Keshav Upadhye, a young, dynamic and prominent face, has been working with the Bharatiya Janata Party for over two decades. In 2014, the then state president Devendra Fadnavis had appointed Upadhye as the spokesperson in his team. Owing to his journalistic background and better understanding of the socio-economic issues of the state, Upadhye made a mark as a spokesperson in a short span. He articulates the views of the party and aggressively defends the party on various platforms including the Marathi and Hindi national news channels. Keshav Upadhye worked for the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and after completing his degree in Journalism from Ranade Institute, Pune, he began his career as a journalist with daily Pudhari, Loksatta and Mumbai Tarun Bharat. Knowing the pulse of the news, he writes on varied topics and on various platforms like the newspapers, blogs and other social media platforms. He was involved in two study groups formed by the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini in 2006 to study the naxalite movement and its adverse impact on the development of Chhatisgarh. After the Operation Sindoor carried out by the Indian Armed Forces in response to the attack on the innocent Hindu tourists in Pahalgam, many developments took place rapidly at the international level. This operation instilled the confidence that India can demonstrate the power to change the entire landscape of international politics. The attack in Pahalgam was perpetrated by the forces that nurture terrorism in Pakistan.
Therefore, it is very important to give a befitting response at the military level as well as at the diplomatic level to teach a lesson to the rulers of Pakistan. The operation against Pakistan was a phenomenal success. Due to this, Pakistan had to kneel down for a ceasefire. At the same time, there was a request to reconsider the decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty. The American media as well as defence experts have also given detailed information about the losses suffered by Pakistan in the operation carried out by the Indian Armed Forces. The Indian Air Force inflicted significant damage to six Pakistani air bases by penetrating Pakistan's air defense system. As usual, Pakistan made false claims to cover its losses. These false claims could not deceive the people of Pakistan either.
In the press conferences, the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Armed Forces gave detailed evidence of how Pakistan suffered losses in the operations carried out under Operation Sindoor. Pakistan could not counter the irrefutable evidence of the Indian Armed Forces. Against this background, Tiranga Yatras were enthusiastically organised in the country to salute the achievements of the Indian Armed Forces. While on one hand the unprecedented performance of the Indian Armed Forces was being praised, on the other hand, the main opposition party, Congress, tried to bring petty politics into this issue.
Rahul Gandhi, who is leading the opposition in the Lok Sabha, made a statement that befits the ruling party in Pakistan. Rahul Gandhi publicly asked the question, 'How many Indian aircrafts were shot down in Operation Sindoor?', raising doubts about the performance of the Indian Armed Forces. Satellite images of how terrorist bases in Pakistan were significantly damaged were broadcast in the Indian Armed Forces' press conferences.
The Pakistan Army had claimed to have shot down an Indian fighter jet. And when a journalist asked for evidence of this, the Pakistani Prime Minister showed how bankrupt his intellect has become by replying, 'There is a lot of evidence available on social media that we shot down an Indian plane.' Rather than knowing how many terrorist camps were destroyed in Pakistan, how many Pakistani air bases were damaged, why Rahul Gandhi chose to show interest in asking about the losses suffered by the Indian Armed Forces is a question only Rahul Gandhi can answer himself.
Instead of celebrating the performance of the Armed Forces and by asking questions like how much the Indian Armed Forces suffered, Rahul Gandhi demonstrated just how low the mentality of opposition in politics can go. Such questions can be asked to the Armed Forces Chiefs in person, but Rahul Gandhi has the tendency to repeatedly show that he lacks such maturity and vision in politics- What can one do about that? In 1971, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi decided to send a delegation of leaders from various parties in India to inform other countries about why India supported the Bangladesh Mukti Bahini during the Bangladesh liberation war. Mrs. Indira Gandhi had entrusted the leadership of this delegation to the then Jana Sangh group leader in the Lok Sabha, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
During the 1971 war, all the opposition parties, including the Jana Sangh, had given unquestioning support to the central government. At that time, the US President Richard Nixon had made statements supporting Pakistan. The Jana Sangh and the independent parties decided to put aside their anti-Congress stance and stand united with the Indira Gandhi government. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in his speech in the Lok Sabha, strongly condemned the statement of the then US President Nixon and assured the entire country that the Jana Sangh was firmly standing behind the Indira Gandhi government.
The opposition parties are standing behind the government to confront the menace of terrorism in the country. To make this known to the world, Rahul Gandhi, who is the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, was expected to keep politics aside and make statements supporting the government and the army. Rahul Gandhi could not fulfill even this minimum expectation.
Seeing the supreme leader of his party making such statements, mouthpieces like Vijay Wadettiwar felt encouraged. Wadettiwar openly said that the photographic evidence presented by the Indian Armed Forces while giving information about Operation Sindoor was fake. Wadettiwar was heavily criticized on social media for this statement. Still, Wadettiwar did not apologize to the Armed Forces.
The national and state leadership of the Congress did not ask Wadettiwar for an explanation for such a statement. The national leadership of the Congress must have expected such a statement from its regional leadership. The central government decided to dispatch delegations to various countries to share India's stance against terrorism and the rationale behind Operation Sindoor. The leadership of this delegation was entrusted to senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor. Even with that, the Congress showed what kind of attitude it has. The Congress leadership is not even aware that they are directly taking an anti-national stance by opposing the Modi government.

