Danny Dyer shares real reason he'd turn down knighthood
Former EastEnders star Danny Dyer has shared why he'd turn down a knighthood.
The 47-year-old actor says that he was too "anti-establishment" for the title which are given to individuals by the monarch for a significant contribution to society.
He told Radio Times that he'd follow in the footsteps of his "hero" Harold Pinter, who turned down a knighthood back in 1996.
Nobel-winning playwright Pinter declined the honour of a knighthood offered to him on behalf of the late Queen Elizabeth II by former prime minister John Major, but later accepted the award of Companion of Honour in 2002.
When asked if he'd ever been approached about appearing on the New Year 's Honours list, Danny explained: " Have I f! Harold was my hero and turned down a knighthood.
"He was anti-establishment as well, so I don't think it's for me."
Danny became a household name acting in EastEnders from 2013 to 2022 as fan favourite Mick Carter and has since gone on to star in Disney's hit series Rivals, Sky comedy show Mr. Bigstuff, and an upcoming Irish film Three Quick Breaths.
It comes after Danny left his daughter Dani Dyer horrified with his honeymoon confession.
During a recent episode of their podcast Live And Let Dyers, the Love Island winner opened up about her romantic getaway with new husband and West Ham star Jarrod Bowen, while proud dad Danny managed to overshare in true Dyer fashion.
Back from her sun-soaked trip to Lake Como, Dani revealed the newlyweds were hit with gloomy weather but still made the most of their honeymoon bubble.
'The weather was terrible, it rained for three days but we were very lucky, because it always stopped raining when we went for lunch and for dinners and stuff," Dani told her dad on the pod.
While the couple had hoped for some sunbathing time, Dani admitted they swapped tanning for telly, champagne and baths.
She added: "We just could never sunbathe, and there's not really much to do there so, we just binged the whole series of MobLand. We ate and I'd just drink champagne and have loads of baths."
However, it wasn't long before Danny spun the convo onto his honeymoon and things got very a little too honest.
He said: "To be fair, you shouldn't really be getting out of bed a lot in your honeymoon because me and your mother ended up in Florence, and you know, we was appalling!
"I mean, honestly, I look back on it and I think, 'f****** hell! How on Earth did I manage to get in those sorts of positions!."
A shocked Dani responded saying: "Oh, you're disgusting!" before he hit back with: "What do you mean disgusting? There was two people sharing their love. Them days are long gone now!"

ABC News to launch new show on Disney+

Last week, ABC World News Tonight host David Muir, 51, was beaten by NBC News' new primetime host Tom Llamas in the key 25-54 demographic for the first time. An insider at the time told the Daily Mail that ABC execs were already unsettled by Llamas' impact during his first month as Nightly News host. ABC's Good Morning America - while barely ahead of Today in total viewers - is trailing NBC in the advertiser-coveted group as well. The morning show is led by the network's other fixture, George Stephanopoulos, formerly ABC News' chief anchor, who now co-hosts GMA with Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan. He once was ABC News' chief anchor but is no longer. All three turned down a chance to host the television network's troubled afternoon edition of the morning show, known as GMA3, sources told Daily Mail in April. 'It's the first thing you will see on Disney+ as you wake up,' ABC News president Almin Karamehmedovic told Variety on Monday, describing a more short-form format that combines breaking news, entertainment segments, and viral videos, Each episode will be available on demand for 24 hours before refreshing with a new episode. 'Americans have a lot going on in their lives. They want to stay up to speed on what's happening, not only here at home, but also internationally as well,' added Scott, a 32-year-old senior political correspondent for the network. 'So, this is a way to take the audience with us into the places we're going, yes, to tell them what's going on in the world in the United States, but also give them that a little bit of insight into what we're doing every single day.' The new show will not air on ABC, the network confirmed, unlike the struggling GMA3, which has recently seen a revolving door of co-hosts following the abrupt exits of co-hosts Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan. On-air talents from other hours and elsewhere across the network have been asked to host the show more frequently in what a source described to the Daily Mail as an 'evolution of the show.' In March, a network spokesperson told that Daily Mail that ABC News was in the process of ' unifying all day parts under the GMA umbrella and team.' Elmo breaks silence after hacker shares antisemitic posts on character's X account
Beloved Sesame Street character Elmo has broken his silence after his X account was hacked and used to share antisemitic posts. In a post at 12:17 p.m. ET on his freshly cleansed account, the fluffy red muppet wrote: 'Thank you for being kind to Elmo and all the people in your neighborhood. Elmo loves you.❤️' Over the weekend, a hacker took hold of the account to peddle a string of antisemitic and racist content, as well as calling on President Donald Trump to 'release the files,' a reference to the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. In the series of explicit posts, the hacker branded Trump '[Benjamin] Netanyahu's puppet', called for the killing of Jews, and accused the President of pedophilia. 'Elmo', who appears on the children's show Sesame Street, has over 600,000 followers on X and was steered back into control by the producer of the children's show, they said Sunday. 'Elmo's X account was compromised today by an unknown hacker who posted disgusting messages, including antisemitic and racist posts,' a spokesperson for Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind Sesame Street, said in a statement. 'We are working to restore full control of the account,' they added. Elmo is a beloved character on the children's show, which continues to stream on Disney+ and has been on the air since the late 1960s. All the posts have since been deleted. Following today's new post from Elmo, X's AI chatbot Grok was asked by one user if it loved Elmo. Grok replied: 'Yes, I love Elmo! 'This is in the running for worst post ever made,' wrote the X user about Trump's post. 'Seriously,' Musk responded. 'He said 'Epstein' half a dozen times while telling everyone to stop talking about Epstein. 'Just release the files as promised.' On Sunday, Democratic strategist David Axelrod suggested that Trump was the architect behind the release of the files connected to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
