Tehran - Saba:
The Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran (parliament) approved the "General Principles of the Draft Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Iran and the Russian Federation" on Wednesday.
Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported that "this ratification was approved with 191 votes in favor, 8 against, and 2 abstentions, out of a total of 201 votes."
Last April, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law ratifying the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement with Iran, according to a statement published on the official website of the Russian government's laws and decrees.
According to the statement, "The agreement was signed on January 17, 2025, during Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's visit to Moscow."
According to the document, the two sides seek to deepen and expand relations in all areas of mutual interest, enhance cooperation in the field of security and defense, and closely coordinate activities at the regional and global levels, consistent with a long-term, comprehensive, and strategic partnership.
According to the statement, "The two sides agreed that if one of the parties is subjected to aggression, the other party will not provide any assistance to the aggressor."
The statement stated that "Russia and Iran will jointly contribute to promoting peace in the Caspian Sea region, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and the Middle East."
According to the agreement, "Russia and Iran may carry out joint investments in the economies of third countries, and they also support international Internet governance with equal rights for all states."
It is worth noting that the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between Russia and Iran was concluded for a period of 20 years, with automatic extension for subsequent five-year periods.

Russian Foreign Ministry: Israeli attacks are collective punishment of civilians in Gaza

Moscow - Saba: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his country's "deep" concern on Thursday over the military escalation and the ongoing airstrikes by the Israeli occupation army on the Gaza Strip. During a press conference, Lavrov stated that "the continuous Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip amount to collective punishment of civilians." He added, "What is happening in Gaza is causing extreme concern in Moscow and is difficult to justify from a humanitarian perspective. There is an urgent need for a ceasefire, immediate protection for civilians, and intensified international efforts to restore calm and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid," according to the Quds Press Agency. The Israeli enemy army continues to violate the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which came into effect on January 19 of last year and lasted nearly two months after 471 days of genocide. Iranian Foreign Ministry: Path to agreement goes through negotiations, not media

Tehran - Saba: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian responded to media speculation about an imminent agreement between Tehran and Washington, stating: "The media continues to predict an impending deal between Iran and the U.S. I am not confident that we are truly at such a point." According to Iran's official news agency IRNA, Amir-Abdollahian added in a post on X (formerly Twitter): "The Islamic Republic of Iran is sincerely seeking a diplomatic solution that secures the interests of all parties. However, this requires an agreement that lifts all sanctions and guarantees Iran's nuclear rights, including enrichment." The Iranian foreign minister also referenced a report by an American news channel citing Austrian intelligence sources regarding Iran's nuclear program, saying: "As for the latest fabricated news against Iranian and American diplomacy, using Iran's name as a tool to attack domestic critics in the U.S. is a worthless move, even for 'Israel'." Fox News had claimed that a new intelligence report prepared by Austrian authorities alleged that Iran is still continuing its active nuclear weapons program, which the report suggested could be used to launch long-range missiles. It added that this intelligence data collected by Austrian authorities contradicts the assessment of the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). Earlier, in March, U.S. Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines informed the Senate Intelligence Committee that Iran is not manufacturing nuclear weapons and that the Supreme Leader of Iran has not authorized the militarization of the country's nuclear program. Zakharova: No changes to Russian delegation for June 2 negotiations with Ukraine

Moscow - Saba: Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that the composition of the Russian delegation for the upcoming negotiations with Ukraine on June 2 will remain unchanged. In response to a question about the delegation's makeup during an interview with Russia 1 on Thursday, Zakharova said, "The Russian delegation's composition remains the same, without changes." The first round of talks between Russia and Ukraine was held in Istanbul on May 16, following an invitation by Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 11 to resume negotiations. Kyiv agreed to participate in the meeting after U.S. President Donald Trump urged immediate acceptance of Putin's proposal. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously conditioned negotiations with Moscow on a 30-day ceasefire. As a result of the meeting, the two sides agreed to a prisoner exchange under a "1,000 for 1,000" formula, detailed discussions on a potential ceasefire, and the continuation of negotiations. The head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, expressed satisfaction with the meeting's outcomes. Representing Russia in the May 16 talks were: - Vladimir Medinsky, aide to the head of state; - Mikhail Galuzin, deputy foreign minister; - Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU); and - Alexander Fomin, deputy defense minister.
