Kiernan Shipka, Mckenna Grace Team Up for Thriller "The Nowhere Game"
Yara Sameh
Kiernan Shipka and Mckenna Grace have signed on to star in Picturestart's survival thriller "The Nowhere Game".
David Charbonier and Justin Douglas Powell (The Djinn) will direct off a script by Alex Pototsky, which made the 2023 Black List.
WME Independent and UTA Independent Film Group will co-rep domestic rights, with WME Independent handling international.
"The Nowhere Game" follows Carin (Grace) and Allie (Shipka), whose road trip takes a harrowing turn when the two young women are kidnapped by a cold-blooded sadist and thrust into a brutal game of survival.
The movie's official synopsis reads: "With a short head start, Carin and Allie will be set loose in the forest with limited supplies while being hunted in front of an online audience watching in grim fascination. With no sign of civilization and no way to call for help, the women rely on their wits and each other to evade capture. Navigating the hostile wilderness, they discover eerie clues left behind by previous 'contestants,' painting a grim picture of the stakes they face. As the hunter closes in, realization dawns on them: surviving isn't just improbable — it's nearly impossible. Carin and Allie must shed their fear and transform from prey to predator to bring this twisted game to its final, bloody conclusion."
Recently working with Picturestart on the rom-com "Sweethearts", which wound up at Max, Shipka is also coming off of performances in "Twisters", "Longlegs", and the acclaimed indie drama "The Last Showgirl" opposite Pamela Anderson.
Soon to be seen in "Scream 7", Grace was last seen starring in "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire".

Chris Hemsworth to Star in Action Movie "Subversion"
Yara Sameh Chris Hemsworth is set to star in the submarine action flick "Subversion" at Amazon MGM Studios. Patrick Vollrath (7500) is directing the movie from a script by Andrew Ferguson, and Di Bonaventura Pictures producing. "Subversion" follows a once-promising Naval commander (Chris Hemsworth) who is blackmailed by a cartel-like operation into piloting a dangerous submarine carrying illegal cargo across international waters, thrusting him into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, outmaneuvering blockades, and navigating perilous threats both in and outside of the submarine. The movie reunites Hemsworth with Amazon MGM Studios as he's also starring in Crime 101 for writer-director Bart Layton alongside Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Halle Berry, and Monica Barbaro, which is set to be released theatrically next year. The project reunites four-time Black List honoree Ferguson with the studio, where his script Blood Rush is in development. Coming off of projects like "Extraction II" and "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" — where he gave a career-best performance as Dementus — and "Transformers One", Hemsworth is confirmed to reprise his role as Thor in "Avengers: Doomsday", which also hits theaters in 2026. Other projects to which he's recently been linked include an Untitled Transformers/G.I. Joe Crossover at Paramount and a Prince Charming movie that Paul King is expected to direct for Disney, if the studio doesn't completely back off from live-action films, in the wake of "Snow White". read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Lifestyle Pistachio and Raspberry Cheesecake Domes Recipe News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Videos & Features Bouchra Dahlab Crowned Miss Arab World 2025 .. Owen Wilson, Alan Ritchson Team Up for Movie "Runner"
Yara Sameh Owen Wilson is set to star opposite Alan Ritchson (Reacher) in "Runner", an action drama getting underway in Australia. The movie is helmed by Scott Waugh (Need for Speed, Expendables 4). The Black List script is written by Tommy White and Miles Hubley. "Runner" follows Hank Malone (Ritchson), a high-end courier who has three hours to transport an organ to save a seven-year-old girl in need of an immediate transplant. The seemingly simple mission turns deadly when the leader of a notorious crime syndicate becomes hell-bent on claiming the organ. Wilson will play Ben, the medical courier that Ritchson is begrudgingly forced to transport and protect. The movie will begin shooting in the Australian state of Queensland this March. WME Independent is co-repping domestic with A Higher Standard, who is exclusively handling foreign. 'This pairing is something I believe audiences have been hungry for, and we strive to achieve the unexpected from the page-turner script that Miles and Tommy delivered,' Waugh said. "Runner" is produced by Todd Garner (Broken Road Productions), Alan Ritchson (AllyCat Entertainment), Dan Spilo (Industry Entertainment), Mark Fasano (Nickel City Pictures), Jeffrey Greenstein (A Higher Standard) and Deborah Glover (G2 Dispatch). Lauren Gennawey of Broken Road Productions to act as Executive Producer. The movie marks the fourth collaboration between Nickel City Pictures and A Higher Standard, after wrapping "Playdate" and "Solo Mio" in 2024 and the Russell Crowe crime-thriller, "Bear Country", which is currently shooting. 'The story's grounded nature and emotional through-line is one-of-a-kind,' said A Higher Standard's Greenstein. Ritchson just wrapped "War Machine" for Netflix, and is currently in production on his leading role opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Adam Shankman-directed holiday comedy "The Man with the Bag", where he also serves as a producer. Wilson has an Untitled Apple TV series coming soon in 2025 and is currently shooting Live Nation's "Rolling Loud", directed by Jeremy Garelick.
