Abandoned dog with anxiety looks just like dog in ‘Superman.' He needs a hero
Meet Bentley, an almost 4-year-old terrier-doodle mix, who is having trouble fitting into his new foster home, the South Plains Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Lubbock says.
'I was surrendered to the rescue due to no fault of my own. At first I had a really hard time transitioning from being with my family to being in my foster home. I struggled so much that I had to start taking anxiety medication to help me be okay,' the shelter said in a July 7 Facebook post, speaking in Bentley's voice.
'I am the most cuddly and sweet guy once you get to know me and I get to feel and I get to feel and I learn to trust you. It may take a little while for me to warm up so I need someone with a lot of patience and a big patient heart to understand I am a good loving boy.'
The shelter failed to point out Bentley and Krypto's resemblance, however. Krypto has been stealing hearts all over the nation after the release of the latest movie from the DC Universe. The movie even lead to a 500-percent surge in dog adoption interest, according to The Wrap.
The inspiration for the not-so-trainable sidekick came from Gunn's own rescue pup, Ozu, whom he adopted while writing the script for the film, CNN reported.
Now, it's time for Bentley to find his own Man of Steel (or, rather, his own Supergirl for those who have seen the film.)
'I am 95% potty trained and sleep well in a kennel at night or when my foster mom is away from home. I get along well with other animals as long as I have a slow introduction. I do kind of feel like I should be boss and tell everyone what they should do,' the shelter said.
The shelter says the sweet boy would prefer a home without small children, but he's okay with cats and dogs.

Lubbock is about a 350-mile drive northwest from Dallas.

David Corenswet Makes Pitch to be in 'Batman' Movie in BTS 'Superman' Clip
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors "Superman" has had a strong outing as the first live-action film of the new DCU under James Gunn. The film has grossed over $579 million at the global box office, according to BoxOfficeMojo. More news: James Gunn Reveals 'Superman' Digital Release Date The $331 million that "Superman" grossed domestically beats out "Man of Steel," which grossed $291 million. Simply put, Gunn's first foray with the Last Son of Krypton is a hit. Now, Gunn is set to build out his DCU even more. The current DC landscape is without its Batman, which is set to be showcased in "The Brave and the Bold." That is not to be confused with DC Elseworlds Batman, which is portrayed by Robert Pattinson and is under the direction of Matt Reeves. Batman is the more popular character in terms of live-action films, and even "Superman" star David Corenswet knows it. David Corenswet in "Superman". David Corenswet in "Superman". Warner Bros More news: Jerry Bruckheimer Teases Johnny Depp Return for 'Pirates' Reboot A new behind-the-scenes video from "Superman" shared by ComicBook showcases Corenswet getting ready to film, and engaging in a Batman chant. He also states how badly he wants to be in the "Batman film." '1, 2, 3, BATMAN! ….I'm just trying to end up in that movie. I REALLY wanna be in that movie 🤞' -David Corenswet — (@ComicBook) August 12, 2025 ""1, 2, 3, BATMAN! ....I'm just trying to end up in that movie. I REALLY wanna be in that movie 🤞," Corenswet states in the clip. Now, it would be believed that Corenswet is actively trying to pitch his way into "The Brave and the Bold," but he might also be campaigning to have a role in "The Batman 2." The issue with the latter would mean that Pattinson would end up being the DCU's Caped Crusader, which might confuse everyone. The safer bet could mean that Corenswet wants to be in the new "Batman" film that will fully belong to the DCU. Gunn has already begun to showcase his DCU in shows and movies. The Suicide Squad introduced the world to Amanda Waller, Bloodsport, Peacemaker, and more. Peacemaker has his own show, and the second season is set for release very soon. The "Creature Commandos" were also introduced in animated form, but the idea is that the voice actors will also play their live-action counterparts. "Superman" helped bring in Mister Terrific, Guy Gardner's Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl, and the upcoming "Lanterns" show is set to bring in Hal Jordan. Gunn is slowly but surely bringing in characters that are sure to intertwine in his grand universe. With many characters appearing in "Superman" that are guaranteed for other properties, it would not be shocking that Corenswet appears in the DCU "Batman" film. Considering the ties that Batman and Superman have in the comics, along with previous live-action iterations, the pair is surely going to be fighting side-by-side very soon. How soon has yet to be divulged. For more comics and movies, head to Newsweek Movies.

James Gunn's ‘Superman' Flies Home This Week
James Gunn's Superman was pushed out of the top five at the box office this past weekend, marking the beginning of the end of its box office run. It's been a good one, with over $330 million in the U.S. so far and another $250 million worldwide. It's the highest-grossing Superman film ever, domestically not adjusted for inflation, and now the journey takes its next step. Gunn took to social media Tuesday to announce his DC Universe film will be available on digital August 15. That's this week. It's also just about a month after the film hit theaters, which is both incredibly quick but also becoming more and more standard. The film, which is available for pre-order now, will cost $30 wherever you choose to download your movies legally. No official word on any specific special features as of publication, but The Wrap teases that there will be 'an hour-long making-of documentary, various featurettes, a commentary with James Gunn, a gag reel and some deleted scenes.' If we get the official list, we'll update this article. The trade also says the physical release is on September 23. The Prime Video version also teases a 'Bonus X-Ray Edition,' too, which sounds fun. As fans start to break down the film frame by frame, TikTok by TikTok, as often happens upon digital release, Gunn is already onto the next thing. He's writing a follow-up to Superman that's not exactly 'Superman 2,' but prominently features the character. His boss, the head of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, described it as 'the next installment in the Super-Family,' which either means Superman will team up with Supergirl, or it's some other general collection of superheroes. Whatever the case, the film is a ways off. Next up for Gunn's DC Universe is Peacemaker Season 2, which Gunn partially directed and wrote, and ties directly into Superman. Things then cool off for a few months leading into Supergirl, which is out summer 2026, followed by Clayface in October 2026. Also, the Lanterns TV show will be in there at some point too. Likely early next year. Are you going to drop the $30 to have Superman in your home? What are you most excited about rewatching? Tell us below. Want more io9 news?
