By: Esther Glorie Leow Text Size: The billboard in New York. Kota Kinabalu: Marsha Milan, a singer and actress, has become the first Sabahan to be featured on the iconic digital billboard in Times Square, New York. Her appearance was part of Spotify's Equal campaign, which spotlights women artists from around the globe. Marsha's image lit up one of the world's busiest intersections, marking a significant milestone not only in her career but also for Sabah's representation in the global music scene. 'It's surreal. To see a Sabahan name and face in Times Square feels bigger than me — it represents a whole community, a culture, and a dream I've carried with me for years. I'm deeply touched and honoured,' she told Daily Express on Monday. Marsha, known for her powerhouse vocals and emotional performances, recently won hearts and headlines by clinching the top spot at Anugerah Juara Lagu 39 (AJL39) with her song 'Hening Rindu'. I was blacklisted from Sabah last week, now banned from leaving Malaysia: Fahmi Reza

Published on: Saturday, June 07, 2025 Published on: Sat, Jun 07, 2025 By: Malay Mail Text Size: Fahmi shared on social media that he arrived at KLIA2 for a short two-day trip to a concert in Singapore. - Pic via Fahmi Reza | Facebook Graphic artist and political activist Fahmi Reza said he was stopped from boarding a flight to Singapore today after being informed he was blacklisted from travelling overseas — the second such travel restriction imposed on him in just over two weeks. In a statement posted on his social media, Fahmi recounted arriving at KLIA2 at around 7.30am to catch a 9.35am flight for a short two-day trip to attend a concert featuring South Korean band Slant and Singaporean act Sial. Advertisement But at the international departure counter, Immigration officers told him he had been flagged and needed to wait at their office. 'I was asked to wait while they checked with TCO (Travel Control Office/Order). Then they took my passport and IC for photocopying. They also wanted printed copies of my boarding pass and e-ticket, even though I had them on my phone,' he wrote, adding that with only 10 minutes left before boarding, an airport staff member helped him get the documents printed at a hotel nearby. When he returned to Immigration with the documents, Fahmi said an officer told him, 'Bukit Aman has not given clearance for you to leave the country.' He said no explanation was provided and he was escorted out of the departure area. Advertisement Fahmi is well known for his satirical illustrations that often critique political leaders and institutions. He believes the ban is linked to his artwork criticising the recent appointment of former Sabah chief minister Tun Musa Aman as the state's new Yang di-Pertua Negeri. Just weeks earlier, on May 29, the Sabah Immigration Department had denied Fahmi entry into the state under Section 65(1)(a) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. He said he was flown back to Kuala Lumpur the same day without further explanation. That incident followed his earlier arrest by Sabah police in February this year over another satirical post. Authorities had opened investigations under the Sedition Act for allegedly insulting the royal institution. 'Last week I was blacklisted from entering Sabah. This week, I'm blacklisted from leaving the country,' he wrote. 'My only 'offence' was creating critical artwork.' * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? House For Sail: Sabahan Woman Floats Her Entire House To Another Kampung

Subscribe to our FREE When we talk about moving to another place to live, it usually means selling off the old house, packing our belongings, and then move to a newly purchased home somewhere else. However, one Sabahan woman took 'moving house' quite literally. Through a viral video shared on TikTok, user @siah0004 documented her method and journey in moving her entire house, with the help of some locals, in Kampung Terusan, Semporna, by placing it on small motor boats and floating the structure a few kilometers north to Kampung Balimbang. Simpan sini sebagai kenangan rumah # sister Pindah kg Terusan To balimbang 😍 lagu jiwang dulu kita🤣 Many were fascinated by how she managed to pull this off, and asked many questions about the entire process. One user on TikTok asked whether if the furniture remained in the house while it was being transported. The owner of the house said all the furniture remained in place while the pink home was floating to its new destination. Meanwhile, many also asked her to share a video of the house once it has reached its new destination. The woman obliged and uploaded a second video on her TikTok account showing her home safely sitting on stilts at its new location. Those who watched the unconventional house-moving process also shared some hilarious comments, such as how confusing it would be for couriers when they send a parcel to her address, only to find that the entire house is not there anymore. 'If I could move my house like this, I'd move every week,' one user commented. Another user said 'The neighbours will be confused. In the morning there was a house there, and in the afternoon it's gone'. Share your thoughts with us via TRP's . Get more stories like this to your inbox by signing up for our newsletter.

Crocker Range Festival set to return June 26

Published on: Thursday, June 05, 2025 Published on: Thu, Jun 05, 2025 Text Size: Festival organising chairman Rafie Robert said the initiative aims to provide a free and inclusive experience for all visitors, strengthening intergenerational ties and community spirit. KENINGAU: The Crocker Range Festival (TCRF) is set to return for its 8th season with a vibrant four-day celebration from June 26 to 29 at Dataran Keningau, featuring a dynamic mix of cultural showcases and community programmes. The event is expected to draw both local and national attention, especially from tourists and culture enthusiasts, with its focus on celebrating the rich ethnic heritage of Sabah's interior. Advertisement This year's festival will include traditional performances, craft competitions, ethnic sports, and highlight programmes such as the popular Miss & Mister Crocker Range pageant and an exhibition of local products. New to this year's edition are three added components – the Sabah Cultural Fiesta, Keningau Youth Fiesta, and Kids Fiesta. Festival organising chairman Rafie Robert said the initiative aims to provide a free and inclusive experience for all visitors, strengthening intergenerational ties and community spirit. 'An exclusive performance by two acclaimed local ethnic artistes, Alena Murang and Belle Sisoski, is set to be one of the main highlights of the event, with both expected to captivate the audience through traditional music that celebrates and elevates Borneo's rich cultural heritage. 'We are excited to carry forward the legacy of TCRF as a platform to celebrate our culture and foster community unity. Having incredible talents like Alena and Belle join us will add depth to the cultural experience,' Rafie said. He added that the festival also offers a meaningful opportunity for local entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products directly to the public, contributing to rural economic growth. TCRF 2025, he said, is more than a cultural celebration – it is aligned with the State Government's vision of strengthening tourism as a key driver of economic development under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Development Plan. 'This is a holistic effort to enhance tourism, preserve cultural identity and boost the local economy,' he said. The public is encouraged to attend and experience the vibrant cultural diversity of Sabah during the event.
