Who is Assamese actor Nandini Kashyap, who was arrested for allegedly killing a 21-year-old in a hit-and-run case?
According to news agency PTI, CCTV footage of the accident showed that not only was she speeding at the time, but did not even stop to check on the victim. Eyewitnesses claimed that she fled the scene immediately. She was, however, chased down and confronted by Samiul Haque's friends.
Renowned for her lead role as Surabhi in director Roopak Gogoi's recent box office hit Rudra, Nandini Kashyap is also a prominent figure on social media, with over 52.5K followers on Instagram. According to her Facebook handle, she has been working in the film industry since 2018 as an actor, anchor, model and dancer. Belonging to Guwahati itself, she also goes by the name Nikita. After completing her basic education at Faculty Higher Secondary School, Amingaon, in her native place of Guwahati, she pursued a bachelor's degree at the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya, located at Khanapara. She graduated from the university in 2021.
Since 2018, she has been in the public domain and has appeared in a few music videos. However, it was in 2022 that she made her film debut, playing the lead role in the Assamese movie Janaknandini, helmed by her mother Kunjalta Gogoi Das. Also starring Gunjan Bhardwaj, Nrityacharjya Jatin Goswami, Arun Nath, Madhurima Choudhary, Ranjeev Lal Baruah and Rupam Baruh, Janaknandini was produced by Nandinee's parents, director Kunjalata Gogoi Das and husband Rinku Das, themselves.
Earlier this year, Nandini Kashyap's career took off as Rudra emerged as a box office success. Also featuring Ravi Sharma, Adil Hussain, Joy Kashyap and Arrchita Agarwaal in key roles, the movie was penned by director Roopak Gogoi. Rudra hit the screens on June 27.
Although Nandini is currently in police custody, it is reported that this is not her first involvement in a vehicular offence, the difference this time being that it tragically resulted in the loss of a life. 'Kashyap's vehicle was penalised several times for speeding and many challans were issued in different districts,' Guwahati Police Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) Jayanta Sarathi Borah told PTI.

A birthday changed everything Shivani Relia (28), from Delhi, never expected her solo birthday trip to Udaipur in 2021 to lead to a lifelong friendship. 'Some friendships just feel easy from the start,' Shivani adds. Work trip turned to family Pamela Gupta (25) and Tejashee Kashyap (27), both from Delhi, worked in the same industry, but their paths only crossed during a work trip to Egypt. 'It started as the usual work dynamic, but it felt like we had known each other for years. We clicked instantly and began travelling together soon after,' recalls Pamela. Four countries later, their bond has only grown stronger. They've found a rhythm despite their contrasting personalities. 'We may not agree on everything, but that's the beauty of this friendship; we hold space for each other,' Pamela reflects. Today, even their mothers are close friends. She adds, We can't go a day without checking in. We're practically family now.'

Expectations were high from the remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, and the film managed to open to mostly positive reviews. Dhadak 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2018 Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Dhadak. As per Sacnilk, the film has now crossed the ₹10 crore mark. The film had collected ₹ 3.5 crore on its opening day, and showed little growth on its second day of release, collecting ₹ 3.75 crore. The overall collection now stands at ₹ 11.02 crore. Dhadak 2 is facing stiff competition at the box office from several releases—Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2, the animation film Mahavatar Narsimha, Ahaan Panday-Aneet Padda's Saiyaara, and Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom. Saiyaara, now in its third week of release, collected more than Dhadak 2 on Sunday, with ₹8 crore. Saiyaara has now crossed the ₹300 crore mark in India and emerged as a blockbuster. That's why they have been very quiet about everything, like while we were shooting for the film, even the censor board issues, we never spoke about anything.'

Two arrested for robbing small finance bank in Odisha
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Bhadrak, Aug 3 (PTI) The police on Sunday arrested two persons, including a former employee, for their alleged involvement in the armed robbery of a small finance bank in Odisha's Bhadrak district, police said. Four masked men stormed into the bank on June 11 and looted Rs 7.54 lakh at gunpoint. Following the incident, bank officials lodged a complaint at Tihidi Police Station, prompting an investigation. During the course of the probe, police recovered Rs 2,000 in cash, four mobile phones, and one vehicle used in the crime.
