Sam Asghari insists he had to 'work harder' as an actor because of Britney Spears marriage
The 31-year-old model and actor met his ex on the set of her 'Slumber Party' music video in 2016, and they tied the knot six years later, before separating in August 2023 and finalising their divorce in May 2024.
Speaking to 'Page Six Radio', he said he "absolutely [had] to work harder to prove myself.'
He was also working as a waiter and for his own Asghari Fitness brand, with some casting agents seeing him as a "cheesy trainer".
He added: ''Oh, and he's associated with a pop star, which is also cheesy as well.' Or 'can we see him as a character?' There was that line as well."
However, Sam acknowledged that there were advantages to being in a high profile romance with the 'Toxic' pop star.
He said: 'I can't sit here and lie and say, 'It wasn't good for me'.
"When you're in such a public relationship ... it sort of gave me that platform for who I am.'
However, he recently rubbished the suggestion that he tried to take advantage of Britney's fame and success.
Sam told the 'Trading Secrets' podcast: "I never get mad at the general public or fans or people that are seeing your life from a distance, especially now that I'm not in a relationship for over two years or a year and something.
"Looking from an outside perspective, I see there's an age difference, there's a fame difference, there's this, there's that. But realistically, we met as co-stars."
Despite this, Sam insists he's not worried about the opinions of fans.
He explained: "It's all for me. So it's not really focused on the fans or whoever … My career is always going to be, I'm always going to do things that's going to benefit the fans and people that are watching me. And I want to be a good example. But at the same time, it's because that makes me feel better."

Sam Fender to start work on new album latest this year
Sam Fender is planning to hit the studio to work on a new album once he wraps his current run of shows. During his headline set at Manchester's Wythenshawe Park on Saturday (16.08.25), the Hypersonic Missiles rocker told the crowd that once he's done with his last show of 2025, which, as it stands, is in Perth, Australia on November 28, he will busy himself with making new music and getting his voice the best shape possible after suffering a vocal cord haemorrhage this summer. He told the crowd: 'I'm gonna go away at the end of this lot of shows and sort my s*** out and get my voice as good as possible and make another album and f*** loads of new tunes next year. 'I wanna make it the greatest time ever.' Sam was forced to pull out of several European festival dates after suffering the haemorrhage. The 31-year-old rocker went to see his ears, nose and throat doctor (ENT) after struggling during his headline set at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in July. He was then advised not to sing for two weeks to prevent 'lasting damage to [his] vocal cords'. In a statement shared on Instagram at the time, he said: "Hey everyone, at the beginning of the week I got my voice checked by my ENT doctor and the cords were slightly swollen. 'After a few days rest I was advised by my team that I was okay to perform. On stage at Silverstone I could feel that things were a lot harder than usual, I felt I needed to push a lot harder to sing – this is never a good sign. 'I've just been checked by my ENT again today, as I was concerned about it, and it's transpired that I've had a haemorrhage on one of my vocal cords. 'I've been advised to be on vocal restriction and to not sing for the next 14 days. 'If I were to play at these next shows I would risk causing lasting damage to my vocal cords. This means I cannot perform at the upcoming Rock Werchter, Down the Rabbit Hole, NOS Alive, and Montreux Jazz Festivals. 'I'm so sorry to everyone who is coming to those festivals with our show in mind. Our fans are the most important thing to us, I hate letting people down and I hate not being able to sing for weeks as it is my only real passion in life.' The star was forced to cancel a number of gigs on his 2024 tour after suffering a similar injury to his vocal cords. Sam has been on a stadium tour this summer in support of his third studio album People Watching which included dates at the London Stadium and St James' Park, the home of his beloved Premier League team Newcastle United FC.

