VPTL 2025: Pagariya Strikers clinch commanding win over Nagpur Heriz
In the 13-over-per-side contest, after losing the toss and being put into bat first, Abhishek Agrawal and Siddhesh Wath opened the innings for Nagpur Heroz. Although Siddhesh made 14 in seven balls, Agrawal could only manage to add two in five balls.
Aman Mokhade top-scored for his side as he made 31 in 28 balls. With a contribution of 19 in 19 balls by skipper Mandar Kiran Mahale, Nagpur Heroz posted a score of 77/8 in 13 overs.
For Pagariya Strikers, Yash Kadam was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3-6 in two overs. Lalit Yadav took 2-24 in three overs. Dipesh Parwani(1-12) and Kaustabh Salve(1-22) grabbed one wicket each in the innings.
Chasing a score of 78 on the board, Dhruv Shorey and MD Faiz opened the innings for Pagariya Strikers. While Dhruv made 13 in 12 balls, Faiz could only manage to add three runs in seven balls. The unbeaten partnership of 58 runs for the third wicket helped the Pagariya Strikers to win the match. Aditya Ahuja remained unbeaten on 53* in 31 balls, assisted by Shivam Deshmukh(8 not out).
For Nagpur Heroz, Mandar Kiran Mahale(1-16) and Arjun Ingle(1-6) could only manage to pick one wicket each in the innings.
Earlier in the inaugural edition of the Pidarbha Pro T20 League, Orange Tigers defeated Nagpur Titans by eight wickets (D/L Method) at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Jamtha on Sunday. Bharat Rangers beat NECO Master Blaster by 23 runs in the second fixture of the Vidarbha Pro T20 League at the VCA Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur. Shubham Kapse's economical 3 for 21 won him the match of the match and Bharat Rangers their first points on the table.

In a huge development, wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma will represent Baroda in the upcoming 2025/26 domestic season after leaving Vidarbha. Jitesh, who played nine T20Is for India, had been in the process of making a move to Baroda for the last couple of weeks. Farokh Dastoor, CEO of the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA), confirmed to IANS on Wednesday that they have issued the NOC to Jitesh, who was an integral member of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team winning IPL 2025. 'Jitesh has enjoyed a close friendship with Krunal Pandya, his RCB teammate during the side's first IPL win in June. With him not having played Ranji Trophy last season and Pandya aiming to make a Baroda team which can win a domestic title in the upcoming season, it all came together for Jitesh to leave Vidarbha,' said sources aware of the development to IANS. The first murmurs of Jitesh leaving Vidarbha ahead of the domestic season came to light when he touched the pitch at VCA Stadium Nagpur and signalled 'it's over' with his hands in a post-match gesture caught by broadcasters DD Sports after leading his team Neco Master Blaster to winning the Vidarbha Pro T20 League final with a seven-wicket victory over Pagariya Strikers. In the last domestic season, Jitesh captained Vidarbha in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) competition and played under Karun Nair's leadership in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT). A move to Baroda means Jitesh will be able to play both white ball and red ball formats, where he's played only 18 first-class games since making his longer format debut in 2015/16. For RCB in IPL 2025, Jitesh played key knocks as a finisher, including hitting an unbeaten 85 in a must-win against Lucknow Super Giants and helping RCB finish in the top two of the points table. He also served as RCB's captain when Rajat Patidar suffered a finger injury towards the back end of the competition.

After opener Adhyayan Daga's 22 runs off 16 balls, Vedant Dighade and Aryan Meshram built a significant 90-run partnership. He got 11 innings and scored 261 runs at an average of 37.29 with a strike rate of 176.35 with a best of 85 not out off Lucknow Super Giants. At the mega auction he was bought by RCB at 11 crore rupees.

Chasing a target of 179, Vedant Dighade and Adhyan Daga started with a 35-run stand for the Master Blaster before Daga was dismissed for 22 off 16 balls. Aryam Meshram then joined Dighade, and the pair put on 90 runs together before the latter was dismissed for 42 off 26 balls. In came the in-form captain Jitesh at number five, smashing three sixes and a four with a strike-rate of 272.72 to apply the finishing touches. With six required off 14 balls, he stepped down and smacked spinner K Salve over the head to seal the victory and kick off the celebrations. Dighade remained unbeaten with 80 off 52 balls. As his teammates ran towards him, Jitesh gestured to them to run past and celebrate on their own, before nonchalantly trying to walk off. In the semi-final against Bharat Rangers, his team needed six runs to win on the last ball and he came on the winning side, ending with a 22-ball 46 to his name. That only added to his image of a brilliant finisher, having helped RCB win the IPL 2025 title with multiple such knocks, including a stellar 85* against Lucknow Super Giants and a 24 in the final.
