Netizens laud Priyanka Chopra as she takes Akshay Kumar's name on a global platform with Tom Cruise and appreciates him: 'PC will never not be iconic'
has been promoting her film 'Heads Of State' where she's seen in a powerful avatar, doing hardcore action alongside John Cena and Idris elba. The film began streaming from June 2 onwards but at the premiere of 'Heads Of State' in London, PC was asked about doing big action movies.
The actress made sure she spoke about her roots with the global media at the red carpet as well. When asked about doing her own stunts just like
Tom Cruise
, Priyanka said, "I love what Tom Cruise and
Akshay Kumar
do. They're really good at that. But, I don't think I have the courage to hang off a plane that's taking off or doing that kind of stuff."
She further added, "But, I do love being a part of big mega movies. We do stand on the shoulders of so many people – there's a massive stunt team that made me do all the things that I did."
A user on Reddit, shared this video and wrote, "It was nice to have Akshay's name taken here, like to have people from your country being appreciated in a big place like Hollywood, which is great."
Netizens further lauded Priyanka as they commented on her post, thus pointing out the fact that Priyanka never fails to take names from Bollywood globally, thus always remembering that she's the ambassador of Hindi cinema in the west. A user said, "I mean, he is Khiladi for a reason! Before khatron ke khiladi, he would host a show called Seven deadly arts with Akshay kumar. And I was super fascinated by that!! And pC has always given credit where it's due!! Love her presence of mind and general appreciation!"
Another person said, "Taking akkis name without caring about contemporary 'so called' standards ...Akki rox..Pc- Kudos"
A person commented, "Always did and still love this about PC! She has a sharp awareness that she is not only breaking the ceiling with her exposure in Hollywood but she knows that she is sort-of the representative of Bollywood out west.
And she makes sure to share credit and no shy away from her own native references. That way, she gets to hype up her colleagues, stay true to herself, and in her own way continue being the bridge between cultures.
And the best thing? Its never out-of-the-blue. It makes sense in context!"
The same comment further pointed out, "When she was promoting Citadel, she was mentioning SLB as a director who has a gran vision for his films and achieves scale that looks massive even though his budgets are smaller than Hollywood's. When she is promoting Heads of State now, and just off the back of Tom Cruise doing M:I, it makes total contextual sense for her to not only use the Tom Cruise name/hype in her own action experience, but also tie in Akshay Kumar along the way.
"
Another person said, "Just one thing. PC will never not be iconic. PERIOD."

Maa Week 1 Report Card: Kajol's Film Struggles At Box Office, Mints Rs 25 Crore
Last Updated: While Kajol's film isn't earning well at the box office, the horror and mythology mix has won the audience's hearts. The mythological horror film Maa, starring Kajol, was released in theatres with high expectations. The film had a slow start on its opening day on June 27, receiving a mixed response from both critics and audiences. The film did pick up a little pace over the weekend; however, it is struggling to climb uphill at the box office. On its seventh day, Maa has collected Rs 1.65 crore Nett in India, marking its lowest single-day collection so far. With this, the film's total 7-day collection comes to Rs 26.65 crore, according to early estimates by Sacnilk. The Kajol-starrer has seen a significant drop in the numbers. It opened on a modest note with Rs 4.65 crore on its first day. Following this, it added Rs 6 crore on Saturday and Rs 7 crore on Sunday. The next three days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday saw a decrease, with Rs 2.5 crore, Rs 3 crore and Rs 1.85 crore, respectively. Adding day 7's number, the total box office collection is now expected to inch closer to the Rs 30 crore mark. While the film isn't earning well at the box office, the horror and mythology mix has won the audience's hearts. The average Hindi occupancy rate was recorded as 9.33 per cent on Thursday, July 3. The morning shows occupancy stood at 5.45 per cent, the afternoon shows picked up to 10.16 per cent and the evening shows were at 9.98 per cent. The night shows performed the best, with 11.72 per cent. Directed by Vishal Furia, Maa is bankrolled by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande under the banners of Devgn Films and Jio Studios. The mythological horror film boasts an ensemble cast of talented actors, including Kajol, Indraneil Sengupta, Ronit Roy and Kherin Sharma. Adding to the dramatic clash, the film also features Gopal Singh, Yaaneea Bharadwaj, Jitin Gulati, Surjyasikha Das and Roopkatha Chakraborty. In the film, Kajol steps into the fierce role of a fearless mother who battles supernatural troubles. The film blends myth and mystery, relying on the mother-daughter equation as Kajol tries to protect her daughter from an evil entity. Meanwhile, Maa has faced stiff competition at the box office from Aamir Khan and Genelia D'Souza's Sitaare Zameen Par and Vishnu Manchu's star-studded film Kannappa. While RS Prasanna's emotional drama Sitaare Zameen Par is unshakeable at the box office and continues its dream run at the box office, Kannappa has surpassed Kajol's movie and has crossed the Rs 30 crore mark. As of now, Kajol's film stands at Rs 26.65 crore, while Kannappa has pulled ahead with Rs 30.10 crore over the same week. Beating both the films behind, Aamir Khan's emotional drama has minted Rs 135.65 crore at the box office. First Published:
