Lindsay Lohan Says She Was Pigeonholed to Play Certain Types of Roles But Plans to ‘Break That Cycle': ‘I Have To Fight For Stuff Like That'

Yahoo12 hours ago
Lindsay Lohan is sharing her frustrations about how growing up in the public eye pigeonholed her from playing more sophisticated roles.
'Yeah, I do [think I was pigeonholed],' she said in an interview with The Times U.K.. 'I was so thrilled to work on 'A Prairie Home Companion' and yet even today I have to fight for stuff that is like that, which is frustrating. Because, well, you know me as this — but you also know I can do that. So let me! Give me the chance. I have to break that cycle and open doors to something else, leaving people no choice. And in due time, if Martin Scorsese reaches out, I'm not going to say no.'

Lohan began acting at an early age and had her first breakout role in 1998's 'The Parent Trap.' She became a household name after appearing in several 2000s films, including 'Mean Girls,' 'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen' and 'Herbie: Fully Loaded.'
As she climbed the Hollywood ranks, the movie star took a brief career hiatus during the 2000s. Lohan explained why she decided to step outside of the spotlight.
'I wanted to take a minute,' Lohan said. 'I was losing that feeling of excitement about doing a film, and I wanted to live my own life for a bit, figure out how to have a more private life, a real life. I wanted to wait to get that itch again.'
Lohan has since returned to the big screen and will star opposite Jamie Lee Curtis in the upcoming film, 'Freakier Friday.' A follow-up to the duo's 2003 comedy, 'Freaky Friday,' the new story features a 'multigenerational twist' that features Anna (Lohan) as a mom. The movie will be released in theaters on Aug. 8.
Looking ahead, Lohan said she wants to be a part of a wider range of projects.
'I miss films that are stories, like 'All About Eve' or 'Breakfast at Tiffany's,'' she said. 'There are not many major movies I want to go and see that are like that — there's a gap and I'm craving to do work like that.'
The actress is set to star in the new Hulu thriller, 'Count My Lies,' which she also executive produces. Based on the novel of the same name, the series is about a conniving nanny who uncovers the secrets of a family she works with. The production marks Lohan's first starring role in a TV series.

Watch Jelly Roll Fight Logan Paul in Much-Hyped WWE SummerSlam Match

The much-hyped battle between Jelly Roll and Logan Paul finally hit the ring Saturday at WWE's SummerSlam event, where the country singer and tag team partner Randy Orton faced off against the social media provocateur and his partner Drew McIntyre. The fight, which was set up over a month ago on Smackdown and was heavily promoted since then, marked Jelly Roll's first official match as a wrestler after making a handful of appearances at WWE events over the past year. More from Rolling Stone How to Watch WWE SummerSlam 2025 Online How to Watch 'WWE Friday Night SmackDown' Online Without Cable Hulk Hogan, Wrestling Superstar Turned Right-Wing Hero, Dead at 71 Jelly Roll — who claimed he broke his pinky and suffered other injuries while training for the match — endured a significant amount of beating during the match; at one point, Jelly Roll was outside the ring, lying on an announcers table when Paul jumped from the top post and landed on the singer, causing the table to overturn. 'The day the music died,' one of his opponents quipped. That aforementioned move knocked out Jelly Roll for a considerable amount of time as Orton fought against Paul and McIntyre alone. However, he recovered and made his way back to the ring 'like the walking dead' in time to accept Orton's tag-in, and delivered some clotheslines and choke slams on Paul to even up the match. However, the match concluded when Paul dropped his signature move the 'Paul from Grace' on Jelly Roll, who was then promptly pinned and defeated. NEWS OF THE WEEK: Ozzy Osbourne's family overcome with emotion as they visit tributes during funeral procession

Ozzy Osbourne's wife and children were overcome with emotion as they visited the vast sea of tributes to the rocker during the funeral procession in Birmingham, England on Wednesday. The Black Sabbath rocker's wife Sharon and their three children Aimee, Jack and Kelly travelled behind his hearse as it made its way along Broad Street, which was lined with thousands of mourning fans. A purple crucifix sat on top of the hearse, and a purple floral tribute reading "Ozzy" rested against his coffin.