After Op Sindoor setback, Pakistan to form China-inspired military rocket force targeted at India

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the creation of the new command late Wednesday at a ceremony in Islamabad. 'It will be equipped with modern technology,' Sharif said in a statement, adding that the force will prove to be a milestone in strengthening the combat capability of Pakistan's army. The ARFC is meant to be a dedicated force for conventional missile and rocket systems, and will include not just cruise missiles and rockets, but also conventional ballistic missiles and Pakistan's planned hypersonic missiles. New Delhi: Pakistan, which found its long range strike capabilities hollow in the face of India's Operation Sindoor, has decided to set up a new Army Rocket Force Command (ARFC), on the lines of China's force. On the eve of its independence day, Pakistan also showcased the Fatah IV, part of the Fatah weapon system family of Pakistan. The new missile—earlier versions of which were used by Pakistan against India amid the military hostilities between 7 May and 10 May—has a range of 700 kilometres, it is claimed. A senior Pakistan security official told Reuters that the new force will house a dedicated command, which will be exclusive to the handling and deployment of missiles in any event of a conventional war. 'It is obvious that it is meant for India,' the official was quoted as saying. Sources in the Indian defence and security establishment told ThePrint that following Op Sindoor, they had understood that Pakistan will now focus majorly on long range strike capabilities besides air defence. They said that contrary to what Pakistan has claimed, none of their missiles, including the Fatah series, were able to do any significant damage, and most of them were shot down by Indian air defence systems. Sources further said that Pakistan is setting up the new command to ensure decentralised deployment and focused modernisation. 'During Op Sindoor, Indian forces fought like an integrated unit which also involved quick moving of logistics and India's long range vectors. Pakistan now wants to create a centralised command, which will then try and overwhelm India's air defence in a coordinated manner, just like India did,' a source explained. The sources added that it is unlikely that the nuclear weapons would also come under the new command. It is felt that they will remain under the Strategic Forces Command, unlike in the case of China. India is also planning a rocket force of its own, something that former Chief of Defence Staff Late General Bipin Rawat was keen on. This was being done to counter China's rocket force. China's rocket force, established in 2015 as part of President Xi Jinping's military overhaul, has been at the centre of the latest anti-corruption campaign targeting the military. Gen Li Shangfu, who earlier headed the rocket force and was then promoted as the defence minister by Xi, was summarily sacked for alleged corruption. His successor, Gen Li Yuchao, who assumed the role of its commander in 2022, was also removed following graft charges. In July 2024, China's Communist Party announced the anti-corruption investigation against Gen Sun Jinming, who headed the rocket force. At least seven past or serving senior military officials from the rocket force of People's Liberation Army have faced anti-corruption probes since 2023. Gen Wei Fenghe, who headed the force from its inception until 2017, and then served as the country's defence minister from 2018 to 2023, was also expelled from the party for alleged corruption. ‘Any misadventure will have painful consequences,' India warns Pakistan, dismisses Indus treaty ruling

India on Thursday responded to Pakistan's repeated anti-India rhetoric, accusing Islamabad's leadership of 'reckless, war-mongering and hateful comments' to distract from their failures and warning that 'any misadventure will have painful consequences, as was demonstrated recently,' in a likely reference to Operation Sindoor. India had launched the military operation targeting terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack where terrorists killed 26 civilians. Addressing a press conference Thursday, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said: 'We have seen reports regarding a continuing pattern of reckless, war-mongering and hateful comments from Pakistani leadership against India. It is a well-known modus operandi of the Pakistani leadership to whip up anti-India rhetoric time and again to hide their own failures. Pakistan would be well-advised to temper its rhetoric, as any misadventure will have painful consequences, as was demonstrated recently.' — Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) August 14, 2025 According to a PTI report, Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir reportedly made the nuclear threat during an address to the Pakistani diaspora in Florida's Tampa on Saturday. 'We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we'll take half the world down with us,' media reports quoted him as saying. There is no text of the speech or a video to confirm these comments. Responding to another question regarding the award by the Court of Arbitration under the Indus Water Treaty, Jaiswal said that the International Court of Arbitration lacks any 'legal authority' to make pronouncements on the Indus Waters Treaty between India and Pakistan as New Delhi has never recognised the legitimacy of the court. 'India has never accepted the legality, legitimacy, or competence of the so-called Court of Arbitration. Its pronouncements are, therefore, without jurisdiction, devoid of legal standing, and have no bearing on India's rights to utilise the waters,' he said. As per a report by Reuters, a ruling from the Court of Arbitration last week backed Pakistan by saying that India must adhere to the Indus Waters Treaty in the design of new hydro-electric power stations on rivers that flow west into Pakistan. VIDEO | Delhi: Responding to a question regarding the award by the Court of Arbitration under the Indus Water Treaty, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal says, 'India has never accepted the legality, legitimacy, or competence of the so-called Court of Arbitration. Its pronouncements… — Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) August 14, 2025 'India also categorically rejects Pakistan's selective and misleading references to the so-called 'award.' As reiterated in our press release dated 27 June 2025, the Indus Waters Treaty remains in abeyance by a sovereign decision of the Government of India, taken in response to Pakistan's continued sponsorship of cross-border terrorism, including the barbaric Pahalgam attack,' Jaiswal said.