Sam Asghari scathingly brands Kevin Federline a ‘professional father‘
Sam Asghari has scathingly branded Kevin Federline a 'professional father'. The model, 31, made the biting remark about his former wife Britney Spears' ex, who has two children with the pop star, when asked for his thoughts on the release of DJ Kevin's forthcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew. In a video shared by TMZ, Sam says when asked about the autobiography, which promises to delve into Federline's marriage to Britney and his experiences as a dad: 'Well, he was a professional father.' Sam added: 'It would be the first book that'll tell you how to be a professional father.' The remark was made while Asghari was leaving The Abbey, a popular venue in West Hollywood. Kevin, 47, who was married to Britney, 43, from 2004 to 2007, announced earlier this month his memoir was on its way. He describes the book as 'extremely intimate and transparent,' aiming to provide insight into his rise to fame, the challenges of fatherhood and the emotional toll of public life. In a press release, Kevin stated: 'I achieved my biggest dreams, dealt with crushing heartbreak, and endured constant ridicule, all while becoming the father my children needed as they experienced nonstop emotional turbulence.' The memoir is set for release on October 21, 2025. Kevin has two sons with Spears: Sean Preston, 19, and Jayden James, 18. Following his divorce from Britney, the former back-up dancer gained custody of the children and received $20,000 per month in child support until they turned 18. He later remarried, to Victoria Prince, with whom he has two daughters, Jordan Kay, 12, and Peyton Marie, nine. Kevin also has two older children, Kori Madison, 21, and Kaleb Michael Jackson, 19, from his previous relationship with actress Shar Jackson. Sam and Britney met while filming the music video for her 2016 hit Slumber Party, and began dating shortly after. They got engaged in 2021 and married in June 2022. But their marriage ended in divorce in 2024 following a miscarriage in 2022. Sam is currently in a relationship with realtor Brooke Irvine. Despite their separation, Asghari has expressed support for Spears. In January, he told Page Six: 'I think that the number one factor of a partner is to be there for one another, no matter what.'

Britney Spears' ex-husband Sam Asghari savagely roasts Kevin Federline over new tell-all book
Britney Spears' ex-husband Sam Asghari took a vicious swipe at Kevin Federline over his upcoming tell-all book, calling the dad of six a 'professional father'. In a clip shared by TMZ on Saturday, a photographer asked the former personal trainer what he thought of Federline's upcoming book, which will 'detail his marriage with Britney.' 'Well, he was a professional father,' he replied while walking outside West Hollywood hotspot The Abbey on Saturday, cheekily adding that the memoir 'would be the first book that'll tell you how to be a professional father'. Federline — who was married to Spears, 43, from 2004 to 2007 — announced his upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew, earlier this month. Per The Daily Mail, the former back-up dancer — who shares sons Sean Preston, 19, and Jayden James, 18, with Spears — wrote in a press release that the book will uncover personal details about their 'highly publicised marriage'. 'This book is extremely intimate and transparent,' Federline wrote in the release. 'I achieved my biggest dreams, dealt with crushing heartbreak and endured constant ridicule, all while becoming the father my children needed as they experienced non-stop emotional turbulence.' The book is set for release on October 21 in the US. Federline famously took custody of their sons after the marriage ended, and collected $US20,000 ($30,678) a month in child support from the pop princess until November 2024 — when both sons were past the age of 18. Following the ill-fated union, which saw Spears endure a highly publicised meltdown amid the end of her marriage, Federline went on to marry Victoria Prince, with whom he shares two daughters. He also shares two grown children with ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson. Spears was briefly married to childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004, though the union was quickly annulled. Years after her split from Federline, she went on to date Asghari after filming her Slumber Party music video with him. In May 2022, following their 2021 engagement, the former couple endured a miscarriage. 'It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,' they said in a joint statement at the time. 'This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along. However we were overly excited to share the good news.' Spears went on to marry Asghari in a star-studded ceremony in June 2022, only to have it end in divorce in 2024. Asghari, 31, who is now dating Brooke Irvine, appears to have residual loyalty for his famous ex-wife. The Traitors personality told Page Six in January that he wishes his ex-wife 'the best,' despite their failed marriage. 'I think that the number one factor of a partner is to be there for one another, no matter what,' he added.
