Strictly Come Dancing's head judge Shirley Ballas, a Merseyside native, has been at the helm of the judging panel on BBC One's Glitzy show since 2017.
The dance veteran has also graced the US version, Dancing with the Stars, and made an appearance on ITV's The Masked Singer UK, where she participated in the fifth series as the character Rat, but was unmasked and eliminated in the third episode.
Off-screen, Shirley was a professional dancer specialising in the international Latin division, bagging several championship titles. Her personal life has been just as vibrant as her career.
In November last year, it was revealed that the 64-year-old dance legend had ended her relationship with boyfriend Danny Taylor after six years. Previously married twice, she has been candid about the emotional hurdles she's faced in past relationships.

Her first marriage was to her dance partner Sammy Stopford when she was a mere 18 years old.
They tied the knot in 1980 and quickly ascended to stardom in the dance sphere, clinching prestigious titles like Professional Latin at Blackpool in 1983, reports Wales Online.
Despite their professional triumphs as a dance duo, Shirley Ballas and Sammy ended their marriage after four years, yet they've managed to maintain a friendship. Reflecting on their past in 2017, Ballas shared: "Lunch with my first husband, Sammy Stopford. Still love him to bits."

She later tied the knot with Corky Ballas, whom she met at a dance contest in Canada. The couple exchanged vows in 1985 and soon after welcomed their son, Mark.
Their union dissolved in 2007, and Shirley claimed Corky had been unfaithful in her candid 2020 autobiography Behind the Sequins, writing: "He had multiple girlfriends even when I moved to America for him. I gave up my life for that man."
Allegations of infidelity weren't one sided, as Corky accused his wife of being unfaithful with "at least ten different men" throughout their lengthy union - claims Shirley has never addressed publicly. Shirley described the heated confrontation, explaining: "There was a little white angle on one of my shoulders, and a little red angel on the other one."
Following a period of separation, Shirley stunned her fans by rekindling a friendly relationship with ex-partner Corky Ballas. She marked their reconciliation on Instagram with a cheerful selfie, hinting at upcoming projects in her caption as she wrote: "Meeting up with Corky Ballas, father to our wonderful son and Grandad to Banksi. Back working together, simply awesome."
Coming to blows with another woman

Shirley has also openly discussed a confrontation where she struck a woman who brazenly claimed she had been having an affair with her then-husband. In her book, she claimed: "The woman in question sidled up to me, clearly the worse for a drink or two, and said: 'You and I need to talk'."
She elaborated: "I tried to duck it, saying I had nothing to say to her, but she refused to leave. Then, as if in slow motion, I turned to face her just as she blurted out, 'You need to get used to the fact I f****d your husband'."
"The white angel told me, 'keep walking', while the red angel said, 'sock her in the gob'. So that's what I did. I punched her and she rolled away. I'm not proud. All I could hear around me were people whispering, 'Is that Shirley Ballas?'"
Danny Taylor

Shirley and Danny Taylor, who share a 13-year age difference, made their relationship official in 2019 after crossing paths during pantomime season. Shirley admitted she was completely smitten, revealing early in their courtship: "I would marry him tomorrow, if he asked me. If this is what love is, I have never experienced it before."
They became secretly engaged in 2021 but never made it down the aisle, and by November 2024, it was revealed that they had parted ways.
On Jamie Laing's podcast, Great Company with Jamie Laing, she reflected: "Currently, I've just split with my boyfriend. My relationships have been a disaster all the way along the line.
"But what I am truly grateful for is that I still have my mother and that she lives with me, and I get these precious moments with her. Because my mother is the only thing that's been a staple in my life. No friend, no marriage, no nothing."
Strictly Come Dancing is due to return to BBC One later this year.

