Felt pain of a retaliatory lawsuit: Blake Lively after judges dismisses Justin Baldoni's defamation case

Deccan Herald10-06-2025
Los Angeles: Hollywood actor Blake Lively has admitted to feeling "pain" of a retaliatory lawsuit by her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni and said she will continue her fight for every woman's right to protect themselves. On Monday, a US district judge dismissed Baldoni's $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively after she sued him for sexual harassment and retaliation. In a rare social media statement, Lively said women who speak up for their safety are often targeted by a retaliatory lawsuit.'Last week, I stood proudly alongside 19 organisations united in defending women's rights to speak up for their safety. Like so many others, I've felt the pain of a retaliatory lawsuit, including the manufactured shame that tries to break us. While the suit against me was defeated, so many don't have the resources to fight back,' Lively wrote on her Instagram Stories.'I'm more resolved than ever to continue to stand for every woman's right to have a voice in protecting themselves, including their safety, their integrity, their dignity and their story. There are protections out there. Check out some of the incredible organisations below for resources and information," she added.. In the post, Lively shared a list of 19 organisations that provide support and resources to help women stand up for their rights. On Monday, US District Court Judge Lewis Liman ruled that Baldoni can't sue Lively for defamation over claims she made in her lawsuit, because allegations made in a lawsuit are exempt from libel claims. Lively had sued Baldoni in late December, reported Associated Press.Liman also ruled that Baldoni's claims that Lively stole creative control of the film didn't count as extortion under California law. While Lively was accused in the lawsuit of threatening to refuse to promote the film, Wayfarer does 'not allege facts showing that Lively had an obligation to promote the film or to approve marketing materials,' Liman wrote.Baldoni's legal team can revise the lawsuit if they want to pursue different claims related to whether Lively breached a contract, the judge said.Liman also dismissed Baldoni's defamation lawsuit against The New York Times, which had reported on Lively's sexual harassment allegations.Baldoni, who had also directed It Ends With Us, is yet to comment on the latest development in his legal tussle with Lively.

Farah Khan slams fake Instagram account impersonating her cook Dilip: ‘You better take it down'

After becoming one of Bollywood's most beloved directors, Farah Khan is now ruling the vlogging space on YouTube. As her vlogs gain popularity among fans, so has her cook, Dilip, who regularly features in her videos. However, Farah recently took to Instagram to complain about a fake Instagram profile impersonating Dilip. According to the image shared by the Main Hoon Na director, the fake Instagram account had 57.9K followers and even mentioned Farah in the bio. The account had 244 posts and had shared several reels, each with over 100,000 views. Many of the videos posted on the page were repurposed clips taken from Farah's YouTube channel. The filmmaker-choreographer shared a screenshot of the fake profile on her Instagram Stories and warned the impersonator, stating, 'We are complaining. You better take it down.' Shortly after Farah Khan's warning, the account's username was quickly changed to A1 Blogger, and its display picture was also altered. All the posts on the account were removed. Recently, on her YouTube vlog, Farah Khan had revealed how she met Dilip. Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur appeared on her vlog to promote their film Son of Sardaar 2. While interacting with them, she recalled how she met Dilip outside Ajay's house over a decade ago. She revealed that Dilip's brother, Bholaa, was working as a chef at Ajay's house, and Dilip had developed a friendly bond with Ajay's mother. She said, 'You know how I found him? Oh my God! I have to tell you this story. He was outside your house. How could I forget this? Yeh aapke bungalow ke bahar ghoom raha tha, aur aapki mummy ne isse Son of Sardaar ki ticket di (He was loitering outside your house, and your mother gave him tickets for Son of Sardaar).' Dilip nodded excitedly and said, 'Mummy ke saath achi jaan-pehchan thi. Mera chhota bhai kaam karta tha, Bholaa (I shared a good bond with Ajay's mother, my younger brother used to work there).' Farah then asked Ajay to check with his mother if she remembers Dilip.

Nicole Kidman On Her ‘Insane' Bond With Sandra Bullock: ‘We're Having The Best Time'

Last Updated: Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock have an "insane" bond on Practical Magic 2 and are so close they feel "like sisters" in real life. Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock have an 'insane" bond on Practical Magic 2. The two actresses have reprised their roles as sister witches Gillian and Sally Owens in the sequel to the 1998 classic, and the Big Little Lies star admitted she and her pal are 'like sisters" in real life and love poking fun at one another. She told People magazine: '[Our dynamic is] insane. I can tease her, and she teases me," Kidman, 58, explains, noting, 'We're both living in London, very close to each other… 'I adore her and she is so funny and so lovable. And we're just having the best time together." The 58-year-old actress admitted she and Sandra are thrilled to be playing the characters again after a 27-year absence. She said: 'We're both like, 'What?' But we were just right back into it." And it isn't only Sandra that Nicole has enjoyed working with on the movie. She added: 'We have this wonderful female director, Susanne Bier. Warner Bros. is behind the film. And they've been incredibly supportive in making this, going back and then expanding it. 'And then we have beautiful Joey King, who I've worked with before and who's just lovely. So it's a group of amazing, amazing women and some great men who are creating the next phase, the next stage of the witches' life." Meanwhile, Evan Rachel Wood recently revealed she won't be reprising her role as Kylie, Sandra's on-screen daughter, in the sequel, despite having asked about being part of the project. She wrote on Instagram Stories: 'I am getting asked about this a lot, so l'll just clear it up now; I was not asked to come back and be in the Practical Magic sequel. l offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line. I was told they are recasting. I am sorry to disappoint the fans. It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters." Bullock and Nicole Kidman are reprising their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, who are descended from a long line of witches. Meanwhile, producer Denise Di Novi previously promised that fans will be 'very pleased" with the sequel, which will draw heavily from the source material – Alice Hoffman's 2021 novel The Book of Magic. She told Entertainment Weekly: 'I think (fans are) going to be very pleased. We're going to be very faithful. We're [aware of] how important those characters and that movie are to so many people. We're not going to reinvent the wheel. 'We're going to draw from Alice Hoffman's books, as the first movie did, and we're going to be true to the chronology of how many years later it is." Di Novi explained how the crew will 'be respectful to the characters, story, and locations" from the original picture. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
