Escape to the Country's Jules Hudson shares exciting career move away from BBC show
Escape to the Country presenter Jules Hudson has been flooded with support as he took to social media to share some significant career developments.
The beloved BBC host announced on Instagram that he's embarking on an exciting new venture, starring in Channel 5's upcoming series Coastal Adventures alongside Helen Skelton and JB Gill, reports the Express.
The show kicked off on 15th July, with viewers already able to stream the first episode. Jules shared a sneak peek trailer on his Instagram, writing: "Ahoy there! ! For much of this year, myself and my wonderful chums Helen Skelton and JB Gill have been out and about exploring our magical coastlines for our BRAND NEW 8-part series, Coastal Adventures with Helen, Jules and JB.
"Starts [July 15] at 8pm on @channel5_tv. We'd love love love you to join us and share our maritime mischief!"
The announcement was met with enthusiasm from fans in the comments section, with one expressing: "Aww, one of my dreams Jules! Visit UK and the amazing countryside and the coastlines. I will try to watch it here in Australia."
Another fan commented: "Brilliant... really looking forward to it." A third inquired: "Is this on BritBox? We're in Michigan and watch every Escape - but would love to catch your coastline show. Please tell us how!"
Helen also spread the word on her own Instagram, posting: "Filmed a new series earlier this year... It's a celebration of the British coastline and hopefully will give you some ideas of places to explore close to home.
"Grateful to be working with such a top time. It's on [July 15] 8pm, expect some coastal spam!"
The opening episode witnesses Helen plunging 4,500 feet down Britain's most profound mine, whilst JB discovers the peculiar splendour of Dungeness. Meanwhile, Jules makes his way to Devon to embark from Salcombe.
It appears as though the TV star is not slowing down any time soon as he also continues to film for Escape to the Country.
He recently told his followers that he would be househunting somewhere the show had never been to before.
"Well folks, I'm shooting another episode of Escape to the Country this week, but I am SO excited to be somewhere the show has never ever been before," he said.
"If you look at that coastline behind me you could be forgiven for thinking you were perhaps in Cornwall or North Devon or even Pembrokeshire, but here's the rub.
"Look over there, that is Port Erin, and if you know your geography of the British Isles, hopefully, that means you will appreciate we are on the Isle of Man.
"I've never been here before, nor has Escape to the Country, but we are relishing the opportunity to explore somewhere which certainly, for me and for many of us, is new."
You can watch Coastal Adventures on Channel 5 and Escape to the Country is also available to stream on BBC iPlayer

Astronomer issues statement after CEO Andy Byron caught in Coldplay kiss cam scandal
Astronomer has issued a statement after the company's CEO was caught on camera embracing a colleague at a Coldplay concert, in an awkward moment which has gone viral on social media. Andy Byron, head of the data infrastructure company Astronomer, was spotted cuddling a woman, identified as his colleague and Chief People Officer Kirstin Cabot, at the British pop-rock group's gig in Boston on Wednesday. When they saw themselves on the big screen, the pair quickly separated and attempted to hide their faces, with Byron ducking down and the woman turning her back to the camera. "Whoa, look at these two,' Coldplay singer Chris Martin said. 'Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy." In another clip circulating social media, the musician can be heard saying: "Did we rumble you? Holy s***. I hope we didn't do something bad." The moment quickly went viral on social media, leading many to speculate on Byron's relationship status, while the CEO's wife reportedly removed the Byron surname from her Facebook account before later deleting it. Astronomer has now issued a statement saying they were investigating the incident. In a post on LinkedIn, they said: "Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability. "The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter, and we will have additional details to share very shortly." They also said a third woman in the video, who was seen looking slightly embarrassed by the gaffe, was not an Astronomer employee as some on social media had speculated. Astonomer has seen rapid growth since Byron became CEO in 2023, and the firm is now valued at over $1bn (£750m).

Felix Baumgartner reportedly suffered mid-air heart attack before paraglider crash
The daredevil known for jumping from the edge of space is thought to have died after suffering a cardiac arrest Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner, famed for his 2012 jump from the edge of space, is believed to have tragically died following a mid-air cardiac arrest while paragliding in Italy. The 56-year-old sportsman passed away around 4pm on Thursday, July 17, with local reports indicating his craft landed in a swimming pool at a holiday resort in Porto Sant'Elpidio, Fermo, injuring a hotel employee on the ground. It's understood that Felix reported feeling unwell while airborne, subsequently losing control of his paraglider. The woman struck by his paraglider was swiftly taken to hospital, but her condition is not considered serious. According to Repubblica, the swimming pool was bustling with children at the time of the incident, who were sadly witness to the sports star's untimely death. Italian local media suggest Baumgartner suffered a cardiac arrest mid-flight, as reported by MailOnline. Baumgartner had launched from Fermo, but lost control of the powered hang glider while flying over the coast, for reasons yet to be determined. Following the crash, he lost consciousness and went into cardiac arrest, reports the Mirror. Emergency services called for an air ambulance to transport him to Torrette Hospital in Ancona, but Felix was declared dead at the scene. Just hours prior to the tragic incident, Felix shared footage on his Instagram account depicting him paragliding in loops above a meadow, completely oblivious to the devastating events that would soon unfold. He had also uploaded an image of an airstrip accompanied by the words: "Too much wind." Felix Baumgartner gained worldwide recognition in 2012 following his successful record-shattering leap from the stratosphere at an altitude of 24 miles (128,100ft). His remarkable descent from the 'brink of space' whilst wearing a pressure suit took approximately 10 minutes, making him the first person to surpass the sound barrier during free fall. However, his extraordinary journey began much earlier, after he took up skydiving at merely 16 years of age. From 1988, he forged a partnership with Red Bull, and throughout the 1990s, he ventured into base jumping, establishing numerous records including 14 world achievements. By 2003, he had also claimed the distinction of being the first person to soar across the English Channel wearing a wingsuit. The town's mayor, Massimiliano Ciarpella, announced Baumgartner's passing via social media, stating: "Our community is deeply affected by the tragic disappearance of Felix Baumgartner, a figure of global prominence, a symbol of courage and passion for extreme flight." Heartbreakingly, mere days beforehand, Felix had posted a photograph taken almost precisely above the location where he perished in his motorised paraglider. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! On Saturday, July 12, he had written: "Flying holiday greetings from Fermo Italy. Where are you vacationing this year?" Felix Baumgartner achieved global recognition in 2012 when he successfully executed a record-breaking jump from the stratosphere, a staggering height of 24 miles. His descent from the 'edge of space' spanned approximately 10 minutes. The Stratos jump was sponsored by Red Bull, and became the centrepiece of a significant advertising campaign by the energy drink company.
