The CBSE Career Guidance Dashboard informs students about career exploration, while CBSE's Counseling Hub and Spoke School Model seeks to strengthen mental health support systems.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) launched two initiatives on Thursday, August 7. The first is the CBSE Career Guidance Dashboard, and the second is the CBSE Counseling Hub and Spoke Model. These initiatives aim to enhance career preparation and psycho-social support for students in the academic session 2025-26.
The Career Guidance Dashboard equips students with tools and resources for informed career exploration, while CBSE's Counseling Hub and Spoke School Model seeks to strengthen mental health support systems. This model operates through a network of CBSE Mentor Hub Schools collaborating with Spoke Schools.
Both initiatives were launched at the CBSE Integrated Office, Sector 23, Dwarka, New Delhi. More than 500 participants, including principals, counselors, wellness teachers, and education experts, attended the event. CBSE Chairman IAS Rahul Singh mentioned that both initiatives align with the National Education Policy 2020 and are based on technology and sustainable development.
CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta, IAS, emphasised the importance of organised mental health support and praised schools for their role in guiding students through academic and career challenges. The event also featured panel discussions, including a session by CBSE Controller of Examinations Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj on the reforms implemented post-NEP 2020.
The Career Guidance Dashboard, accessible at cbsecareerguidance.in, is now live. A special session provided details on the CBSE Counseling Hub and Spoke Model, outlining its implementation protocols, responsibilities, and monitoring mechanisms.
'Anchored in the vision of NEP 2020, these initiatives aim to enhance the quality and accessibility of both career guidance and psychosocial support. They also focus on building institutional capacities among educators, counselors, and wellness teachers," reads the official notice.
'We therefore request all schools to actively implement CBSE Counseling Hub & Spoke School Model and utilise the career guidance resource for nurturing well-rounded, future-ready learners through sustained guidance and emotional support," the notice added.

What's Really In Your Supplement? Expert Tips To Decode Labels Before You Buy

Last Updated: By staying informed, choosing verified products, and asking the right questions, consumers can ensure their supplements help and never harm their journey to better health. Wellness has become a priority for millions of Indians, with supplements now a go-to for filling nutritional gaps and boosting overall health. But with rising demand comes a growing challenge – the abundance of counterfeit and substandard products entering the market. These not only put consumer health at risk but also undermine the credibility of an industry that thrives on promoting well-being. 'Consumers have the right to ensure the validity of the label with the product's content," says Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Mittal, Director of Quality Control at Herbalife India. 'This is more than a personal concern, it's a shared responsibility and a public health priority," he adds. By learning how to decode health supplement labels, consumers can make informed decisions and protect themselves from unsafe or ineffective products. Why Quality Matters Supplements are widely available over the counter, but accessibility should not come at the cost of safety. 'Choosing supplements from trusted and credible sources ensures that the products are made with care, backed by science, and meet regulatory standards," Dr. Mittal explains. High-quality supplements typically offer: Accurate, well-researched ingredient composition Scientifically determined proportions for optimal effectiveness Clean manufacturing processes with rigorous safety testing Transparent health claims backed by clinical data The Counterfeit Challenge According to the World Health Organisation, at least 1 in 10 medicines in low- and middle-income countries are counterfeit, and the nutraceutical sector is not immune. 'The Indian nutraceutical segment thrives on informed choices and responsible sourcing. By opting for reputable brands, you safeguard your health and your trust," Dr. Mittal says. How to Decode a Supplement Label Your best defence as a consumer is the label, if you know what to look for. Dr Mittal shares key things to look for. License Number: Confirms licensing by Indian food safety authorities. Batch Number & Expiry Date: Key for traceability, quality, and safety. Ingredient List: Look for full disclosure; avoid vague 'proprietary blends" without details. Source of Purchase: Buy only from official brand websites, authorised distributors, or trusted retailers. Avoid suspiciously low prices and generic packaging. Awareness is Key 'Trust in the wellness industry is built on transparency, consistency, and quality," says Dr. Mittal. Leading brands are now adopting digital trackability, robust internal testing, and strict sourcing standards to reassure consumers. In a growing and competitive market, decoding supplement labels is no longer optional. It's essential. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Skip 10K Steps: How Japanese Interval Walking Delivers More In Just 30 Minutes

Last Updated: The Japanese Interval Walking technique has gained popularity on social media. This method is suited to those who want the benefits of running but prefer a lower-impact routine. For years, the magic number for fitness has been 10,000 steps a day. But a Japanese walking method, recently revived on social media, is proving that you can get better results in far less time. Known as the Japanese interval walking, it alternates between three minutes of brisk walking and three minutes of slower recovery walking, repeated for a total of 30 minutes. How The Japanese Interval Walking Works The concept is simple but surprisingly effective: the brisk intervals should be fast enough to leave you slightly breathless and unable to speak in full sentences, while the slow phases allow your body to fully recover. This shift in pace mimics high-intensity interval training (HIIT), but without the pounding impact of running. The Science Behind Japanese Interval Walking Japanese researchers have been studying this method for over two decades, particularly in older adults. In one landmark study involving 139 participants aged around 63, those who practised interval walking four or more days a week improved their peak aerobic capacity – an important marker of heart and lung fitness – far more than those who walked continuously. They also saw benefits like reduced blood pressure and stronger knee joints. In another trial, people with type 2 diabetes improved their blood sugar control and overall health with interval walking, even when calorie burn matched that of continuous walking. On average, fitness levels increased by 15–20% over a few months, with participants losing 3–5 kilos, mostly from body fat. Who Should Try Japanese Interval Walking? This style of walking is particularly suited to those who want the benefits of running but prefer a lower-impact routine. It's an excellent fit for middle-aged or older adults, beginners looking to build endurance, or anyone short on time. Already very fit? Simply swap the brisk walking segments for light jogging to keep the challenge high. More Than Just a Calorie Burner Beyond weight loss and fitness gains, interval walking offers additional perks: improved muscle strength, better heart health, and enhanced joint resilience. And unlike gym workouts, it requires no equipment, no membership, and no special training. How to Start Japanese Interval Walking? Begin with a 5-minute warm-up, then alternate between three minutes of brisk walking and three minutes of slow walking for 30 minutes. Do it three to five times a week, and track your progress over time. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Himachal govt seeks separate e-way bill to track narcotic substances under GST

Shimla, Aug 9 (PTI) In a move to curb the growing menace of drug abuse and prevent the diversion of narcotic substances from pharma companies, the Himachal Pradesh government has formally approached the GST Council, seeking the introduction of a dedicated e-way bill mechanism specifically for narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. With this step, the government aims to enable real-time monitoring of their movement across the supply chain, thereby tightening control at every stage. A state government spokesperson on Saturday said a committee was being constituted under the chairmanship of the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) to oversee operations of licensed pharmaceutical companies dealing in narcotic formulations. 'This committee will include officers from the excise department, Police and Drug Control Authority and would be tasked with ensuring compliance with regulatory norms and preventing misuse of narcotic substances" he said. 'In addition, the Department of State Taxes and Excise has imposed quantity restrictions on the handling of narcotic drugs by license holders. This measure is intended to minimise the risk of excess stock being diverted for illegal use" he said. The spokesperson further added that the government was currently revising the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Rules, 1989 and updating the Integrated Drug Prevention Policy, aiming to strengthen the overall legal and administrative framework for drug control in the state. 'In line with its commitment to grassroots-level enforcement and public awareness, the government has also constituted district-level committees under the chairmanship of the respective deputy commissioners. These committees will ensure effective implementation of laws, facilitate inter-departmental coordination, and organize awareness campaigns, particularly targeting the youth" he said.
