Driver killed as car hits road sign near Kota Warisan

SEPANG: A 25-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving skidded and crashed into a road signpost near Kota Warisan early this morning.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said they received a distress call regarding the incident in Bandar Serenia, heading towards KLIA.
"A team from the KLIA Fire and Rescue Station comprising a fire rescue vehicle with seven firemen was deployed to the location.
"The operations commander reported that the incident involved a Perodua Myvi which had skidded and hit a road signpost," he said in a statement.
Mukhlis said that the driver was subsequently confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel.

KLUANG: A 52-year-old trader was killed after his car collided head-on with a fuel tanker along Km39 of Jalan Batu Pahat–Mersing last night. The 9.50pm crash occurred when the victim, identified as Cheng Tow Kheong, is believed to have lost control of his Perodua Myvi, veered into the opposite lane, and crashed into the fuel-laden tanker, which was travelling from Ayer Hitam towards Kluang. District police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh confirmed that Cheng sustained severe head and body injuries and died at the scene. The 39-year-old tanker driver was unhurt. Bahrin said that although the tanker was carrying diesel and petrol, the impact did not cause a fire. He urged witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage to come forward to assist in the investigation. The victim's body was taken to Kluang Hospital for a post-mortem.

The accident happened at around 4.50pm at the Pahang section of Jalan Genting Permai towards the middle of the highlands, reported Malaysian daily China Press. The Singaporeans were being driven in a private-hire Perodua Myvi when they were involved in a collision with a pickup truck driven by a man described as a non-Malaysian. The Toyota pickup was ferrying three passengers. In photos from China Press, the right side of the grey Myvi's front bumper and headlamp are seen to be badly damaged. The car is parked on a patch of grass next to the road. The photos show that at least two of the tourists required assistance and were wearing neck or leg braces. The Myvi driver was unharmed, China Press reported. The driver of the pickup truck had driven away from the location of the accident in an apparent attempt to escape, according to the report.