Kardashian-loved make-up artist reveals how to get £210 of beauty products for £55

We ask make-up artist and social media sensation Genevieve Turley about tips, trends and her new OK! Beauty Box – including a way for Mirror readers to get it for under £55 If you like looking at beauty content on Instagram or TikTok, the chances are that you will have seen some of Genevieve Turley's videos. At a time when beauty can seem to mostly be perfectly edited images and unrealistic standards, professional make-up artist Gen's posts are refreshingly hilarious and down-to-earth – and they've drawn attention from A-listers such as Jennifer Aniston and the Kardashians. Gen also worked on the ITV show Katie Piper's Weekend Escape, helping to make over members of the public with inspiring stories to tell, and has just released her own limited-edition edit with OK! Beauty Box, containing 11 of her favourite products – and a huge saving for Mirror readers to be had, too (keep scrolling for an exclusive offer)... How did you get into doing make-up professionally? I changed career in 2018. I had been a burns and plastics nurse in the RAF but make-up had long been a passion of mine, so once I had my daughter in 2017 I knew I wanted to leave the forces and start my own business. I had no idea what I was doing with social media at first, I just knew it was a free marketing tool and it was a great way to get my work out there. What was the turning point in your career? My presence on social media skyrocketed in 2024 when I started to do more comedy skits about make-up. My first one went viral on Instagram and both Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian commented on it. I went from 4,000 followers to 100,000 in weeks. I like to make fun of trends but sometimes there is a serious undertone about the pressure of beauty standards. How would you describe your make-up style? Natural to soft glam. A lot of my professional work has been bridal, so I have plenty of experience with different skin tones, skin types, ages etc. Online, I like to show my audience how to use products, as the beauty world can be very overwhelming. Most women want simple tips to enhance their natural beauty. And what can people expect from your social media accounts? It's a real mishmash. Overall, I like to think my pages are relatable to women aged 35+. It's life on the go as a woman with two young kids and a dog. I review make-up and skincare while sharing tips and tricks, but I also try to bring some fun. Social media can negatively impact a person's headspace, confidence and worthiness. I like to think that on mine, you will feel seen, empowered and upbeat. What's the most ridiculous make-up trend you've seen recently? So many! The blush hacks have gotten out of control. Just whack it on and get on with your day! And putting make-up onto clingfilm so you can splat it on your face in the morning. Wild! Dangerous, too, as young kids are online and this has obvious risks. Not worth the clickbait. What was the most inspirational story you heard from working on Katie Piper's Weekend Escape? There were so many. Michael [Douglas, celeb hair stylist] and I honestly had such a wonderful time with these incredible individuals who all had inspiring stories to share. One that sticks out was a lady whose young son died from type 1 diabetes. I was sitting in the room with tears rolling down my face. His mum had taken him to the GP and they said it was a virus. He could have so easily been saved. Just heartbreaking. What was important to you wh en creating your OK! B eauty Box? I've had so many beauty boxes over the years and always thought, 'What would I put in mine?' So when this happened I was delighted! I wanted great products that will make a big impact. Medik8 C-Tetra Lipid Vitamin C Radiance Serum is a showstopper. The Rodial Blush Drops will also be popular. This box is a great opportunity to try products you may not have heard of or been afraid to splurge on, but with the massive saving (it's worth over £210 but costs £59.99), it takes away the worry. What are your top tips for using the products inside? Just have a play with them, feel the textures, and try different ways of applying them. Make-up and skincare should be a mix of TLC and creative play. I wanted products that were perfect for my 'natural make-up' women. What's a quick and easy make-up trick that not enough people know? Setting spray. Spritz after foundation and then again after adding powder. It helps to bond the make-up so it looks natural and skin-like, but also adds longevity. You can also spritz throughout the day to rehydrate your skin while also refreshing your make-up. What would you pick as your ultimate desert island make-up product? How can you ask me that?! If I have to say just one, it would be the Dr PawPaw Shea Butter Lip Balm from the box because it's so multifunctional. It's great for the lips but also gives a lovely glow to your cheeks, or you can pop it on your brows to add some shape. It's a great all-rounder and handbag essential. Reader offer Get £5 off the limited-edition OK! Beauty Box by Genevieve Turley – worth over £210 – and buy it for £54.99 instead of the usual price of £59.99 while stocks last. You might also be interested in a skincare-focused box like Lookfantastic's The Skin Renewal Edit, which is valued at £210 but costs £45, or the Boots X Supergoop! Frank Skinner claims there are 'lots of creepy men' working in TV 'making women's lives a misery' as he recalls getting vile cameraman sacked for filming up a female colleague's skirt

