Texas A&M's 2025 schedule considered one of the Top 10 toughest slates per USA TODAY
On Wednesday, A&M's schedule was recognized as one of the toughest nationally, according to USA TODAY writer Jordan Mendoza, who released his top 10 most demanding college football schedules based on the recent US LBM preseason top 25 rankings.
Texas A&M is No. 21 in the rankings, which was expected given the lack of national confidence in starting quarterback Marcel Reed. At the same time, the rest of the 2025 roster, including 14 transfer additions, is deep and talented enough to win nine or ten games, despite the schedule.
While Florida's schedule is considered the toughest in the country, coming in at No. 1, Texas A&M's schedule is ranked 7th, primarily due to the road games I listed above.
"The No. 21 ranked team in the preseason poll will be fighting all season to make sure it stays in the Top 25. The Aggies have a highly anticipated non-conference matchup on Sept. 13 at No. 5 Notre Dame. From there, there's four other ranked matchup sprinkled throughout the rest of the season, with No. 17 Florida visiting on Oct. 11 and a trip to face No. 9 LSU on Oct. 25. No. 13 South Carolina comes into town Nov. 15, and the season ends with the first trip to Austin since 2010 to play No. 1 Texas."
Texas A&M needs to win at least one game between Notre Dame, LSU, and Texas, while defending home field against Florida and South Carolina is crucial to ending the regular season with a chance at reaching the playoff. Yes, Aggie fans would love revenge, especially on the road against Texas after last season's 17-7 loss in Kyle Field, but for that game to truly matter, outside of bragging rights, the path I laid out is the only way forward.

Steelers countdown to kickoff — No. 30: a history of the number and who wore it best
The Steelers countdown to kickoff is here — and we're at 30 days until Pittsburgh faces off against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. In the spirit of the countdown, we're taking a look at the history of No. 30 and the players who wore it best. Current Steelers No. 30 wearer: RB Jaylen Warren: Warren is the only Steeler wearing No. 30 on the roster. All eyes are on the fourth-year Steelers running back to deliver in 2025 — his first season with Pittsburgh as the lead back after ex-Steeler Najee Harris signed with the Chargers this offseason. Last five Steelers to wear No. 30: Best No. 30 in Steelers history: CB Chad Scott Chad Scott is the best Steeler to ever wear No. 30. Selected with the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 1997 NFL Draft, Scott spent eight seasons with the Steel City — snagging 21 interceptions, four of which were pick-sixes, tied for the second-most in franchise history. A steady presence in the secondary during the late 1990s and early 2000s, Scott would finish out the final two seasons of his nine-year career as a Patriot — but remains the greatest to wear No. 30 in Pittsburgh. Broncos' deep WR room ready to compete for spots in preseason
The Denver Broncos only list two starting wide receivers on their "unofficial" depth chart: Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims. Devaughn Vele is listed as the backup to Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin is listed as the backup to Mims. Pat Bryant, the team's third-round pick in this year's draft, is buried among the rookies (don't read into that). 'Courtland has been having a really good camp," offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said earlier this week. "He looks to me even better than he did last camp. We mentioned Troy. Marvin is coming along. He finished strong last year, and we expect him to keep on that upward trajectory. Vele's been dealing with some things, but he's looking good now. I think he's had a couple of his best days the last two days." Those four players -- plus Bryant, who will have to "earn" his spot this summer -- are the team's top WRs going into 2025. Who ends up being the sixth wide receiver remains to be seen. Lombardi specifically mentioned veteran Trent Shrierfield, who was signed this spring, and Michael Bandy, who spent the last two seasons on the practice squad. "We've added Sherfield Sr. and he's been… I think we all know he's a great blocker, but the ball keeps finding him in practice. He's making a lot of catches out here. Bandy is always Mr. Reliable. We have some young guys that are really playing well, some of our rookies that were free agents. It's been a really good class as far as that's concerned. Like you said, we have a lot of depth and it's going to be interesting as camp goes on and develops." The competition for playing time at receiver will heat up this weekend when the Broncos face the San Francisco 49ers on the road in their preseason opener. The list of undrafted rookies competing for spots features Joaquin Davis, Courtney Jackson, Jerjuan Newton and Kyrese Rowan. Everyone will look to impress over the next few weeks ahead of the cutdown to a 53-man roster. Several receivers who don't end up on the active roster could stick around on the practice squad -- or catch on with another team. The preseason games will be crucial. Stay tuned. Could former Notre Dame QB Riley Leonard be the starter for the Colts in Week 1?
Riley Leonard doing Riley Leonard things 💪😤📺 @nflnetwork #IrishInTheNFL☘️ | @Colts | @rileyleonard13_ The Indianapolis Colts played its first preseason game on Thursday night, and there were more than a few positive developments for last year's starter for Notre Dame in Riley Leonard after making noise in practice leading up to the game. Picked in the sixth round, not much was expected as Anthony Richardson was the presumed starter. Unfortunately for the former Florida product, he suffered an injury early in the game against the Baltimore Ravens. Obviously this isn't what Indianapolis wanted to see, but it gave Leonard a chance to get more playing time than he expected. He did was he does best, and that was moving the ball with his legs, gaining 34 yards on four carries. He wasn't sharp throwing, as Leonard completed half of his 24 attempts for 92-yards while getting picked off once. Daniel Jones was next off the bench after Richardson went down, and it does look like he wanted to return, but the coaches didn't let him according to Destin Adams. Most likely Leonard is still trying to make the team as the third-string quarterback, but the starter does have an injury history and Jones hasn't looked like a No. 6 overall pick in his six years in the league. It will be interesting what happens, but we are all rooting for Leonard to make the team, and potentially see some playing time during his rookie year.
