Saptak Talwar logs first top-15 finish on HotelPlanner Tour

Meath (Ireland), Aug 11 (PTI) India's Saptak Talwar landed his first top-15 finish on the HotelPlanner Tour with a final round of one-under 71 at the Irish Challenge at Killeen Castle.
Talwar, who has been playing on the HotelPlanner Tour this season, shot rounds of 75-70-70-71 to finish one-under for the week at the par-72 Killeen Castle course. It was his best round of the season on the Tour.
Oihan Guillamoundeguy secured a three-stroke victory in the Irish Challenge. The Frenchman signed for a two under par round of 70 on the final day to reach 11 under par for the week, with Ronan Kleu from Switzerland in the second place on eight under par.
Guillamoundeguy moved from 15th to sixth in the Road to Mallorca Rankings following his win here to boost his chances of promotion to the DP World Tour, with the leading 20 players graduating at the end of the season.

Agency: PTI Last Updated: Boise (Idaho), Aug 18 (PTI) Rayhan Thomas carded a final round of 1-over 72 to finish the week in Boise at tied 58 in the Albertsons Boise Open on the Korn Ferry Tour. Thomas, who started the week with a strong first round of 65, slipped thereafter. With 65-70-69-72 his combined score for the week was eight under par. The final round included five birdies, four bogeys and one double bogey. Indo-Canadian Sudarshan Yellamaraju missed the cut, while Indo-American Julian Suri was tied-seventh. Emilio Gonzalez of Mexico won the title at the Hillcrest Country Club by becoming the fourth player in the history of the Korn Ferry Tour and the first player since 2010 to shoot 10-under par on the final day of a 72-hole tournament and win. Gonzalez finished the week at 22-under par (68-68-65-61). In ttthe second place was Jeffrey Kang with a score of 21 under par (67-67-64-65). In what has become a four-way race for the final spot in India's squad for the upcoming Asia Cup, one among star batters Shreyas Iyer and Rinku Singh, besides all-rounders Washington Sundar and Riyan Parag, might be picked for the tournament, according to a report in The Indian Express. Iyer, Rinku or Riyan, or they might even go with Sundar. If selectors take a call on pure batting talent, they do not have to look beyond Iyer, who led two different teams, both with the bat against spin and his captaincy, to Indian Premier League finals in two consecutive seasons. Iyer has grown into a confident presence of late, earning respect in every dressing room he steps into. But Sundar poses a roadblock in front of Iyer. He did all that was asked of him in England, save a Test and smack a few big blows in the company of the tail, making the crucial difference between loss and a draw. Sundar's skill set could come in handy in Dubai, where he was part of the team that lifted the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year as well. Meanwhile, Rinku has been designated a finisher by his Indian Premier League team as well when he has turned out in India colours, often limiting the number of deliveries he gets to face. Smashing five successive sixes in the final over to seal a victory is a rare feat and while that moment thrust Rinku into the national spotlight, it has typecast him as a finisher as well. An outside contender is Riyan, who has been earmarked as a promising talent but hasn't quite delivered, at least not consistently. Aditi logs best finish of 2025, 6th in Portland
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Portland (Oregon), Aug 18 (PTI) Aditi Ashok fired a final round of 5-under 67 to finish sixth in The Standard Portland Classic held at Columbia Edgewater Country Club on the LPGA. The sixth place finish is Aditi's best finish of the season on the LPGA and only the second Top-10 finish this season. Aditi shot 69-70-65-67 to finish the week with a score of 17 under par. She had seven birdies and two bogeys in her final round. Indian-American Gurleen Kaur shot 7-under 65 on the final day for her career best result of second with a total score of 20-under par. Kaur shot rounds of 65-68-70-65 to end the week four strokes behind the winner Akie Iwai. Indian-Canadian Savannah Grewal finished tied 38 with a total score of seven under par (69-67-72-73). Akie Iwai shot a final round of 6-under 66 to secure her maiden title by a comfortable margin of four strokes. The Japanese player finished the week with a total score of 24 under par (67-67-64-66). Her final round included five birdies and was devoid of bogeys. She also joins a small list of golfers who are part of a sibling duo to have won a title on the tour. Chisato Iwai, Akie's twin sister, also won her maiden title earlier this year at the Mexico Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba.