has claimed there are 'lots of creepy men' working in the TV industry who often make 'women's lives a misery'. The comedian, 68, recalled one particular incident in which he used his position on his chat show, which aired on both BBC and ITV from 1995 to 2005, to get a vile cameraman sacked after he filmed up a female colleague's skirt. He told The Sun: 'I think if you've got the power to do something about that, you need to use it', as he branded the incident 'horrible' and a form of 'bullying'. '[The cameraman] He thought it was funny to put the camera up a make-up woman's skirt and it got big laughs in the studio. I wasn't in the studio, but I found her crying in a room and she told me about it. 'I asked around. And because I was a big-time comedian, I was able to say: "Well, look, either he goes or I go". I don't want to get anyone sacked, but I did get him sacked. I tell that story not to make myself sound like some big hero and good guy, but just that I had the power and I did something'. Frank said that he believed that is how incident os misconduct should be bullied and found it 'baffling' how they often appear to go ignored. Meanwhile Christopher Biggins has shockingly admitted he would still like to be able to 'grab women by the t***ies' in a bizarre defence of Gregg Wallace. The iconic actor, 76, who is openly gay, said his own past behaviour would 'land him in prison' today and claimed 25 years ago 'everyone' was acting inappropriately. Gregg, 60, stepped down from his duties as Masterchef host after more than 40 complaints about his behaviour were upheld following a BBC investigation. Christopher, who appeared on the show's celebrity version in 2014, said he'd reached out to the scandal-plagued broadcaster following the axe, as well as sharing insight into his own less than savoury antics. He told The Sun: 'Years ago I would approach a woman from behind and grab her t***ies from the front. Well, I'm gay so it didn't matter. And I'd like to still be doing it, but I don't think I can any more. 'If I were to do that now I'd be put into prison. Twenty-five years ago we were all doing it. It was a thing of affection.' He went on: 'I love Gregg and I love his wife. I've tried to get hold of her because they must be going through a terrible time because suddenly careers are vanishing, it's so wrong.' Daily Mail have contacted Christopher Biggins' reps for further comment. No stranger to his own controversy, Christopher was famously axed from the Celebrity Big Brother back in 2016 after making a shocking comment to X Factor star Katie Waissel, which was never broadcast. Christopher told Katie, who is Jewish: 'You better be careful or they'll be putting you in a shower and taking you to a room.' Bosses immediately removed him from the house, and his £100,000 fee was reportedly slashed. Christopher has since apologised for his comments, noting that some of his close friends, such as Birds of a Feather's Lesley Joseph, were Jewish. The BBC review into Gregg's behaviour concluded that the 'majority of the substantiated allegations against him related to inappropriate sexual language and humour'. It added that 'a smaller number of allegations of other inappropriate language and being in a state of undress were also substantiated', with 'one incident of unwelcome physical contact' also substantiated. Australian-born chef co-host John Torode, 59, also lost his job after two decades over allegations that he used the N-word, which he claims to have 'absolutely no recollection' of. Gregg and John have returned to screens for one final time together as the BBC made the decision to air the controversial 21st series of MasterChef. It was filmed last year and remained shelved by the broadcaster until the findings of the independent investigation were gathered. The iconic actor, who is openly gay, said his own past behaviour would 'land him in prison' today and claimed 25 years ago 'everyone' was acting inappropriately (pictured on Celebrity Masterchef in 2014) Fans have been left divided over the move to air the programme, with some branding the decision as 'bizarre' and accused the BBC of being 'tone deaf'. There was a last-minute scramble behind-the-scenes to re-edit it and limit the appearances of John and Gregg. One contestant, Sarah Shafi, will not appear on the programme after she complained about the behaviour of Gregg. She claimed she was 'eyed up and ogled' by Gregg on the show, while accusing the TV host of making an 'off' comment about his reputation with women.
