The operation, executed on Monday in Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the elimination of three terrorists, including Suleiman, a Lashkar commander, along with Afghan and Jibran, who were identified as the masterminds behind the Pahalgam attack.
Shah revealed that meticulous planning began mere hours after the April 22 attack, with a clear directive to security forces to ensure the terrorists could not flee the country. The operation was a coordinated effort involving the Indian Army, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Shah disclosed that ballistic tests conducted at Chandigarh's Forensic Science Laboratory confirmed that the weapons recovered from the terrorists—an M9 carbine and two AK-47s—were the same used in the Pahalgam killings.
The Home Minister also credited the success of Operation Mahadev to intelligence gathered by the Intelligence Bureau (IB), which pinpointed the terrorists' location in the Dachigam area on May 22. 'The IB and the army soldiers continuously worked on capturing signals of the ultra system [a Chinese encrypted communication system]. Finally, on July 22, the sensors established their exact location, and then the Army's 4 Para, J&K police, and CRPF joined hands. They were finally killed yesterday [Monday],' Shah said.
The identities of the terrorists were further verified by Parvaiz Jothar and Bashir Jothar, who allegedly provided shelter to the group. Shah highlighted the precision of the operation, noting, 'We sent human assets who had seen their faces, who identified their bodies and confirmed that they were the ones who shot innocent tourists in Baisaran Valley on April 22.'

Operation Mahadev was not an isolated effort. Shah also referenced Operation Sindoor, which targeted the terrorists' handlers earlier, and India's broader response to the April 22 attack, which included strikes on nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7, leading to a four-day military exchange.

‘Setting a plan of action for next 5 year…': PM Modi hails ‘historic day' on Philippines President's Delhi visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met Philippines President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr at Hyderabad House, wherein their talks were aimed at further cementing the friendship between the two nations. After the meet, addressing reporters, PM Modi hailed 'a historic day for bilateral relations' between the two Asian nations. PM Narendra Modi said, 'We are taking India to the levels of a strategic partnership. This will give our relationship a new speed and depth, and give strength to our relationship in the Defence and Security Sector.' 'In the last few years, there has been progress in our relations in all sectors- trade, defence, maritime, health, security, food security, development partnership, and people-to-people ties. It is a matter of great happiness that we are setting a plan of action for the next five years.' PM Modi said adding, 'Till July 2027, the Philippines is India's country coordinator. In 2026, you will preside over the ASEAN Chair'. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his appreciation for the Philippines' decision to grant visa-free entry to Indian tourists, describing it as a welcome move. He announced that, in a reciprocal gesture, India would offer free e-visas to tourists from the Philippines. PM Modi further stated that efforts would be undertaken this year to establish direct flight connectivity between India and Manila, enhancing travel and tourism ties between the two nations. India and the Philippines have conducted joint naval exercises for the first time in the disputed South China Sea — a significant military deployment that has provoked a strong reaction from China, according to an Associated Press report. Beijing has long-standing territorial disputes with both Asian democracies and a historic regional rivalry with New Delhi. The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, General Romeo Brawner, stated on Monday that the two-day joint naval sail and exercises, which commenced on Sunday, were successfully carried out, the AP report added. Brawner expressed hope that Filipino forces would engage in further joint manoeuvres with the Indian military in the future. When asked whether Chinese forces had responded in any way, General Brawner remarked, 'We did not experience any untoward incident but we were still shadowed. We expected that already.' This is the first visit by the President of Philippines, a Southeast Asian country to India since he assumed office back in 2022, marking a significant milestone, as his visit aligns with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. He is accompanied by First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos and a high-level delegation, including several Ministers from his Cabinet. Philippines President is visiting India from August 4-8.

Telangana sees drop in off-Budget borrowings, LS informed

HYDERABAD: Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary on Monday informed Lok Sabha that the off-Budget borrowings of the Telangana government reduced considerably since the time Congress was voted to power in the state. During the Question Hour, the minister said that the off-budget borrowings declared by the state were Rs 35,258 crore in 2021-22, Rs 9,597 crore in 2022-23, Rs 2,546 crore in 2023-24 and Rs 2,697 crore in 2024-25. Meanwhile, responding to a query raised by Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Pankaj Chaudhary said that the REC Limited has already granted a time extension for the completion of works until December, 2024 at the request of Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project Corporation (KIPCL). The rebate on interest rate may be considered upon the completion/closure of the project, the REC informed the state government. However, any change in loan amortisation schedule would result in the downgrade of KIPCL's account classification (from standard to Sub-standard) in the books of PFC/REC Ltd in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India, the Union Minister said.
