Delhi-NCR witnessed light rainfall on the morning of July 6, in line with the Regional Meteorological Department's forecast. According to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) forecast, amidst the yellow alert, Delhi is to experience thunderstorm and lightning today. In a press release on July 5, IMD Delhi stated, 'Generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain accompanied with thunderstorm/lightning likely to occur over Delhi during next 2 days.'
In a post on X (formerly twitter) the Regional Meteorological Centre issued a nowcast warning at 11.30 AM stating, 'Light to moderate rainfall accompanied with light thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur at Karnal (Haryana) Gangoh, Shamli, Baraut, Bagpat, Khekra (U.P.).'
The post by RMC further highlights the possibility of light rainfall expected in several parts of Delhi in the next two hours. The areas to expect rainfall are Mundaka, Pashchim Vihar, Rajauri Garden, Budha Jayanti Park, Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad and Greater Noida.

According to IMD's reports, Himachal Pradesh and adjoining Punjab might face an upper air cyclonic circulations at 1.5 km above mean sea level.
A red alert warning has been issued for Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra by the weather agency for expecting extremely heavy rainfalls on July 6.
Nine states have made it to the IMD's orange alert list including Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
'Extremely heavy rainfall (≥21 cm) very likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh on 06th July' stated IMD adding, 'Extremely heavy rainfall (≥21 cm) very likely at isolated places over Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 06th & 07th July.'

Delhi air remains cleanest for 11 days in a row; rain predicted on Monday
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi remained in the 'satisfactory' category for the 11th consecutive day on Sunday, the cleanest spell recorded so far this year. The AQI was recorded at 76 at 4 pm on Sunday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). It has remained below 100 throughout the last 11 days, after plunging from 134 (moderate category) on June 25 to 94 (satisfactory) on June 26. According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor', and 401 to 500 'severe'. The national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius on Sunday, which is 0.5 degrees above the season's average. The minimum temperature was at 28.8 degrees Celsius, while the relative humidity stood at 83 per cent at 5.30 pm. Meanwhile, most parts of the city recorded below-normal maximum temperatures on Sunday. Safdarjung, the city's base weather station, recorded 35 degrees Celsius, while Palam was relatively cooler at 33.5 degrees Celsius, 3.9 degrees below normal and a three-degree drop from the previous day, the IMD report said. Minimum temperatures remained close to normal, with Safdarjung logging 28.8 degrees Celsius. Night temperatures showed slight variations across locations but remained within the seasonal range. As for rainfall, moderate showers were reported in several parts of the city since Saturday. Ayanagar recorded the highest rainfall at 11.7 mm in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday. Palam received 20.9 mm rain, Lodi Road 1.5 mm, and Safdarjung 0.8 mm. The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for Monday, predicting light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively, it said.

Japan's weather agency on Sunday issued heatstroke alerts in 19 prefectures, including this season's first for central Tokyo and Kanagawa, as dangerously high temperatures gripped much of the country. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said a high-pressure system is likely to cover western Japan and elsewhere, bringing mostly sunny and hot weather on Sunday. Daytime highs in the mid-to high-30s were logged nationwide, including 38.3 degrees Celsius in Kuwana, Mie Prefecture, 37.9 degrees Celsius in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, and 37.7 degrees Celsius in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture and Kofu, Yamanashi Prefecture, the JMA said. Weather officials advised people to use air conditioners as needed, take liquids and salt, and rest frequently when working outside, reported Xinhua news agency. According to the Tokyo Fire Department, as of 3 p.m. local time on Sunday, 28 people aged between 9 and 89 in the capital had been taken to the hospital by ambulance for suspected symptoms of heatstroke. The JMA said dangerously hot weather is also expected on Monday, urging people to continue to take thorough measures to prevent heatstroke. Japan experienced its hottest June ever since record-keeping began in 1898, with the average monthly temperature being 2.34 degrees Celsius higher than the standard value, according to JMA data.
