former administrative officer in the
Indian Army
, she's now running a humble food stall on Khajrana Road — and winning hearts across the internet. Her story, shared in a
viral Instagram video
by Kashish Soni, is a powerful reminder that living life on your own terms doesn't come with an expiry date.
In the video, she's seen calmly preparing a plate of steaming hot idli-sambhar, her posture firm, her energy undeterred. When asked what she's cooking, she simply replies, 'Idli Sambhar,' flashing a smile that hides decades of discipline and resilience.
She informed Kashish that she has served in the Indian Army as an administrative officer, and after retirement, chose to start a food stall rather than slow down. Cooking, she says, isn't her sole passion. She considers herself passionate about everything she does. A Fine Arts graduate who once travelled to Mumbai to pursue her artistic interests, she is a living example of reinvention at every stage of life.

When asked why she never married, she candidly shared that it would have come in the way of her hobbies and independence. In one touching moment captured on video, when Soni tried to pay for the food, the elderly woman gently refused and insisted that she take it without payment.
The clip resonated with thousands online. Many called her the true embodiment of independence, while others pointed out that her efforts weren't driven by money but by sheer love for life and purpose.

Aamir Khan says 'Dhoom 3' could've been better: 'Aditya Chopra made a mistake..."
With high expectations. 'Dhoom 3' is surely one of the most underwhelming films of Aamir Khan and also the weakest among the 'Dhoom' series. Earlier, in a candid interview with Mashable India, actor Aamir Khan opened up about the original plotline of 'Dhoom 3' and why he believes the film could have been emotionally stronger. According to Aamir, one key character—Sweety Dixit, Jai Dixit's wife, played by Rimi Sen in the first two parts—was cut from the final version, a decision he called a 'mistake' by producer Aditya Chopra and director Vijay Krishna Acharya . 'Sweety's Character Was Originally Central' Aamir revealed that the original script of 'Dhoom 3' began with Sweety asking Jai Dixit (played by Abhishek Bachchan) for a divorce, frustrated with her husband's neglect. 'Dhoom 3 behtar ho sakti thi. Kyunki usme ek kirdaar tha—Jai Dixit ki wife Sweety—jo original script mein tha. Adi aur Victor ko laga woh zaroori nahi hai, toh nikaal diya. Mere hisaab se woh galti thi,' said Aamir. He felt the character added depth to Jai's persona and could have given audiences an emotional entry point into the action-heavy film. A Missed Opportunity for Emotional Impact Explaining the original storyline, Aamir said Sweety was tired of being forgotten—Jai would miss Karva Chauth, her birthday, and other important occasions due to his work. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Here's A List Of Cheapest Steel Suppliers (See List) Steel Suppliers | search ads Search Now Undo To win her back, Jai would promise her a long-overdue honeymoon, but an urgent case in Chicago would interrupt their plans. Instead of ditching his wife, the story would unfold with Sweety supporting Jai's mission, urging him to finish the case before returning home. 'It would've added heart to Jai's otherwise rigid character,' Aamir said. About 'Dhoom 3' Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, 'Dhoom 3' hit the big screens on December 20, 2013. The expectations were quite high for the project, but it turned out to be a massive disappointment, especially due to the weak second half and climax. Apurva Asrani on homophobic attack: It wasn't just about one man's hate
Apurva Asrani recently put up an Instagram post in which he wrote about a distressing homophobic incident that happened at his north Goa residence. In the post, he mentioned how a drunk neighbour hurled slurs at him and his partner Neeraj (Kadamboor) over a parking dispute. 'He called Neeraj and me dirty homos, freaks, hijras – and stormed around the complex hurling slurs at us. .. trying to shame us for being gay,' Apurva wrote on Instagram. When the couple reported the incident to their housing association, the initial response was tepid. 'There were people who said, 'Oh, this shouldn't have happened,' but very quickly, the conversation moved on to pool timings,' the Made in Heaven editor told us. He further added, "If a woman said she was harassed it would have been a very different response. Some neighbors said, 'Just settle it, man to man'. I realized people don't actually understand that we are not just two neighbors fighting. This is somebody who is taking on centuries of oppression, slur, and taking that as the backing and threaten us. I am a National Award-winning filmmaker, I have bought this house with my good, and hard-earned money. I should not be feeling like this. If I am feeling like this, what will be happening to the younger kids who haven't got this kind of privilege. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo We want him evicted." The couple demanded action — both from the housing association and from the landlord of the offender, who stays in the UK. 'The homeowner has just responded saying, that they have issued him a two week notice for eviction. But he's requesting for more time. Now, it came back to us – Should we show mercy? Or should we stand our ground? However, I stand for so many like us. The number of times I have been evicted from housing societies just because I'm gay. It used to be horrible. I thought one day I'll buy my home, and it won't happen. I think today it's time for a homophobe to be evicted. So, I hope he actually does get out within two weeks,' he shared. He added, "I've realized that more than being homophobic or apathetic, people are just ignorant. They don't understand the vulnerability. You're living almost living in sin with another man. All these things are used against you. If we want change, we can't just be victims sitting there saying, you've all wronged us. I was very upset. I felt very vulnerable till I took decisive action. The moment I began acting on this, I don't feel that sense of disappointment. "
