Queen Rocks Again As Three Albums Return To The Charts
Queen continues to dominate the U.K. charts as Greatest Hits, The Platinum Collection, and the ... Queen is one of those bands that can't be stopped — not by time, trends, or even the current generation of pop stars dominating the conversation. While many of today's biggest names come and go on the charts, Queen remains a mainstay in the United Kingdom, thanks to a catalog filled with legendary hits that continue to sell and stream well. This frame, the group returns to the spotlight in a bigger way than usual, as three of its albums find their way back to various charts throughout the country.
Of the three albums from the group that come back this time around, Greatest Hits is the only one to reappear on more than one sales-focused tally. The ever-popular compilation returns to the Official Physical Albums chart at No. 92 and the Official Albums Sales ranking at No. 94. These two lists are based entirely on purchases, including CDs, vinyl, and digital downloads, when looking at the latter roster
As it rebounds, Greatest Hits doubles the number of charts it's present on in the U.K. this week. Alongside its re-entries on the two aforementioned sales rankings, the best-of collection holds steady at No. 42 on the Official Albums chart, which ranks the 100 most-consumed projects in the nation. That's an impressive placement for a set that has now spent 1,146 frames on the tally.
Streaming-wise, Queen continues to perform well too. Greatest Hits dips slightly, but still lives inside the top 40 on the Official Albums Streaming chart, landing at No. 36.
The success of the Bohemian Rhapsody movie introduced Queen's music to an entirely new audience, and brought longtime fans back in droves. The film's soundtrack, which features many of the group's most iconic recordings, returns to the Official Soundtrack Albums chart this week at No. 49.
Not content with just one greatest hits package charting, Queen also sees The Platinum Collection return to a separate tally. The expansive compilation re-enters the Official Album Downloads chart at No. 83. That ranking tracks the bestselling digital full-lengths in the U.K. via sites like iTunes.
Each of the three titles currently placing on U.K. charts this frame — Greatest Hits, the Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack, and The Platinum Collection — has peaked inside the top five on every list it appears on. Among the bunch, Greatest Hits stands as the biggest success, having hit No. 1 on the Official Albums, Official Albums Sales, and Official Physical Albums charts. The only list it hasn't conquered (yet) is the Official Albums Streaming ranking, but considering Queen's continued popularity, that could still happen down the line.

Prince Harry has been open about the continuing rift between himself and other members of the British royal family, including his father, King Charles, and older brother, Prince William. Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, moved to California in 2020 and issues over visiting the U.K. have arisen in relation to security concerns. This week, a source tells People that the couple has different perspectives on how to move forward. 'They're aware of everything going on in England, but they're being left out of the details—there's clearly no trust,' said the insider, adding that Meghan is 'focused on the future,' and 'is very business about it.' She remains firmly supportive of her husband, however, despite his own tendency to dwell on the widening gulf. But the Duchess of Sussex 'wishes her husband could feel less burdened by the past and more present in the life they've built together.' Charles has been receiving regular cancer treatments and is allegedly struggling with the idea of reconciliation. 'It's been difficult for him to even get proper updates about his dad,' the source explained. Harry has been requesting for years to have automatic police protection applied to his entire family so they can visit the country again, a privilege applied to working members of the royal family. They lost their appeal on the matter in April of this year. Charles and William's hesitation towards reconciliation is supposedly about 'trust' and the belief that heir interactions with the Sussexes may not remain private. The couple has shared intimate details of their lives in their popular Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan and in Harry's memoir Spare, as well as a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey. In a 2023 interview with The Daily Telegraph, Harry admitted he actually removed anecdotes from Spare after considering how it might divide him from his father and brother. 'The first draft was different,' he said. 'It was 800 pages, and now it's down to 400 pages. It could have been two books, put it that way. And the hard bit was taking things out.' And there were some things he didn't 'want the world to know.' 'I don't think they would ever forgive me,' Harry added. 'This is not about trying to collapse the monarchy, this is about trying to save them from themselves.'

Naperville's India Day Festival reduced to parade only due to security requirements
The annual India Day Festival & Concert, which for years has brought large crowds to Naperville, will be scaled back this year, organizers have announced. Usually a day-long affair featuring live entertainment and a cultural festival at Naperville's Rotary Hill, the free event will be reduced to only a parade when held Aug. 10, organizers said in a Facebook post. The decision to curtail festivities was attributed to heightened costs and reduced funding, the post said. Presented by Indian Community Outreach, the festival commemorates Aug. 15, 1947, the day India won its freedom from British rule. Launched in 2015, the event has grown into one of the largest Indian American festivals of its kind across the country, according to Krishna Bansal, event founder and organizer. Cost increases were partly the result of new city-mandated security requirements, Bansal said. Namely, requirements mandating the use of fencing around the perimeter of the event and metal detectors at controlled entry and exit points and dictating that attendees could bring only clear bags onto the grounds, he said. Implementing those rules would have taken a 'mammoth amount of effort,' Bansal said. '(It would) take a huge amount of resources as well as cost to do that.' Sponsors primarily fund the festival, he said. Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres said the security requirements aren't really new. Rather, they're 'something we've really been pushing towards for the past few years and are finally getting traction,' he said. It's a matter of public safety, Arres said. 'Outdoor events are big, big targets for those looking to do bad things,' he said, 'and they're increasingly vulnerable to mass violence. … (These recommendations) keep these events safe and actually can deter threats before they can occur.' They're also in line with what other large-scale events in town — Last Fling and Halal Fest, for instance — have been doing for a number of years, Arres said. 'We're not asking them (to do) anything different than any other progressive agencies and cities are doing because these are the best practices for these big-scale events,' he said. Asked if Indian Community Outreach plans to bring back the event in full in the future, Bansal said, 'We are not looking to cancel the event.' It's just a matter of how and where it will move forward, he said. They want to continue holding the event in Naperville but if doing so isn't feasible, 'we'll have to look around and see where we can do this effectively,' he said. 'This event is immensely popular,' he said. 'People want to have this event. We will continue with what we have built.' Changes to the festival follow last month's announcement that there would be no Naperville Salute this summer. The annual Fourth of July celebration, also held at Rotary Hill, was canceled to preserve the long-term health of both the event and the charitage organization behind it, organizers said. It was scheduled to take place from June 27-29 but now only the Naperville Responds for Veterans Ruck March will be held. Both cancellations come in the wake of Naperville Ribfest, another of the city's longstanding summer celebrations, permanently ending last year. tkenny@
